Thanks Kate. I'm happy with Lono's headress, and I've come around to being okay with Kanaloa's. Something about the artist knowing how it was supposed to look. Craig, thanks on the color. It's Golden Dark Oak Walnut. Two half-cans of leftover stains, mixed together! Thanks seeks, yup, both were started last Sunday, and finished this Sunday. Tomorrow, the start of the next order. |

There's no mistaking who these are by, whatever style/region you're working in. Great job on both headdresses! Do you do your shadows with the torch? They're always spot-on. I see a lot of tikis that look "overburned" (or underdone!) but you get it just right. |

Thank you Buzzard, Spermy, Paipo, Grog, and Thomas! Speaking of commissions, I have one for Father's Day, and I started it today. here's where I'm at. I need to work the Dad's name in the top of the headress, and the 4 daughters' names into the back. |

Thanks buzzard, AA, and Ben! I did just a little more on the Kahuna Jay tiki. (that's what I have to carve into the forehead). I carved in the teeth, and part of the headdress. While I had the camera out, I took two pics of my work area. I know I'm a month late for Show Your Workspace Month, so what! :P The outside workshop. The inside workshop. You can see the outside workshop in the background. Today I started another commission, and I used a crazy-dangerous tool I borrowed from my neighbor. It's a regular Skilsaw, but has a vertical chainsaw attachment! :o |

Thanks LLT, BigT, and surfinT. I get that grain on the Moais to pop with a nylon 'wire wheel' that goes on the end of a drill, and a lot of time! Clys, logs? What logs? :P Started another tiki today, here's what I got done. Damn, I put tools in the shot for scale, and it STILL looks small! |
