I think I made it over this bump in the road.
Here's a link to my past posts
http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=29383&forum=7&start=0&182
There hasn't been much talk of Tiki Renees
Florida carve jam.
There are a bunch of nubes here in Florida,
you guys should try & make it.
Renee has stuff planed & food made.
I'll be there, Benzart coming.
More on this in events.

Here's something to look at.

Wow - you are one handsome guy!

WC

Tom,
Handsome, yes & out done only by your modesty.

New name, same amazing talent! Welcome "back" Will

W

Went to the dentist this week end

In the Monday morning light
I thought there were too many teeth.
Back to the dentist.
Rubbed them out.Did them over
with 2 less teeth.

P

Wow...

M

I like the crowded look myself. Very Nice chops Will!

B

Yes, Excellent ;looking piece so far.....

Well this is different.
Hard to photo. Stuck on what faces to give
the 3 skinny guys. Mean/nasty, gotta pee?
Any suggestions?

H

Oops, never mind. GROG just notice this picture, and looks like you've got most of the weight on the bottom and that part has plenty of support. Good job dude. GROG think it's the tallest tiki Grog has seen carved here.

Sweeeeet!

I'm throwing every trick in the book at
this guy.
Sunday he got a new Easter jacket.

The faces on the little guys had you stumped??

This guy told me he wanted a big gnarly nose.
I heard toes.
By the time we got this mess straightened out.
Well, he's going to have to live with them.

M

I can totally relate to them toes!

Nice!

McTiki

Going more than 1 tiki deep is NOT advised, nobody has done it before, it could break the space tiki continuim, proceed with caution!

Awesome debut thread Will! Even the frenchie appreciate the joke word "Will carve".

Very good idea three lono on the Lono hairdress, I would say a bad guy, a nice and the third by the both!

I stay stuned for the progress in this great great piece.

J.

I have to give props to Aloha Station.
He kicked the door open on the pepper grinders.
He bit the bullet, bought the bits &
fingered out the holes.
I picked out the wood. He drilled holes.
I made my first pepper grinder.

Cool Hu?
But then I got a really good idea.
With Hukilau coming up,
I'm thinkin I could make thousands off this.
I think I'll call it, UMMM ??
I know
the Wangaroa Pepper Grinder

Does this mean I need to post mine??

Great pepper mills Will and that dramatic lighting photo of the Moai grinder is the bomb!

Tom - YES!!!

P

very cool stuff!

B

Excellent stuff Will, You continue to Amaze me, keep'em coming!

Hey!! What the hell!!!! Wangaroa Pepper Grinder!!!! Didn't you see GROG copyright at the bottom of this post where it say not to steal GROG' ideas?!!!!
GROG have team of lawyers ready to sue your ass if you go into production on these you bastard!!!

But, it is a nice carve. And, it IS a pepper grinder and not a mug, and that's pretty clever.

But still, don't go crying to GROG when somebody show up at your door with a baseball bat to bust your kneecaps! You brought this on yourself you bastard!!

So, anyway, back to GROG bringing on the devolution of Tiki.

For instance, GROG has the "WANGAROAN" mug series planned.

Thanks to Squid for suggesting making the head a lid with a straw hole.

All of these drawings were drawn on the computer with a mouse which is why they are so rough, but GROG was just getting the idea down, not the final design.
Most of these were drawn several years ago.

P.S. Copyright Ernie Keen you bastards, so don't steal GROG' ideas.

I told you...

Can I say I like your GROG inspired salt & pepper shakers? I don't want to offend him. I like my kneecaps. Anyway Reading PA is far enough from the rest of you to get too worried.

NO WAY GROG
No body saw me
I didn't do it

Well may be,
OK I stole your Wangaroa.
How bout I put in box & send to GROG for disposal.
And promise to try & not steal GROG ideas.
And may be tell your staff
we're all good.

Too late. Someone has already been dispatched to come bust your kneecaps. They do take bribes, though.

M

Classic!

First off I have to say this is Jeromes fault.
He made me do it.
I have no other excuse.
We have a PNG, Tongue & a Tang.
And remember,
these bros are lono, ya know.
Body work is done.
Now off to paint.

If I take your meaning right, I would say that Jerome has that effect on many of us. Very cool the way you incorporated them into the larger piece.

Will, this one is taking a while but I think it will be well worth the wait! The headdress is awesome and I like the way you placed the mirror so we could get a sneak peek at the feet again :D

P

that headdress with the faces is amazing!

very cool.

Well, this didn't take long.
Now all that's left is to stand him up.

This could be my next project.
A 30 tall Lono pepper grinder.
There is nothing better than a useful Tiki.
Everyone can use a 30 in Lono pepper grinder.
Right ?

That big piece is spectacular!! What Will did not mention is that he painted the tiki to protect it from the harsh South Florida weather. The paint sealed it and he then he gave it a really cool petina. Waiting to see this guy standing up!

That lono is on its way. We used the same principles as creating a grinder on the lathe, but Will wanted to use the free form of the log. It gives the Lono a much looser feel than the stiff, regulated form of my grinders. More work involved getting the 2 pieces to fit and slide together. He made it work on the Tang and he has a great start to the Lono. Each one is a learning experience!

P

Wow.

Those are awesome Will.

Very inspiring.

BITCHIN' Will! Gnarly toes

Is there a significance to the squares on the knees or purely decorative?

WC

Ya Mike,
The knee squares are suede patches that match
the leisure jacket I gave him for Easter.
I also saw them show up on some of the Mai-Kai
castings I did.

Looking Good Wee Willie, When you coming up to finish learning how to do those?

Here we are on this.
Now I'll start on the top.

G

Hiya Will. I heard rumors (that YOU started) of cannibals at your place. True? I won't believe it til I see it.

Rob,
Man, and you should know.
Rumors fly around here at TC.
However this one is true.
Your 3 cannibals muddler is next up
after my Lono pepper grinder.
As pictured in the back ground here.
