He's going to live out side so it needs to be protected. I'm using Behr stain. Also I need to seal the top. I'm coating it with a rubber roof coating. Then paint it to match. We'll see.

Looking back, I love the idea for your coconut uke. A curved fretboard should be feasible, in theory, but it looks like the action is pretty darn high on your prototype. A lowered nut might be all it needs.

There are 3 things wrong with it. Biggest problem I can't change is the curve of the frond. So I'll try to fix them all next time around. Hilda, I'm so pleased when you're pleased. Last years Hukilau carve class was a blast. 50 people in my class & I believe every one who stayed till the end finished their pendent. Looks like we're doin it again. Here's a peek at this years pendant. EZ enough for all. Kinda like last year but different.

First one in a while. Have I mentioned how much I like carving fronds? Yes I have. And I've started on pendants. These snails are all around my house. I've been collecting them & been wanting to use them in a carve. The carving is the one for the Hukilau Carve Class this year. The snail shell eyes? Well not every thing goes on the first shot. So I tried putting them in from the back. Bingo? & a few more.
