Update.
I havnt been here in a million yrs. the last yr ahs been all kinds of not cool from tiki as a sccne. After 30 yrs of waiting my turn for recognition and still being excluded or acknowledged as a tiki artist. I said fkit and bialed. I've removed myself as much as possible from participation. The stalker and endless harassment Ive receiveed for talking about my own scene history wasnt worth playing along anymore. which sucks cause Im still a tiki artist. Its my lifes work. not a hobby or a side hustle its my full time gig. I work in my studio 16 hrs/day 7 days/ wk doing what I do and getting my work out there the best I can using social media to market myself. I will most likely never attend another event unless Im specifically invited and for that to happen i would need to be recognized for my work and the place in scene history that I earned as the first woman artist from the initial revival.and at this point thats will probably never happen because im already blakclisted and viewd as " bitter" ( a projection BTW). not bitter just no longer willing to be mistreated. For those that still have no clue how far back I go- the very first group tiki show was in SF mid 90's , 3 west coast artist. Bosko , Shag, and me. Yet Im still not considered significant enough to be included as a tiki artist or recognized for my decades of work. there are no documented accounts of scene history that inclued me. I dont vend. I despise vending. to me its like an art zoo. where you are in your little cage( vending booth) vistiors file past and look in with there judgemental hang ups. and theres 1 or 2 kids that came just to see your falvor of animal. If you arnt on the popularity train then you get treated like the bear with mange.

so really Im super disillusioned with the whole thing. its better for me to do my version of tiki outside of arbirtartly imposed made up " rules of social conduct" that seem to be applied to artists in this scene. as if we are all supposed to have the exact same perosnality. some last century hangs ups if you ask me as opposed to accepting people for who they are . ( that ones got a bazillion layers to it)
so being dissed by the scene is still a wound for me and I most likely wont be ackowledged for my constributions until after Im long gone and some newb comes along and " discovers" me and uses my lifes work to make a name for themselves. hah

ah no way! I actually remembered my password. I dont participate in the " scene " at all anymore except for the ocassional drive by picture sharing. BUTT I still make tiki art day in and day out. its my full time gig and I still have mountains of ideas I haven't even gotten to yet. I've been busy transitioning my brand from Sophista-tiki to PanExotica77 and upping my game as usual. All my lines are still in play with a few new ones added in like the Castaway Cravats satin ascot/scarf, handpainted tapa wallpaper and PanExotica77 t-shirt design collection. Currently I've got Sophista-tiki togs shirt orders, DAWNCRAFT decor pieces, a couple of RUGXOTICA commissions going, and the never ending stream of print orders to fill. You wont see me vending anywhere but you can always check out the latest work on my IG which gets updated daily. Theres a couple recent interviews, photoshoots and books floating around out there,,,,,, and (this is a big deal for me perosnally),,,,, I was finally included in the narrative of tiki scene history as one of the founding artists and the first female artist of the revivial genre dating back to the inception of the tiki revival in the mid 90's. That only took over 30 yrs and had to come from Italy. I've actually been doing tiki art exclusively since the late 80's. I understand I'm the only one who cares about that. LOL. anyway heres some eye candy. welcome back TC

my yrly visit to TC only cause I got tagged in the post on the new book Polynesiacs Tiki at Home . Thats my living room and Im honored to have my work on the cover.
