Yeah, Cammo, Thats a Great SunSet, Thanks for helping the Buzz out.

It's been a dreary week here in old Virginia, That really brightened my night. thanks =)

P

Seeing all those guys together makes for a pretty impressive line-up Buzzy - pretty sweet to see how many of them found new homes too. Your stuff is getting really tight and I dig the lava influence.
Thanks for posting the pics too, they make me feel a lot better about all the random tiki/work related crap strewn throughout my own dwelling...............

Hey Benzart. I've been keeping a low profile ever since my debut in the latest issue of Tiki Magazine:

I can be found on page 19. It's finally nice to be recognized for all my hard work. I'm going to be autographing these and selling them on ebay pretty soon. I've been busy meeting with my publicist and image consultant about where I'm going to take my tiki career from here. Since I figured you all checked me out in the magazine, I didn't want to suffer from overexposure this week, so I didn't post on TC. By the time you east coast guys get your subscription copies, I'll already be a has been for several weeks.

Hey Cammo, thanks for taking over sunset duties while I was ducking the tiki paparazzi. Here are a few boring California sunsets from the last few days:

I decided to take a week off from carving. It took me several days to clean my house, because I worked slow and did a real good job. After I got my house looking like a normal house for a change, I wanted to try to live for a week in my house like a normal person. No wood chips and projects all over. I have to admit, I was pretty bored after about two days and it was real hard not to work. I found a website called MY tube and I burned a couple days on that, but that too got boring. Only one more day and then I can start another run of projects...I can't wait. This has been a hard vacation

I did bring another display case home a couple days back:

Here it is decorated and loaded up:

Gman: I'm going to spend a chunk of change on tools this week. :)
Paipo: My house isn't like that anymore!
Cammo: I have a phobia about drinking out of plastic. Only glass in my house...

As Seen In Tiki Magazine and On Vacation in My Living Room Buzzy Out!

[ Edited by: Bay Park Buzzy 2007-04-22 01:19 ]

Phobia about glass - wow - I'm the exact opposite. I have tile floors and two mini-me's running around. Don't even get me started about tiki mugs! (I own 3).

H

Buzzy did you get a chance to take a picture of the house when you cleaned it before you started living in it. Like a before and after picture. In fact you could start a thread in Beyond Tiki under before and after. Think of all the possibilities.

H

Oops, my mistake that would be Bilge, for drunk people instead of Beyond Tiki. I don't want to get you in trouble posting in the wrong places.

B

Abandon all hope, you who enter here...for Master B rocks this house again!

I missed the posts Buz...glad your back.

Hey Babalu: I didn't really go anywhere, except my living room couch, but I'll be back to work tomorrow when my time period of being a non carving guy expires. I can't wait to get off of vacation.

Here's today's clouds to dark transition:

I think sunset season has officially ended here. I'm trying to somehow make a global warming connection to scare all of you into drastically altering your life styles. If you don't drive your cars, you will have sunsets again. Think of the environment and stay at home.

Hiltiki: I'll post away tomorrow...I think I have some funny pictures of how nice my yard was before I was a tiki guy.
Alohastation: There are too mugs out there anyway...you are probably better off not having those things lying around. I've seen many a good man and woman stricken with some sort of mug hoarding affliction. Makes me sad to see it. Glad you are doing well, though, but you might want to turn the three mugs over to the little ones for proper disposal; they might be lying dormant and still have some mug fever bacteria hiding in them. Better safe than sorry. Good luck getting rid of those before they multiply and take over a room in your house. (Many of the largest mug collections had on ly three in them at one time.)

I Brake For Tiki Kate's House Buzzy Out!

Here's a sunset I forgot to post last week while I was on vacation at my house:

See, you guys didn't miss a thing.

Here are a few shots of today's end:

It rained a little bit last night.

Hiltiki: Looks like the living room is carve ready

Some guy thought he recognized me the other day. He asked where he may have known me from. I told him I was just featured in the new Tiki Magazine. He was absolutely sure that was not it.

I guess I'd better get to work now...
Buzzy Out!

That movie Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift is on in the background. I keep looking for my remote, but then i get distracted and start carving some more. The whole night goes like this: After a bit of time, annoyed, I look for the remote, get sidetracked, and keep on working. Tokyo Drift stays on for the entire viewing.
I hope something good comes on this channel after the white guy beats the yakuza japanese guy in a drifting race. If I find my remote before the next movie comes on, I'm going to find the girls gone wild informercial.

Progress:

He's just a little guy...
Buzzy Out!

Here's where I got this guy before I turned in for the night:

It's a beautiful day today...

Yesterday's sunset:

Another one is on the way, and some tiki crap too...

You sit in your livingroom in front of the tube every night while you carve?!

No Way!! Me too!!!

('Cept for the carving part).

Hey man next year we gotta get a little chop set up at SD Earth Day in Balboa Park.

B

Gee, I wonder if Sherry would mind if I carved in the Living room while watching the tube?
Looks like the Buzz is almost back to working order?

We never see pictures of Buzzy in the living room carving, but we always see the dog in the living room near the carvings. Judging by some of the other threads on TC, GROG have a sneaky suspicion that it's the dog doing all the carving and Buzzy taking all the credit. GROG also pretty sure the dog can bench more than Buzzy (that's a pretty stout looking dog).

Sunset guys:
When I first started taking the sunset pictures, the sun was setting over the water on the far left of this panoramic shot. Now it's way over there to the right going up the hill.

I just wanted to make sure that you guys didn't think I moved because you saw that my sunset view had changed to the mountains recently.

Some closer ups to enhance the daily sunset wow factor:

Only six more months until the sun sets on the water again!

That's why the GROG moai isn't signed. She can carve, but still cannot write. That proves that carving is easier than writing. As for the bench pressing weight, I lift strictly for bulk(light weights, many reps), as opposed to lifting for strength(increasing weight sets, less reps per set), like my dog does.

Almost, most of the time, at least. It is still very day to day, and I have to take it extra careful all of the time. I'm not quite ready to do big full size work yet, so I'm just working on some small stuff until I'm a little stronger. I did some log prep stuff today, and that is the hardest work for me to do. I have to take a bunch of breaks and spread the job out over time so I don't hurt myself again. Here's a couple shots of some logs I've been playing with today:

I'll feel that tomorrow!

I'll post some more tiki work when the dog gets up

Oh my God Buzzy.

I thought I had woodchip issues in my house.

I'm still loving the sunsets.

H

Kate, you have wood chip issues in your house?...... NOT!

Hiltiki: I see the world in strict terms of black and white. Right now, I've just divided the human race into two categories: Those who brake for Tiki Kate's house and Those who do not brake for Tiki Kate's house. Do you brake for Tiki Kate's house?
TikiKate: How much can you bench?

I think I finally have some tiki stuff to show:

I messed up the upper legs with the first cut I made and I've been trying to carve my way out of it all night.

My dog wanted to show you guys her progress too:

She made a Kulono:

It's actually a table leg(This was NOT done in photoshop):

I need some chocolate milk so the dog and I are going to 7-11 now.

Buzzy Out!

Good Morning Tiki fans.

B

Master B,

Your carving from yesterday is sweet...and Cujo there, well he's got quite a talent too....but, I have to say, my poohie, well...he been known to rip 20' Mexican Palm trees right out of the ground...root ball and all! Every time he starts to carve, however, the log disappears...don't know where they go?

GROG posted on Thu, Apr 26, 2007 1:39 PM

Damn, Babs!! That's one formidable looking dog!

That's the second day in a row seeing that pic!

That guy needs to step up to Granite!

I've been praying all day that somehow that picture of that dog would turn into a movie and I could see it take down that horse. the only thing I'd rather see is that dog kill a giraffe. Giraffes are stupid, tall, and clumsy, and I would love to see that dog tear into a ten foot throat. If giraffes are endangered, then I'd settle for seeing the dog take down the horse while the chick was riding it. The reason I bring this up, is because those two people in the park look like they like tikis.

Speaking of tikis, suddenly this one got part of his face:

Put my tarp back up for some quality outside chip manufacturing.

TikiKate: I know what mean about keeping quiet. I usually shy away from telling people I'm in training for the World's Strongest Man Competition because I get tired of being asked to perform amazing feats of strength. Now if I could just gain another forty stone of muscle...

How much is forty stone anyway?

H

Buz, that tiki on the right side is called Ramsestiki fer sure. It is nice. The big one, you know.
Have you started doing big ones yet?

It's 560 pounds Buzzy. That's a little too much muscle for anyone.

From Teakey's Critiki's thread:

I'm going to pretend he didn't, because that works out (to be listed with those guys) better for my egocentric lifestyle. Even if you didn't mean it, I'm still going to think of you as my new best friend. Thank you.

I'm down with chips too!!!What was that Cammo, I'm sorry, I was reading what my new best friend, pablus, was saying on my long time favorite thread, Teakey's Critikis. Oh yeah something about posting too much...

Here's my first post of the day, and it has some tiki carving in it:

I plan on mowing the lawn today.

TikiKate:I only have to lift 40 stone, not weigh forty stone. I misread the rules manual. For a minute I didn't think it would be doable. What a relief.

This guys done until final sanding time:

The wood tones cause me to see false shadows and mess with my depth perception in these pictures. The deepest carved parts, where there should be darker shadows, are lighter because the wood is white.

I'm probably going to have to make the nose a little smaller

I used my smallest flat chisel, a 1/8 veiner, and the hookknife to do the teeth.

Buzzy Out!

Did the sun not set in Cali today? Amazing work as usual Buzzy, I can hear him calling to me.. I think he wants to live on my porch!

Hey Tornhalo:

Had a coastal marine layer sitting out there today.
Sorry it came so late today.

After I finished that tiki, I got this piece of wood ready.

It is going to have a stand/base

Hiltiki: I did a little more on the big guy. Just about done now, finally.

Don't ask what happened to the lawn mowing.

Buzzy Out!

What's with the Coors Dick in the background?

Leave lawn long.

Itz Artsy!

p.s.

How bout a Buzzy Web Cam ????

You're Amazingly Amusing!

B

Choice carve Buzz!

Yes, yes to the Buzz Cam!

Hopefully, you will bring some of your favorite knifes to one of the next Chops? You too Mieko, if your out there? I would like to pick your brains a little about them.

To mow, or not to mow? Babe #1 is strongly advocating that I do the lawns today before picking up a chisel....I must admit, it's starting to look like one could loose a giraffe in it.

C

Here's my latest update with the Oki Doki guy. This has been on the bench since last October, but contrary to popular rumor, I haven't been working a long time on it, if I'd been been working on it it would be done!

Did the hands, arms, and back of head.

Then did the feet, wearing sandals.

The feet; will do the edges of the sandals last, to make sure I don't bump them up more.

Sorry for schlebbing this onto your thread, Buzz. What ya think? Can I use some Cherry Stain for the arms?

Cammo OUT of his MIND.

Mi casa es su casa, Cammo. Post away. Takes some of the pressure off of me to post all of the time. I know how people come to the carving thread for continous updates, of not just me, but all of us carvers, so by all means, post away.
Stop by and I'll give you any stain you you need. You know that all I do is sit around and hang out with my dog all day anyway.

Coors and Viagra are potential sponsors for the webcam...

It's been really foggy at sunset, so here's yesterday's clouding:

Since there was no sign of the sun, I pointed the camera towards the water

Today is more of the same

This is what happens when you leave your gouges out in the fog overnight:

They have an appointment with some sandpaper and WD40.

I decorated a wall in my living/carving room today:

It's a work in progress and it will look much better with a quarter inch of dust on everything.

That big sitting guy looks sweet Buzzy! Coming along nicely. And your tiki room is swell too :D

Hewey: Hey thanks man! Only three walls to go now...

Tornhalo: Sorry about the sunset today:

It only got sunny for about an hour today.

Today's work was laundry and a custom sign that got ordered last week:

I still have to put some rope on it.

If you came here to see some tiki work, it's still a little early in the day for me to start, so here's an update of Cammo's OkiDoki tiki, which he came over and stained this afternoon:

He looks like a staining surgeon
Everyone thank Cammo for providing today's tiki work. Thank you Cammo.

Buzzy Out!

I can't wait to see the little guy finished..

Had a nice sunrise and sunset here today.. and the weather was pretty warm.. I got to drive my CJ to work.. I'm sure those clouds will be over virginia in a week or so to ruin my day..

I really have been caught up in this whole tiki palace decorating thing that I've been going through the last couple of days. Today, I even went out and bought a new coffee table for my carving/livingroom:

Totally matches! I'm in the process of doing another quick one on a less than perfect log. It's up there on the coffee table. I hope it doesn't ruin the finish. I'll have to readjust my lifestyle considerably now that have something new and nice. I don't want to ruin my new furniture.
I've been carving on my coffee table in my livimg/carving room while I'm watching those crazy Girls gone wild. See the tiki in progress. Progress shots help beginners learn to carve. (Spike Tv 1:30 am PST):

There are chips on the living room floor again. Home sweet home!

this tiki will come all of the way out of this log soon.

Here's a couple shots to look at when the weather is getting you down:

Took a sunrise walk at some hellhole down in Baja a couple summers ago. There was about a half mile long sidewalk of shells along the beach in a couple of coves

In some spots it was 3-4 feet deep with shells

Here's a close up of them during the morning sunrise:

Oh Mexico!
