Very interesting answer, Thank you! you got me thinking a lot.
And you are right, any kind of person and approach to art are equally valid really, is more a manner of personal taste, i guess...
What I really wanted to say was that, in my opinion ( taste and way of living), the connection that a person (artist or not) can have with life, is what makes me tick, what makes it interesting to me... Is that honest reflexion, what I look for in art, and is what makes it meaningful to me...
what ever style you have, that inner search is what ultimately shows on each artist results, even if they don't want to think about it (I think...)...
So to my point of view is important to work on the honesty, and on the connection you want to have too, not only the one you do have (and maybe don't like)....
For some reason you think sweetness and love are important, even if is not how you are all the time...
So by "having a life" I didn't mean hanging with people, I meant connecting with them, and with life ... I totally agree on the quality/quantity thing.
What I'm not sure is if I agree is on the lack of all that, and doing stuff over and over... That's what I've meant..
and don't worry, when i said I think your art is sweet as it can get, I've meant, is the sweetest limit I can relay too...
Is not that I only see sweet. I see sad or melancholic, a little to much brain activity, some search for innocence that seems a little distant..... the colors seem to me like a mostly calm centered even a little cold angle , with plashes of hope, or happiness or madness....
I think it's very interesting and that it shows a very interesting honest person too, that's why like it....
I'll go back to my cave now, I promise :)

B

The Little Lost Tiki...It all make since. This book needs to be done.

Sir Kinny, your so awesome!

An EPIC mural, nothing less.

Where ya been, Ken? We were talking about you last night, were your ears burnin? I hope you're just busy working and not holed up sick or something. Olly olly oxen freeeeeee!!!

Hey - Ken is working large! Great stuff Ken! It makes me want to go big now. That is a beautiful piece!

Aloha Children!
How are y'all doing today?
:)

well...as usual, a buncha stuff to share with y'alls...
but first...
raves-happy birthday!
I agree about the first "sad panda" LLT in the original...
I think back then, i was still a bit cautious of expanding
upon the tikis, trying to keep them authentic, and making for a
more awkward "look" that didn't quite capture his mood completely...
there are still some moody aspects from the original
that i may try to work into the new one...or not..
i'm almost afraid to add anything else to it...it's going so well....
ah well.. "fortune favors those who dare"
Naples yellow DOES ROCK! and don't you forget it!
Thanks for visitin!

TikiJoe's Pop-Andy! thanks man! See you in a few weeks,i guess!
if not....then Oasis! HiHo!

GROG-i have no Naples...
They are not yellow...
i'm built like a ken doll...
Damn that Gepetto!

Skinny Dawgs!
hi jen and scott!
I'll try to visit that happy place more!
Thank yews!

Kiki- I'm grumpy AND love Chagall...believe it!
I'm so glad you and so many others have such favorable things to say about my slow-motion book project....You kids are toot-sweet!Mahalo!
"grumpus"?
i kinda like the sound of that...

buzzard-Thanks pal! Imspiration is usually a bonghit and a book away!

Polynesiac!
jim! thanks for the visit and the swanky shirt, buddy! You know the deal with the madman frame of mind...i've seen your carvings...what gets me is How do you carvers channel all that energy into the chip-chip-chip? It would drive me mad! Like not being able to let a line flow across the paper-more like a dash-dash-dash..Now carving takes not only that mad genius, knowledge and discipline, but patience...You gotta wait a week to a few months to get one done...
Knowing you'll read the little lost tiki book makes me want to go on a hiatus and finish it this year!

Jason! Iokona Ki'i!
Thank ya for the company!
If i sold everything, what would decorate my studio walls? the preferable way is a slow release to the public...that way i can replenish the walls with no bare spots!
great batch of wahine pastels by the way! such glowing skin! :)

Clarita!
i agree with living equals experience equals inspiration..
i think the trick is just to become fully-saturated and lucid during the experience so you may recall and record it later....
just like you say withconnecting with people and moments
quality/quantity...
A Lesser number of these experiences, if recorded inside properly,
can be summoned up and used over and over...I think the fact that an artist usually feels things very intensely probably helps to recall those things....
As for doing things over and over...
there is always variation
there is always an evolution
I would never draw the same piece over and over again
without changing it,viewing it in a different light,or angle....
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on Art and the creative/inspirational side...
i guess we're all born with creativity
it's just a matter of making sure it tags along
when you walk up the path...
your observations about the piece
with sweet, sad, melancholic brain activity, with a search for innocence that seems a little distant nailed it the closest...
A situation in an artist's life does not have to mirror a situation in a painting...a sweet reminiscence from youth can,for instance be molded into a narrative that just carries a grain of that feeling BUT by surrounding it with a landscape and a story, that grain can be amplified and made to fit into the mood of a painting...does that make sense?
Please don't stay in your cave too long,Clarita..
you have too many good things to say as well as create! :)

Sai-Baba!-you are the Trophyhead Master!I'll put another vote down for gettin this thing written!

Robb-Hibiscus boy! mural? Been there-done them..over it...

Kiki-while you kids were slurping down cheap drinks, i was being the perfectly disciplined artist, creating in the studio and trying not to think of all the fun you kids were having at DTBC!

Sam-Thank you ,my friend!
You SHOULD go BIG!
Looking at your pieces always sends me "there"...I can only imagine a bigger area would be fantastical!
As for the LLT piece...
Not so big....
just 2x3-which is big enough!
still got that huge 8-foot "lost rowers" painting to finish....
I think i've been avoiding the big pieces because...
it takes a while to sell them
in the meantime, i gotta find wall space!
dilemas! dilemas!
What would David Berg say?
:)
Anyways, thank you all for the thoughts and props and food-for-thought!

First off..this is for Mad dog Mike...
he noticed a piece behind my easel and asked about it..
even daring to joke that it was a self-portrait...
hmmmmmmmmmmm....
anyways, here's a shot i finally took of it...
"Beggar reading a Blank Piece of paper"

I know it's not tiki, but scroll down and you can get your fill!
i think this piece is around 10-13 years old...
it's kinda about how crazy/homeless people often see deeper than most folks....kinda works the same way for artists, seeing things that aren't there-seeing how things can be "evolved" blahblahblah...

anyways....here's a piece i started yesterday, then had to stop when tikishark and Bigtoe popped by for a visit!:)
and then i finished it after they left... it's a skimboard i got from a dear friend...well, it finally got some LOVE!

decided to go all PNG on it!
"the Happy Thought"
acrylic and paint pen on wooden skimboard

here's a close-up...

Also finished this drawing..
"the jungle path"
tissue paper stain/ink/colored pencil on Aquarelle watercolor paper
here's a pretty scan of it

It deals with the dangers and pitfalls of wandering down a jungle path...

here's some deets...
Snakes and bones...not a good sign...

look! a BOID!

some Vegematation

Also..here's 2 more drawings i did a few days back
not wanting to work on any masterpieces
just in the mood for play..
"Appearance of the BirdFish"

and "Spirit Dream"

and here's the cleaned up scans
(pics for something you'll find out about later
when the time is right...)
just as i promised,dear ohana...

"the Friend Collector"

"the Gossips"

"the Nervous Guest"

and lastly, an untitled one of a
Kanaloa/Lono/Ku/and Kane..I'll think of some funny title soon...

those two on the right would make killer mugs...hmmmmm....
:)

and,for having to put up with those previous blurry shots
here is another Blast from the past i finally got a good photograph of...
it's loosely based on tales of the Sirens and Ship of Fools...
This one also has a Naples Yellow outline for the figures..
enjoy!
"the lost crew"

some details...

There you go... I'm tired of scanning and cleaning up!
Blew my whole evening..
No art til tomorrow...:(
that is all, dear friends!
Good Night!

Oh! I got's 2 pieces up on eBay this week
cheggem out!
Thanks!

Prime stuff, Kenny!!
the PNG piece is really cool-- and i Love the Friend Collector!!
it's the little green guys in there that i like :D

awsome stuff

C

Wow, Kinny!
That skimboard is AWESOME!!!! Beautiful!!

Hey Duddy! Gettin deeper and deeper with your subject matter i see! I remember, early in the 90's when i was a young buck ,realizing that the true purpose of art is not only to "get it out" and communicate a story to a viewer, but to dig deep inside and scoop some of that feeling and experience into the piece to give it that impact! Glad to see you're poking around that area! Green guys....those lil green fellars are Hei-Tikis! if you look real hard at all three, you can figure out that one is Rapa Nui...one is Maori...one is PNG...and the fourth...well, you'll just have to wait til i scan em after work at Toe's place!thanks for the visit! :)

now get back to painting!
less tattoos-more paintings!

R

:D THANK YEW FOR THE BEEDAI GREET! :D

I understand what you mean about not wanting to modify the new piece...and yet daring to do so... I say go with what yer gut feeling tells ya and go wild! :) I absolutely love the contrast though between the original and the new one, so whatever you do I'm sure it'll make for a very interesting piece.

I also love it when you post non-tiki art work because you get new and different insight on yer past stylized works.
 and I totally dig that beggar piece & the reasoning behind it.
And the Lost Crew piece rawks, I love the naples yellow outlines ya did, and the way you stylized the sirens :)

Anyhow, the skimboard looks really nice! I love the highlights and shading you did in the close-up shot, gives it this sort of nice wood texture.

The Jungle Path looks like it'll be awesome once scanned in. The photo of it makes the colors look WAAAAAAY unsaturated, but I love the lil snake feller slithering up!

And I love those 3 new ones (again, scanning I'm sure it'll be kick ass) but the "Gossips" cracks me up so much because all I can think of is Lisa from the HATE comics with Buddy. When she's done something REAL bad....and just goes "teehee!"

Keep on Rawkin! :D

Speaking of yellow naples...

"while you kids were slurping down cheap drinks, i was being the perfectly disciplined artist, creating in the studio and trying not to think of all the fun you kids were having at DTBC!"

Obviously, I need to take a cue from you and work a little harder! But I love to slurp those Zombies and hang out in basements with all the cool kids!
You astonish me regularly with how prolific you are. These pieces are amazing, once again. I have no words. . . . just "WOW!"

Ken, your posts always make me smile :)

Thanks for posting the "Beggar", so cool - I think I met him on the subway under NYC last Fall.

Is the skim board still waterproof? A little 2 part resin and we can take it to the beach as soon as the water warms up (which will be never! Although, I have a theory that when the big one comes and the rest of the US slides off into the Atlantic Ocean, the island of California will have warm Atlantic water on it's eastern coast... but that's a story for another time)

Love the "Gossips", so fun. And the "Lost Crew" - Holy Hooters!!!!!!

B

I hope that skim board never gets used!!!
The Friend Collector, The Gosssssips, and The Nervous Guest are so damn cool, man!
Seen Sister Wends around lately?

Bowie-Wowie-Fe-Fi- Fo-Fowie

Happy thoughts, indeed! Superb PNG skimboard! :o

"If i sold everything, what would decorate my studio walls? the preferable way is a slow release to the public...that way i can replenish the walls with no bare spots!"

As prolific as you are, I can't even imagine bare wall spots!

You're Vishnu with paint brushes!

Stellar work! Rich colors and playful compositions!

"Friend collector" being my fav of this batch.

I agree though, a slow release is good....for me wallet! :D

Dig that crazy color and detail!! Unbelievable! That skim board is beautiful.... Too nice to skim with! I love when you paint birds too - those big eyes and beak - It reminds me of that Spongebob when the pirate is teaching him to tie his shoes, and he says, "Stop lookin' at me with them great big ol' eyes...." Very fine stuff Ken! I'd go insane trying to keep up with all of those shapes if I was attempting to paint that style!

FFFRRRIIIGGGGGG!!!!

Helluva page, Ken. Maybe the best yet.

I'll be scanning

ravers!
Thanks for visitin and contributing so much! :)
still pondering that LLT listening to the Fish's Song...
i look at it every time i arrive at the studio
and the verdict is still up in the air....
Glad you like some of the non-Tiki stuff....
i'll post some every once in a while
not every week,like Clysdalle!
the skimboard wood grain was a cartoony stylized grain
OVER the original grain,so it peeps out a bit...
I can totally see the Peter Bagge in that Moai
now that you mention it....
teehee!

GROG-grow up...

Kiki!
Thanks girl!
looks like you ARE taking the cue!
So glad that you're sharing your gift for fashion with the rest of us!
now it's YOUR turn to AMAZE us!

MadDog!
We aim to please.my friend!
Most folks don't know i've 20 years invested into this art "hobby"
so it's fun to give the peeps a sneaky-peeky!
As of Now, the skimboard is not completely waterproof
and only a fool or crazyman would pay for an art piece and then
recklessly take it out into some salt water...
your posts make me smile too! :)
great April Fools joke a**hole!

Bowie!
Haven't seen Sister Wendy lately
my Netflix this week is both venture brothers seasons
and the Life of Leonardo DaVinci part DEUX!
you still got her number?
truthfully, i'd rather see you than her
you're funnier!

blacksandz
Thanks for the happy!
if i had a hundred old skimboards
i would make at least 50-75 of them PNG!

Iokona Ki'i
Vishnu?
his skin is too Smurfish
but thanks for the compliment!
Very pleased with your pastel progress
and that bettie page is gonna be BOMBS when you finish it!
I love how you just up and tackled it headfirst!
Say Hi to Claudette for me!
can she plan my birthday party? :)

Sam!
Mr. finger carver!
i love how your kids contributed the feathers and beads!
SAH-WEET!
"Stop lookin' at me with them great big ol' eyes...."
now i'm a gonna be thinkin about that whenever a piece needs a bird!
I think with your attention to detail and patience you could nail ANY style!
Thanks for the visit,buddy!

Robb-thank you...
but ,as you know...
one can never rest on their laurels
keep moving or die!
How's that bird beak coming along?

Babs-here comes your fix,Clay Shaman!
I can only hope to amaze you as much as your recent work has amazed me...
Three Brothers is a masterwork,Sir!

Markusk-my fingers, hand and upper neck get a little sore
but having a massage therapist for a wife
helps keep me healthy,wealthy,and wise!
well, healthy at least!

Alrightio!
here's this week's output!
Oh! also gessoed up 18 monkeypod/koa wood bowls and objects for
Booben's parking lot Sale, but didn't get a pic of them
maybe next time....

First off
i went for a Fabric print feel on a few of these...
just fun little exercises, playing with shapes and colors and mood
and just letting it floooooooooow,man!

first one don't have no title
(take THAT grammar,GROG!)

"Kane"

"Ku and Volcano"

"Mask Race"
that's the title that just popped into me head
and i'm a stickin widdit!

"Tiki Tribal"

and here's an abstract
"Newly formed Boy"
not quite tiki
but tiki-ish
mysterious little piece,it is...

and here's the last two..
my favorite two of the batch...
"the Staring Contest"
done in the style of the friend Collector..
(it still smells like sharpie!)
added bonus,i guess!
til the migraine starts!

and this one was inspired by my dear friend Squiddles!
we were discussing the cannibal theme and how i could expand it
examine more cannibals, dig deeper into the psyche and the symbolism of it
but also throw a curveball in there...
it is with this introduction
that i present....
"the Vegetarian Cannibal!"

I just love the terrified little vegetables and fruits attempting to flee!

Not these two!

and there.... in the back corner of his cave
is a terrifying sight!
Heeeeeeeelp us!

here's a close-up of his face...
i love his plumeria eyes!
Not quite useful
but he has a great sense of smell
and the vege-mals aren't too fast....

Welpers! it's late and i still got a lot of stuff to do..
stuff that involves art,but doesn't involve creating art...
like art fleas!

Ah! tomorrow's studio night!
Think I'll play hermit and getta lotta stuff done for booben's parking lot Sale!
Cheerio Mates!

Awsum posum Ken , realy diggin the colors , man very nice LOVE the transparent candy kinda look Flippin Rad . those in Bikinis and Shirts would just be rad .

I agree Grog... Kinny should work.

dig the new sig!

Pop!!!

Depth!!!

Boing!

Incredibly eye-popping work! :o
Here's an offering to help you forgive me for the prank :drink:

Vegetarian Cannibal
:music: :music: I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (having their insides revealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (burning off calories)
How do you think that feels (bet it hurts really bad)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (and that's a real crime)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go)
It's time to stop all this gardening (it's dirty as hell)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade is a spade is a spade)
:music: :music:

Are you kidding me? Is that all you've gotten done? :P

I wanna sew a Shaheen-style dress with this fabric. Like this one

I'll take 5 yards, please!

and there.... in the back corner of his cave
is a terrifying sight!
Heeeeeeeelp us!

Ok, that little dude on the bottom looks PISSED! Will there be a veggie uprising? They may be small, but there's a LOT of them!

All kidding aside, that's some amazing work. So much to see, so much to love. The Staring Contest is most excellent, I really like the high contrast and popping color! I can't wait to see it all in person at BoBen Party, Pallie.

Fabric of your patterns really WOULD be awesome... so many possibilities..

I wonder if they could capture the vibrance and color in textiles?

T

Great work as usual. I'm lovin' me the colors in Tiki Tribal.

Dude board shorts and Bikinis , and take some of them kewl paintings and putum on Surfboards then inlay um with resin .

Niiiiiiice....
The colors in "Kane" (my favorite) are on fire!
The last two pieces are certainly epic, with "V.C." being a truly twisted twist on the cannibal idea.
FANTASTIC stuff, man.

C

Haha, the secret it's out! that's how you look like when you are being cranky? :) glad you have so many arms to paint such beautiful art!

Exciting art Mr. Kinny!
Such vibrant color choices.
"The staring contest" is my fav also.
I agree, many of these would make killer
aloha shirt/skirt/etc...patterns.

Claudette says hi back and is ready to plan
your hula girl B'day surprise! :) Let us know
when it is and then forget that you told us. :D

Hello!
soooooooo tired!
Yawn!
Well,after sunrise service
i shot down to the studio to shoot some work
and do a...
DRIVE-BY POSTING!
I'll answer all you kind folks when i gets time
but after
1)driving to the studio
2)setting up the tripod and shooting the paintings
3)rushing a quick cigarette on the drive home
4)downloading the photos into the computer
5) cropping and adjusting each picture
6) then saving a hi-rez version
and a "for web" version
7) uploading them for all of you
i think i can just take a DRIVE-BY NO REPLY day
and get back to y'all!
Hugs!
These are all for BooBen's Parking lot Sale on May 3rd
(or Oasis if they decide to stick around...)
"the Cannibal's Victim"
gouache on gessoed wooden bread-shaped plaque
(from Caroline! Thanks girl!)

Close-up....HALPS!

and here's my first Caroline islands mask
i made him with a smile
and now he looks like the "V for Vendetta" guy!
"Caroline Islands Mask"
gouache on gessoed wood
(another one from Caroline! :) )

Peepers!

Smile!

This one and the next one are monkeypod or koa wood bowls
that LOLTiki sent me!
Thanks pal!
Told ya i'd make some-tin purdy out of em!
"Mid-Day"
gouache on gessoed wood

this is closer to the true colors

"Guardian"
SOLD!
gouache on gessoed wood

close-ups! again closer to the truer colors

"GIT OFFA ME HEAD!"

Vegetation!

"PNG Bowl"
SOLD!
gouache on gessoed wood

çloseup!

This was an old "Home Sweet Home" plaque...
i think Squid may have found this, but maybe not..
he's got a good eye...

"the Flower Gatherer"
gouache on gessoed wood

closeup

This one was a Medieval Times Shield i got from Caroline
(that lady spoils me!)

"the Gathering"
gouache on gessoed wood

This next one ...i don't remember who sent it..
jonesy? hmmmmmmm...
Anyways, this one is kinda funny
it involves a Maori tiki stealing a Lono's helmet
and running off with that and one of his prized pineapples!
don'tcha hate when that happens?
"the Stolen helmet"
gouache and gold sumi ink on gessoed wood

the prized pineapple!
gasp!

and my favorite..
this one used to be "Blue Ku"
but after a couple of events
i decided to give him some new life
and painted right over him!
i had done a marquesan Drummer sketch a while back
and decided to transform him
into a tiki/native
and also change his pose..
So here it is...
with a painting more befitting of a Bamboo Ben frame!
"Night Drummer"
SOLD!
gouache on gessoed wood
with bamboo ben frame!

there's something simple and sweet about this guy...
makes me wanna do some more!

closeup of the upper half

closeup of the bottom half!
Dig that crazy Drum!

Now, what happens when you do that many pieces
that make you smile
and you're not ashamed of
something's gotta give...
your luck runs out...

and so it is with this last piece...
something to do with the original varnish
coming up thru the gesso and gouache and reacting
VERY BADLY with the matte fixative....
here is the scapegoat...
"Volcano"

Here's a closeup..
looks like some of the athlete's foot we got in Okinawa...
Ewwies!

Anyways,accidents do happen
gotta keep on plugging forward...

Oh!
Just so it don't look like i'm slacking..
started a drawing too!

That's it for now!
enjoy the holiday
and we'll talk soon!

Hey Ken- I love your PNG bowl and Night Drummer - Excellent pieces! I'm just seeing these.... It appears that I have to check this thread every 15 minutes if I want to be up on your latest stuff!

Alright!
i've been slow in my replies
Sorry for the rudeness!
I'm already backlogged 5 lil paintings and a drawing
but those will have to wait til the beginning of next week
so all the weekend additions can be posted as well....

First off,
Thank you ALL for your visits and comments and hilarity...
they keep this little boy goin....

We'll start with Sam's..
Night Drummer just flowed out.
I was leafing thru sketchbooks and the face and drum just hit me
and it was ON!
No need to check this thread every 15 minutes...
You need to get more awesome paintings done!
like that latest Twilight at Tiki gardens!
i love that you're returning to that style again!
Keep Rockin my friend!

Jymmy-I'm right there with you squirrel boy! Bikinis and Shirts...it would be fun to return to the long neglected fabric print jag i went thru in the 90's....
Perhaps these drawings are a way to fulfill that need....

GROG-i HAVE worked for fabric.design/sportswear companies before...you know that!
Is that sarcasm? Don't you have a mess of a "One-of-a-Kind" thread to put back in order?

Jonesy-No petitions forcing me to work, please! I enjoy playing far too much!

Mad Dog Mikey!
Wow!
You made a whole song outta that?
my favorite line is

Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go)

What's wrong with you?

Kiki!
yup.... I'm a slacker.. Sometimes i have too many phone calls and visitors and the flow gets interrupted...You should see me on a 12 hour isolation hermit mode day!
Get a LOT done then!
I should just hand paint 5 yards for you to sew!

"Veggie Uprising"...Now that's a great idea!
It would be fun to see the vege-mals gettin their payback!
:)

Monkeyman!
Rad Heather Watts frame,BTW!

Here's the deal...
If you all send me $100 apiece
i could afford to produce a roll of fabric and get them sewn!
(Money back Guarantee-not valid in Continental united States or the other two...)
Working on prints before, there are ways to capture the vibrancy
depends on the ink/the fabric/the style of printing..
I'm a wet print on lava-barkcloth man,myself!

Mango! How's Florida,man?
I'm a sucker for green and black too!
I'll bang out a few more soon...

Jymmy-you're a broken record!
why laminate surfboards
when you can paint em?

Andy-The warm colors do bring it out more...
Thank Squid for the Vegetarian Cannibal concept..
that boy is the funnest to brainstorm with!
and it's "KANYE" to you!

Speaking of...
Squiddles!
YOU know what i do in my spare time!
paint/draw/watch Netflix/and bug you on the phone
among other things.....
Love that little PNG incense holder in the orongo boat you made!
Moccasin Lacing...genius!
:)

Doodles to you and Andy!

Benz!
Always a pleasure to get a visit from the master!
No Indian Deity hands here..
but robot hands are on the drafting table!
The trick is to eat fast/take short naps
and obsess on art inside your head ALL DAY!
with all that bottled up motivation/inspiration/creativity
it's gotta go somewhere! The valve has to be loosened on occasion
so the pressure don't burst open my brain, but besides that
and ex-marine Corps training
that's all you need..
Where do you get all YOUR energy and motivation?
I'd like to tap into that!

Clarita-i turn red when I'm crabby, not blue!

Iokona-Hello you two!
How's Velvet betty coming along? She looked killer last time i checked...
I'd love to have a Staring Contest with you jason
but my neck would get sore looking up for so long!
I'd like to take my hula girl birthday dance and donate it to Squid
he deserves it more than i! :)
you kids are too cute!

And that's it!
and that concludes the Reply portion of the thread..
Thank you for your patience....
:)

I love the "Figi Foot Fungi", has a very vintage look about it. I'm thinkin' a little tough actin' Tinactin would clear that right up.

Ken, I know you don't have any spare time for Googling, but I can't take credit for that song. "Carrot Juice is Murder". Hilarious song by the Canadian band Arrogant Worms.

B

Love the new signature boss...that black background makes those colors sing.

MDM- Arrogant Worms sang that song....
What a great band name...
almost as funny as Don Knotts Overdrive!
I can't even imagine a Canadianalternative rock sound...

Tinactin only works on humans ,not painting!
Man! between that and the 2-4 inch cockroaches...
Yikes!
i am bummed that they discovered those underwater ruins
near Okinawa
AFTER i was back on the mainland...
:(

Babs!
Thank you! That image is up in a gallery on Gecko's website as we speak!
Stoked that you and Bowana are setting up the double B ranch in the oasis Artist Alley!Hopefully, all those consumers won't be buggin us so we can get some visitin done!

But before all of that..
If you've been sleeping under a rock all year....
please wakeup/dustoff/and get thee down to....
BOOBEN's NOONER on may 3rd!

I'm posting it cause..

  1. I'm gonna be there selling my sub-par wares to gullible rubes
  2. cause i made the flyer
and the guitar smashers are just too funny not to share!

I'll be crazy-making new art for this gig the next few weeks..

Such as.....
"the Cannibal's Home"

Then i went simple and tribal for a few affordable pieces...

"Birdman"

"Dance"

"Drummer"

and my favorite from this batch....
not sure who donated all these great paintable surfaces...
i have severe memory loss
from government experiments
and other maladies....
but Thank you!

"the Ruffians"

and here's a detail...

Also, here's a blurry moai piece (i'll scan it next week and re-post it here..
"The Perilous Situation"

Those poor lil Moai! What are they ever gonna do?

and, just so you don't think I'm a slacker..
started on a small Solomon islands inspired one....

Thas'all!
Thanks for the Pop-by!

I'm lovin' those simple pieces, but then I'm simple.

man...I'd love to open an old googie diner and have you design surreal, dreamy murals a la Sambos
