That reminds me of the induction on Iggy and the Stooges to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are still as gnarly as they have been and they're playing at this very formal event. Both band and audience not sure how to handle the other when the Stooges do "I wanna be your dog"

many old friends are doing reunion gigs with the old punk bands
yet they have grown up kids, Have become Lawyers, Contractors Business people etc.
We don't Slamdance so much these days, though.

I still keep on laughing when I see it....!! Like many here, I grew up during the OC Punk era....and it was typical to see hardcore bands booked to play the weirdest places....gigs that made no sense whatsoever...the only thing that was different was that most of the punk bands were right wing...so there was not a lot of reagan bashing....that reference to Ed meese and Alexander haig....well, you had to be from the 80's to get that...but that was more of a bay area punk thing....dead kennedys, etc...

Got this at the antique show last weekend for one dollar.
When I was a kid my parents did not want the mess that these would make
so we never used these.
I have been tagging the whole house since, hope mom and dad were wrong about the mess.
They made sooo many styles, Going to sell all my tiki and collect these from now on.

If I had kids I would make them do every window on our house, they are old school fun.

Hope you are doing them on the outside of the windows
because you need a hose & a sponge to clean em up afterwards Skip :)

Am using shoe polish.
Did a test, looks like it will come off with ease.
If not I will post in what made me angry today.:)
You can still buy the glass wax though.

That's so funny ... we have these stencils but never used them as we haven't been able to find glass wax! Was going to post asking how you're doing them but read your response about shoe polish. Good luck getting that off the glass lol ... no, just kidding, we don't know how permament it is but we're sure it looks wonderful!

We hear there's a new product that works like the old Glass Wax and you can buy on Amazon.

Yes! Here it is, and it's cheap!

Thanks mike and marie for the tip.
at the time of your post I had glass wax on order.

AND... now I can say that the shoe polish and the glass wax came off with ease
and left no marks or residue what so ever.(No hose was needed as well)
Came off with Windex and a paper towel.

This made me both happy and sad, Happy that it came off, and sad that it came off
leaving me with no happy greeting as we walked in our door.

But fear not as I was able to get other holiday stencils that will come into play soon.

I grew up watching this show. Interesting side note, the little girl that played "dee" is my age now, and is a Doctor of veterinary science!

An episode of What's Happening called Doobie or Not Doobie?
-The writers of the show must have assumed the young viewer did not know what the term doobie originally meant.

-The Doobie Brothers were the inspiration for guitarist Billy Zoom's style of playing live...
"I remember watching the Doobie Brothers on this Christmas rock concert. ..., the guitar player took this solo-wheedly-wheedly-wheedly-playing lots of notes and making all these faces and shaking his hair. And he wasn't even doing anything. There were a lot of notes, but it was a real easy riff, you know? .... So as a joke, I would play something difficult and just smile and not look at the guitar and act like it was nothing. ... In the beginning, most of the audience got it, but after a while, people looked at it and thought, 'Well, he isn't doing anything hard, or he wouldn't look like he was.'"

Dose this mean that nothing made you happy today?
Or you don't want us to know what made you happy?

No, it means what I posted would probably come off as too harsh, so I deleted it. See ATPs latest post about thin skin.

Just got two free 4 day + preview night tickets to the San Diego Comic-Con!

That's pretty good, cause this year they are apparently only selling 1 day tickets; if you want more, you have to buy extra days.

This all makes me slightly more than happy.

YAAAAAAAAY!

C

Oh yeah, and I watched Carry On Up The Jungle (1970) last night.

It was hysterically funny. Even the credits were funny.

C

Went here today and had probably the best Chicken Mole of all time:

Everyone there was happy.

The weather. Cool, misty and clean smelling. Like England in the spring.

A slightly inebriated (?) phone call from Vegas asking me what mug I wanted from Frankie's Tiki Room.

Got a (discontinued in 2012) bottle of Caswell Massy Lime Cologne for $19.95 today.
Last one on the shelf.
I think the nice new lady behind the cash register made a mistake.

Wore the Lime Cologne today. Smells great. It's hard to feel anything but happy when you smell lime all day.

T

Does that make you a Limey?

I am happy today because my roof is leaking, which reminds me that if that's my biggest problem I'm much better off than so many people on this planet.

I am happy because my roof isn't leaking.

I am also happy because I planted 3 succulent gardens in the backyard today, and found this:

Actually, yesterday. Saw Lady and the Tramp at the El Capitan and had a slice of Canter's Creamy Cheesecake afterwards.

Today - listened to the Lost Treasures of Peggy Lee that I bought just before the show.

WOW!

I am jazzed, because I just scored "The Peggy Lee Capital Box Set"
which has been out of print for some time.

C

The box set I got, this other one is "The Lost '40s and '50s Capitol Masters" by Collector's Choice Music, 2008. It's great because it's much less pop and more blues/jazzy/improvised. The best cuts never get the airplay, back in the 1940s same as today.

It also has a nice selection of Lee/Dave Barbour compositions, and they SMOKE.

Got a super clean vinyl copy (is there any other?!?!) of Vaughn Meador's The First Family at a local record shop. It's incredibly funny.

The race track, a cigar and Americana's fountains - yesterday anyway.

Today is fraught with peril.

I see this album everywhere. I have never listened to it until I clicked on the link you had there. I didn't think it was incredibly funny though. I always assumed that this was some kind of promotion /giveaway because it is so plentiful around here.

C
Cammo posted on Wed, Feb 26, 2014 3:57 PM

Maybe you see it everywhere because it sold 7.5 million copies.
Oh yeah, and a Grammy for Album of the Year.
