And yet another.
This is the 3rd of the fan palm.
The first 2 were the pits but I slugged thru them.
This one is not great but better.
I'm not so sure Over Drive will work out
for my shift knob.
He's kinda ostentatious,
& the tail wags the dog.
We'll have to try another one.

Will, I want to know who told you ostentatious was a bad thing in Tikis?
ROCK ON!

P

yeah, I have to admit, I've been kinda avoiding the fan palms and just lookin' for sable & coconut...

but that one's lookin' good Will...

Interesting work bench. Does it hop around during your mallet work? Maybe I should spend more time sharpening chisels. I tend to rely too much on brute force.

Ostentatious, ya
it shows up the car.

Amate that log is 100 lbs.
It doesn't go any place.
I can roll it back & forth &
you know I like to keep 2 hands on my tool.

M
MadDogMike posted on 11/17/2012

Amate, with a bench like that you sharpen your chisels right there on the leg on the bench.

Those shells for eyes look cool. They look like octopus eyes. If you're a Rat Fink kinda guy & are into Ed "NEWT" Newton & Thom Taylor hot rod cartoons, then it fits the car perfectly. Osten-what? Bodaciously Badass, that's what!

Time for a Tang with a wang.
This is an old weathered, worm eaten oak log.
Hoping it will ad to the charm.
This wood is very hard.

I guess I've got this thing
just about ruffed out.
Most every thing is going as it should.
But, does the color of the wood
make his wang look big??

This log has trashed 3 of my chisels.
It's a tuff ol dude.
Just look at the cracks running thru it.

very cool...and yeah, I bet it was a tough one to cut. I cut some oak branches for a neighbor recently and wow....afterward the chain on my saw looked like I had taken a hammer to it...I mean just beyond re-sharpening...

glad you posted this...I've got the holiday "I can't get motivated to work on anything" syndrome & need some inspiration.

hope you're having a nice holiday Will...

I've had a chance to spend some time with this one and can tell you it has a dirty little secret that kinda adds to the over all petina of the wood. The oak has beautiful coloring in the spalting. Can't wait to see how you finish it - or if it is finished?

Thanks for the comments gang.
I can't think of any thing I want to carve &
I don't have any logs I want to get started.
So, guess I'll bang on my Tang some more.

I started chopping the body thinner.
Then I wasn't happy with the mouth so
I wiped it clean & I'll try again.

Also,
The secret hiding under his oaken skin,
that Aloha alluded to?
There is an army of worms marching thru this log.
These holes are so big I can fit my finger down them.
