Gosh, I came home from work so tired and all of your notes just perked me up. I'm still recovering from pneumonia so its slow going on casting until I'm more peppy. Thanks Grog and one more question. Does a cold mold even when dry act slower to remove the water? Colors, now that's something I've been thinking about all the time. The match book is black with white lettering and highlights. But then there is the other side. Well the mask could then be light brown and the words Coral Reef could be in coral pink red. All of that would look good if it works and doesn't run. I think I will make some proto types in different glazes and then post them for a vote. If it works out we could have a paint your own mug party as long as there is time for that and fireing before the crawl. Tiki Mookie I haven't forgotten you want to come for a clay day. Eric you are welcome. The day of vamps party Dan and I are taking a mold making class from Mike (he made this mold). I'll take photos of the process for this thread. I've caved in and plan to learn how to make molds. Tiki G always good to hear from you. I just love it that we will have tikiphiles clear from reading on South Ca coming. Wow. Cheers everyone, Wendy |

Thrillsville...just booked a flight for the Mother Unit to come up for the Crawl. You know she can handle a couple of drinks and kill snakes if necessary...and that ain't too bad for 91 years old. She had fun year-before-last on the crawl...she is still talking about Alia's Pulled Pork!!! We need to get her over to Dan & Wendy's so she can see that Jungle Room :) |

Hi Vamp, we would love to have your mother in the jungle. We should put her in animal skins and take photos. She's a wild one for sure! Grog's good advice is being followed. I put the mold in the sun when I'm home so it can dry extra well. Even still tiny pieces come off each time I use it. I'm numbering them as I go. The two that Mike poured I'll use for glaze tests. I'm trying to paint my original sculpt tonight as an example of how they could look (maybe, I'm learning as I go). Here's a photo of the mold baking and the mugs drying. Cheers, Wendy ps see everyone at Vamp's party Saturday |

Great job on organizing the crawl Duane and great job on that mug Wendy! I can't wait to see everybody at Vamp's tomorrow evening! My stuff finally showed up this week so now I am unpacking and working to "tikify" this new house. If anyone is in East Sac drop on by for a cocktail, I am at 1461 52nd St. (5 doors down from The Shack on Folsom). [ Edited by: rugbymatt 2010-07-23 18:08 ] |

I'm going to post a new thread on Making Molds under Crafts soon. Mike is even going to teach us how to make master molds. I'll share what I learn, no secrets. Hugs, Wendy PS I missed photos of Christine, Casey, Eva, Brenda so many people so little time. If you have some please post them. PSS I've posted the best photos of the mug on my Gallery page. Hi Wendy, I feel so bad we missed your "pre" unvailing at Vamps house yesterday. We had a prior engagement and got there around 9:30, and heard all the raves about what we had missed. I'm looking forward to the crawl, it's going to be epic! And I'd love to take you up on your offer to have me help you with painting. I miss art, and used to paint watercolors, and use my creativity. Matt & I are working on our house and we have a spare room that will be our art room. I'm so excited for you and your excitement is so infectious. I've always wanted to create with clay, and I think mug making is so exciting. Can't wait to see your informative posts and get together for some creative learning. Sounds like a really fun time. We'll see you soon! Please let me know when you want some help and I'll find the time! And thanks :) Mookie |

Congratulations on the new mug, Wendy. It looks great! You will find that the basics of mold making are pretty simple. The problem is that so many variables can come into play that at times it had me yelling with fists shaking at the sky(you probably heard me all the way in sacto). The most important thing that I have learned is to relax and never try to rush through the process. Have fun with it! |

I love to read posts from old and new friends. This is what keeps me excited about tiki art. Leleliz, now I know who you are, I didn't get you and your TC name connected. Hey TK from Oakland it's great to hear from another mug maker (one we collect). Our first mold with Mike turned out well and I'll be sharing the steps. What we molded has an incredible history so I'm holding back until I'm ready to tell the story. TM it will be September when I bisk the mugs and do the black glaze. Then we can assembly line the white. Thequin, go to the home page here on TC, select Gallery, scan down to The art of Wendy Cevola or the author danlovestikis, that's me too! I'd love to hear your comments on that thread when you have time. Hit me on the head at Oasis so I don't miss meeting you, hugs for everyone, Wendy |

Hi Ka'lenatiki, did you get the kiln out? It's looking like I'll have 40 mugs made in time for the crawl. That is unless I explode or melt some as I learn. It seems there is a list for those who want one forming on this thread. That's a good idea. I also owe some to those who helped me get started. Duane 1 artist proof free, one mug to buy Here is a list of people not attending the crawl but who would like to get a mug if there are some left over or made after the crawl is done. If any on the above list do not make it to the crawl they will go on this other list. Ka'lenatiki 8/8 Did I miss anyone? I'll keep editing this list. Right now it's one mug per family unless there are some left over at the end of the crawl through our home. One a day, that's all I can do with one mold. I'm enjoying this project so much, thank you all for your support. EVEN THOUGH THE MUGS ARE SOLD OUT NAMES ARE BEING ADDED IN CASE THERE ARE [ Edited by: danlovestikis 2010-10-08 16:26 ] |

Well this is fun, thank you, hugs, Wendy ps I once spent a month stringing a necklace of tiny green pepper seeds sideways, then I painted a tiny flower on each one. This was in the 60's when we all thought we were hippies. I loved my necklace but so did a tiny mouse that found it and ate it and was then executed. Best to not fool around with wiring. |
