Nice Marq Bill, I can imagine the Prius is bustin' out with Pride. I'd love to see the guy get home and unpack it in front of all his envious friends! Cool like only you can do.

Did some more, and it's pretty much ready to hand over to Hank.

I didn't carve in any kind of mouth, I'll leave that for Hank.

I got the tiki back from HodadHank yesterday, here's what he did to it!

Too Crazy!!! :o :o
I'll stain/burn it, and bring it back to Hank for a couple final special details!
Stay tooned.

L

P

That is awesome!

K

Wow, that came out crazy! Nice team effort there.

WOWZA!
That is one Cool Meetin of the Mimes!
er Minds!

Stain it!!!!!!!

4

Stained it today.

Carve: Awesome!
Stain: Top Notch!
Background: Beautiful!
Pedestal: Not so much  :D

Nice work Bill :)

S

Nice! love the detail on him.
The weight of that one-way pecker is collapsing the stand.

Lookin' good Bill. I guess I better find that abalone...

He needs a name...King of the Peckers.
Inspiring tiki too.

How about Dongatiki?

4

Yeah, they don't make those plant pots like they used to, Mike and seeks!

I did more staining, specifically all the fine tattoo lines. What a bitch, one inch at a time!

I used an more substantial pedestal, the old standy deck.

It's gotten less red, I may give it one more coat tomorrow, then it's off to the Hankster's.

B

Incredible works 4wheeler!

Not meaning to sound to rude but that is some serious 3rd leg. That's what I call, 'standing proud'. :D Would make alot of men envious. :o Is he some fertility god for those who don't "measure up" to their full potential? Very nicely done. 8)

A Classic!!!!
God of all man, King-Dong Tiki!

I did give it one more coat of red stain, then dropped it at Hank's gallery for the show. It was July 4th, at the beach, and I had to park illegally, so I did not get to snap a final pic. Hank's a better photog than I am anyway!

Lots of good names here, but I'll let the buyer name him!

Must admit it looks pretty snappy here in the gallery amidst the Robb Hamels, Kinny Ruziks, Sam Gambinos, Eric the Reds and Erin Joys. Already lookin forward to the next HodadHank & Wild Bill Collins colab.

4

Pretty snappy indeed! And he has a distant cousin there in the pic next to him.

B

Excellent work from both you guys, Love the collaboration!

4

We set the bar high with that tiki, so I had to carve up a couple basics to remember where I'm from!

Basically Beautiful Billy!

You need a few simple ones
in betwen the Mind-Blowing ones.....

4

Thanks Ken! Here's more of the simple ones!

This tiki has been hanging around for weeks with the body as is, and the head just a large blank chunk'o'wood. Finally had an idea what to do with it.

Kinda different, I think I like it...not sure if the head goes with the body, but there it is!
Side shot:

It's not done yet, obviously.

I also started a Ku today.
I tried to carve as much as I could with the chainsaw, here it is before any chiseling or sanding.
Doesn't get much rougher than this!

Ringo is not impressed.
Tomorrow I'll start with the hand tools.

S

Love the Ku so far 4WD. I cant wait to see what he looks like when you clean it up.

L

WOW! Lot of cool work in your thread this week... You're on fire man!

J.

S

You set the standard on these little fellas. Clean, tight and perfect.

4

Thanks swizzle, laojia and seeks!
I cleaned up the Ku a little tonight, here's where I left it.

Good stuff all around!

Combo tiki is killer!

I'll trade you some Ash for some of that palm! My arms need a break!

Love the Ku! Best of luck with him!

4

Are you coming to Oasis, Dave? You can take back a chunk of palm then!

S

Ku is cleaning up very nice.

I saw the Ku yesterday, looking good. I was thinking today a short video of you prepping with the chainsaw would be entertaining and helpful. The Ku would have been great one to watch you in action. Just a thought, I like your stuff and try to learn by going back in your threads to help me along the way. I believe your stuff is the easiest to learn from out of all of the other artist on here. I would bet most would agree with me too.

At least he didn't say they all look the same... :P

Yay!

Just saying from a new guys perspective that tries to learn everyday. Everything is meant as a compliment in the highest regard.

4

Thanks, Drastic, I take it as a compliment! Keep learnin'!
Thanks Grog and Babs!
Buzzy, I know you have an elephant's memory!

Yesterday, rounded off the chest and arms some as the blocky look wasn't working for me. I burned the whole tiki to a charcoal finish, then sanded it off like burnt toast. Here's where it stands.

This one is staying simple and basic to keep the cost down, for a hopefully quick sale.

4

Finished pics of the Ku.

I also got this one done today.

C

both great!

T

Man Bill your work is always so clean!!!!

S

Ku came out real nice. Nice clean crisp cuts and sand as expected.

4

Thank you thank you!

I had some time today so I started on a rush job that someone is picking up this weekend. With the pressure on, I started right in with the chainsaw.
After 30 minutes, here's what I had:

Picked up the mallet and my favorite chisel, and in one more hour I had this:

Here's all the tools used so far:

Next, the angle grinder!
