Thanks to you, Babalu, and Professor Robot for getting this back on the world wide web for all to see! Thought I'd never see it again. Enjoy! The long lost House of Buzz original video trailer And, in case you missed the the first two episodes: Episode 2: Cleaning Mexican Fan Palms look for more episodes of the House of Buzz much, much later! Let's catch up on the drum, since that's what I worked on last few days Finished the bottom of the legs first: Then I did heaps of sanding on the drum and carved in the decorative designs After finish sanding, I started staining it. Here it is with one application Now after three coats: Jeeez! I need to answer some of y'alls comments. I feel bad that I've been neglecting you all lately. I've been a little sad and out of sorts last several days because I found out my dog has liver and stomach cancer and won't be around much longer. She's been off and on sick for the last few days so I've been distracted from my usual routine with her and haven't been keeping up on TC. I'll try to find some time to catch up tomorrow when I'm cooped up in the house because of the rain. I got a big new bag of clay to keep me busy for the rain storm! |

But I have been watching the progression of the chairs which came out beautiful! I look forward to planting my ass on one at Frankie's sometime in the spring! This drum is looking very nice as well. I finally got the drum the shade I wanted after a couple more coats of stain: In other crafts news, a glaze firing at Babalu's studio yielded me another finished mug. This was the first mug I made, second one to be finished Here it is in a side by side with mug #2 Finally!...
thanks Ben! Knew all you dog people would understand....Happy Bird day!
Thanks Benz! My investment manager told me I needed to diversify...
Thanks Babalu! Hey, I saw you mentioned in Tiki magazine. Some other hippy dude who slings clay says your one offs inspired him. Nice work!
Cool Jen. Been wondering where you've been. I've mostly been broadcasting in the day lately, but long winter nights of live broadcasting are upon us. See you there!
I love those happy natives...
You'll have to check my Buzzy Tiki Workout video for some tips on increasing your carving stamina. I rarely get tired anymore.
Hopefully I can get my own TV show and you can be part of the crew. Then we could hang out again.
Actually, one of them rocks...
I've been following hippies around hoping one of them would lead me to a drum circle. Where's a Dead show parking lot when you need one?
Thanks SN! I was actualy thinking of stretching a bear hide over it. I think it would sound cool to say it's made from real bear.
Hey Marcus, I was just reading about you in Tiki Magazine...
It's not that it's too much work, it's just that most of the work isn't fun.
I thought Japan got poor a few years ago?
It's so cute! I just took it over to Babalu's to be fired in the near distant future.
Thanks Wheeker! It's gonna be the SOUND that matters
Thanks Polynesiac! Hope I'll be running into you soon. Take care in the meantime.
I'm finally embracing the concept of diversity.
Actually, by the pound. That's why they are so heavy.
I'm going to try and put a tiki on things that have never had a tiki on them before. If it doesn't have a tiki on, I'm working on it.
Shouldn't you be arguing with some natives or something?
Thanks seeks! Unfortunately this machine leaves a large carbon footprint. But you know what they say about big footprints, right?
These chairs are like spiky high heels: meant to look good at the expense of being comfortable. I couldn't take any picyures with a person in them because as of that post, they were long gone already.
No. I don't have any friends. You're too big for them anyway.
Bring a seat cusion...
When you do, can you send a picture of yourself to Teakey?
Thanks Lake! Heading out in a week to see them in their new surroundings
and Grog to your GROG!
They are definitely more comfortable than standing up.
Thanks LLT!
Thanks`Duddy! Nice snow...

Hey thanks benz. Glad you could find it in all that mess. First, I need to share the non tiki trip I was on the last few days with my friends and family, here on my TC thread. Zaya and I went to Las Vegas for one of the most highly anticipated events on my calendar this year: The SASS western regionals at the luxurious Riviera, located right on the famous Las Vegas Strip! The perfect escape from the toils of work it was, with three days jammed full of the greatest music, vending, and shooting that one could possibly imagine. Here I am getting ready to check in and register: After I signed in, it was straight to the vending area. Here I am figuring out what I'm going to vend there next year: I'm going to reinvest the money I make by carving cigar store Indians and carts into my cache of single action competition rifles and pistols. I cannot wait until they'll let me carry my two loaded revolvers, an over under shotgun, and a repeating rifle in an open hotel lobby for a speed shooting competition When I'm a full time professional shooter, I'l be going against the likes of Spur Roberts and Billy Boots: After a full day of competitive shooting, The Smoked Manwiches set was the perfect ending to a perfect event and a perfect trip to Las Vegas: Well back to real life now:
That is damn cool! Thanks MadDogMike! Can you show me how to make them so I can fire a few that will say "Trader Buzzy's" on them? I cannot tell you guys how much I love these "tribute" pieces of me! I can almost see the museum devoted to my likenesses now... Of course there would be the CocoJonez:
The MadDogMike plate will be there in the collection displayed under glass like the Declaration of Independence is: Tbirdman had a close to finished pendant version of me a while back too. We'll probably cast those and sell them in the gift shop at the museum Another piece that was based on me will not be in my museum, but can be seen on public display at Frankie's Tiki Room, located on 1712 West Charleston, in Las Vegas Nevada. Open 24/7/365: Hopefully, someday I'll qualify to be in a Tonga Hut art show and I can add some of the ensuing photoshopped flyers of me in my museum too. Back to reality... |

When I was on my way to the previously mentioned SASS regionals at the luxurious Riveria on the famous Las Vegas strip( I have to say that now whenever I can in return the deal Zaya got for the room we were in), I saw a billboard that said "World's Largest Gentlemen's Club" right off the freeway. Later on in the trip, I pretended that we needed gas in the car and I drove over to where the strip club was hoping to find a gas station. Right before we got to the strip club, I saw this sign: “Every last piece in here was custom made for Frankie’s by the best, most famous tiki carvers in the world. Bamboo Ben, who is the foremost tiki bar designer in the world put the whole fucking thing together,” Moss said. and Double Down owner Moss started the process in January, purchasing Frankie’s before luring top tiki artists like Buzzy, Crazy Al Evans , Tiki Bosko, Leroy Schmaltz and Ray to come in and transform the old girl into a Polynesian oasis. I hope you guys will never get tired of hearing me frequently repeat "I am one of the best, most famous, top tiki carvers in the world..." So here's some more of my trip to Frankie's and Las Vegas, where I stayed at the luxurious Riveria, located on the famous Las Vegas strip: The front If you want to know how big Frankies is, use this picture of me in front of it for scale: Here's a good shot done by Frankie's of the interior with the chairs: And here's a promo shot we did on the pregrandopeningnight: Here are some pictures Zaya took of them:
For the grand opening night I put on my Sunday best: At the bar, I... Partied with Drake: And Flyboy and drake: And then I came home the next day. :( First time I left the house in a long time. |

I went over to Babalu's house today and glazed another mug and worked on the new drum. It's smaller than the last drum. It's 16 1/2 inches tall. The diameter of the drum rim is 12". The older drum's diameter is about 12 3/4". And speaking of the older drum, here are the final finished and detail shots of it: Leg Drum part Drum pattern details legs

Today's sunset: I needed to let the little drum dry a little bit, so I started on another larger one today. I got the drum part tapered in a few inches more but it was too dark to photo when I was done: Meanwhile at Babalu's studio: That whole bottom shelf, along with another mug laying down on the top shelf, is all my stuff going into a bisque firing on Thursday, I also have a mug in the glaze firing right now. Fingers crossed XX. Buzzy Out! |

I had this big pile of stuff waiting for me at Babalu's tonight: I worked like crazy glazing away and came close to finishing all these pieces:

The rain stopped and it dried out enough to work on the tall drum today I started to hollow it out because it's just too damn heavy to work with right now: In other Tiki news, all my crap came out of the kiln just fine Click here to see it all In case you are too lazy to click the link and look at it all, I'll include the best parts here My favorite piece: Here are all the pendants: And here is a special Director's Cut bonus behind the scenes look at the early sketches I did for a couple of them: More sketches and the pieces that came from them: I'd like to thank all of you guys who sent me well wishes when Kiva got sick a couple weeks back. I got some really good news today that I'd like to pass on to those of you who care. The recheck by the lab they did yesterday showed that what they initially thought was terminal liver and stomach cancer, turned out to be a severe infection that has totally disappeared with the antibiotics she has been on. The doggy doc says all her levels are now within the normal and acceptable range for a dog her age. She still has tumors, but they are not affecting the function of her organs right now as they initially thought.
Hey BigT: I got my hide at Tandy Leather. There's one close to me, but they are also online. It's a big chain. This place has a whole bunch of weird hides like elk, goat, steer, and bear I'm going to go give my dog a hug now. |
