COOOL. Would be a great beer tap too!! :)

What's with you pepper guys down in Florida? Another nice
one.

Birds of a feather.

WC

Stuck a fork in em,
He's done.

Awesome work Will!

That is a very nice pepper mill sir! Well done Will!

Yeah nice. Really nice. Beautiful grain on that piece.

WC

Thanks for the comps guys.
Hard to get too much of that.

MDM, This guy is 30 in tall, Mango wood.
Nice, soft EZ to carve.
Finishes soft with wipe on poly.
Has black lines & specks. Looks like a cross
between palm & maple sugar candy.

Robert, You like this guy ?
Trade ya one of your strumming or drinking Chimps.

I bought 3 more of the dowel kits for 3 more grinders. One dowel is 24 in long. I suspect that one could end up 4 ft tall.

So I was thinking, I bet I could carve a pipe.
Ya, a tiki pipe.Ya, with a Ku head.
A big ol honkin thing.
Something you'd hold out at arms lenth.
A flaming pit at the end of a stick.
I don't know, Is this something we need ?
Are a billion guys doing it already ?

It doesn't matter if anyone else is doing it - what you carve will surely be original. I'm sure we can find a good use for it!

Will I thought about tiki pipes a while back, there are a few vintage ones out there but I didn't really find anyone doing new ones. I know they can make pipes out of clay but I don't know squat about pipes - so I decided that was a bad idea for me. Check out Falcoln Pipes, they sell blank bowls in different woods, shapes, sizes, meerschaum lined, etc. You can carve the bowl and it attaches to the pre-made stem - you don't have to worry about getting all of that right. Plus the bowls are interchangable. On the downside, the parts all seem expensive to me.

Disclaimer - As a respiratory therapist, I cannot recommend the burning of any plant material and sucking it into your lungs

Told you I made one - 2007. The bowl was too wide so only half would burn. I'm sure you could experiment to find the right dimensions.

Tom, just exactly what were you burning in that pipe!?

That was a commissioned piece. It wasn't sawdust!

L

Very very nice! You and Tom compete inventive ... The tiki as kitchen utensil .... Great!

I'm curious to see it... I'll try to stay tuned.

Love this one Will, Glad to see you still getting Better.

I'm working on Gator Robs "the three cannibals" muddler.
This is just another example of the level
of detail that makes the Cannibal lounge
a must see, when visiting the Orlando area.

Now back to the carve.

P

wow man...I was just checking out that link you posted of that dude's tiki bar in Orlando.

Those rootballs you did were brilliant. Very impressive stuff man.

Thanks Jeff.
Hair balls are a lot of fun. They are rare
& you can ask a lil more for them.

So the 3 cannibals are done.
You know the story ?
He holds the captive
He eats the captive
He has the captive in his belly & he's happy

However,
There is another story
Kern told me
She's pregnant
She gives birth
She eats the kid

I don't know
I didn't see it
I can't call it

But yet there's more
I still have the business end to do
[the part that muddles]
And you can't just throw it in the sink
when your done.
It needs a place to live, a base.
I'm thinkin a cone shaped chatahoochie
kinda thing.
We'll see.

Very cool Will, it will look even better when the finish brings out the color and grain. Interesting theory about the pregnant cannibal - I hadn't heard that one :o

How did your experiment turn out?

Nice job. A+

This is what I think the business end of a muddler
should look like, but, perhaps we should
ask Gator Rob since he will be muddling.

Wait, when did I become a tourist destination?!? That reads like a Groupon ad!

Looking great there Mr. Anders! I'm torn on the cannibal story. Never been sure which was right.

The business end of the muddler can have teeth like you showed or be smooth. Personal preference? Smooth so it's easier to clean. But both work well.

Here's a good Muddling 101.

You are the master Will! We are not worthy...

N

Too Cool! Very nice work

And the different interpretations are also very funny :)

I'm gonna make it smooth for ya Rob.
It's just that EZ

A

Are you sure that last photo is of a muddler? :)

L

It's a mushroom....

T

Great job on the cannibals. I think you could make a female set to convincingly portray your second story.

WC

We're back from paint & poly.
The base is done.

THINK GROG
Wangaroa Muddler
Could be BIG

Nice! Exposed aggregate concrete base? Did you put a piece of ABS pipe in the center to keep the muddler from getting scratched up?

Whatcha workin on?

Ya know my buddy Rob's a good guy.
A family man.
Runs a clean joint on the upper east side.
We had to massage the end of his muddler.
Now we send it home to him.

Mike, I mixed the Chattahoochee rock with Portland cement.
Poured it around a clean white PVC pipe
inside of a cardboard cone.
3 hours later I pulled off the cardboard
and with a toothbrush I cleaned off and exposed
as many rocks as I could.

Next up is my Nu Ku

Looks small in the picture - its not. That's a fat piece of Mango. Its a nice start.

Thanks Will, it looks great. You must have sealed the concrete with something too.

It would have to be big. And long, too.

Don't let GROG stop you if feel the need to do it. The cnnibals and the new carve are looking awesome.

N

looking really great. I really enjoy your work. Keep it up!

Really nice thread Will carve. I am liking the variety in the things you do. Especially like the in progress pictures, as you taught me a great lesson. I have always had trouble with feet and I usually start my pieces there but seeing how you first buried the ankles on your latest Ku and then lay the feet out was a "Now I get it!' moment. Thanks and keep up the great work.

M

Awesomeness Will!

I Love your canibals!

McTiki

Thank you CY,
What a nice comp to come from Frog Island.
This one's for you

WC

This could take some time.
