A Mai Tai, but I'm out of simple syrup, so I added a little extra orgeat and a strong dash of Disaronno, oh and for rum, this time I used Appleton's V/X and Cruzan Black Strap.

... and I've got Martin Denny's Primitiva on the turntable.

Glad to see the Black Strap gettin' a lil love. :)

The last couple of times I made mai tais I used Cruzan Black Strap. I think it adds a bit of ... something.

Hey! What... are... you... drinking... right now?

A

Well, nothing at the moment. I'm at work. But give me time!

Skim milk. Really. It's Thursday.

Mides Touch.

Xtabentun.

Pindar Ice wine I got last time I was home on Long Island. Early in the evening I was at Nude Nite and drank absinthe, which seemed to not live up to the hype (the absinthe that is, not Nude Nite).

S'who's askin'?!?

JB

Coffee...(look at the time).

At lunch today, just had an Appleton's Rum Cocktail:

1 1/2 oz. Appleton's V/X
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
1/2 tsp Creme de Cacao
Shake with ice, strain into chilled martini glass.

Pretty good, but better with El Dorado.

Blackbeard's Ghost (pirate grog). Fresh lemons and oranges from friends and family and neighbors put this drink on heavy rotation this time of year. Generally I'll use the Cruzan clear, but the other day I tried it with Barbancourt clear and liked it a lot. Also tried it with 10 cane and that too is very good.

Right now, I'm enjoying a rum and pineapple juice with Bacardi 151 and an equal amount of Disaronno... kinda nutty... I like this stuff. I don't believe the classic faux tropical recipes use much amaretto, but instead they call for orgeat... for some nut flavor.

Bongo, orgeat is an almond flavored syrup, different beast, i am going to make a zombie shortly for this rainy day

Yeah, I know... it's still nuts...

awe nuts

I usually do the dark rum/aged rum combo, but right now I'm having a 100% Appleton V/X Mai-Tai.

Haven't had the V/X before, so I got a little sampler from the BevMo. Makes a damn good Mai-Tai for the price, and I wish I had just gone ahead and gotten a bottle.

Since they're about the same on the price break, let me hear ya'll's musings on whether the V/X or the Mt Gay Eclipse are better for the "everyday" Mai-Tai.

Next up, a 100% Pyrat XO Mai-Tai.

Not right now, but in an hour - Planter's Punch. Dad asked for a cocktail for Saturday lunch and we are overstocked with oranges and lemons. Almost running out of white rum, so we'll use the parents' Bacardi.

sorry. double post.
ended up mixing Cghief Lapu Lapu. Turned out too syrupish for my own taste, but the crowd liked it.

Sippin' on El Dorado 12 year.

A Don The Beachcomber's "Rum Barrel" in the original mug! Using: Castillo Silver, Appleton Estates 12YO and ElDorado 15YO. One of my favorites!

Good for you Ghangman... I'm mellowing out with Coco Lopez and Sailor Jerry...

Drinking a mojito alone on Valentine's Day. Not very romantic, but hubby has to work.

Harp's lager chasing some Bushmills Black Bush.
Feelin' Irish.
And too lazy to build anything more complex...

Picked up a bottle of Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum... I'll be sippin' it in about three hours from now.

Gave it a try and enjoyed it very much. Also sampled Bacardi 8 Year and really likdedthe full bodied flavor it presents. The Bacardi 8 Year was very good as a martini with a little Gran Marnier and Dark Creme de Cacao. Well... lunch is over and I'm back at "work".

60ml bourbon
30ml Cointreau
30ml apricot brandy

stir with ice and then strain over fresh ice in a double rocks glass

Not very "tiki", but, sooooo tasty.

Bum's Rush with Xtabentun instead of barenjager.

Mardi Gras, or as I prefer, Carnaval is approaching. To celebrate it was a Hurricane at lunch... Caipirinhas coming later tonight.

I'm too drunk to say.

Enjoying a delicious Sailor Jerry and coke. Supposed to get a bunch of snow with a winter storm starting tonight for the whole Chicagoland area. Decided to spend a quiet night at home cleaning and drinkin.

tj

The trick is to post after just the first drink.

Right now I'm having a drink, one of favs, with 2oz. of Sailor Jerry, 2oz. of Cruzan Black Strap and 4oz. of Coco Lopez. Much snow here, but my band is playing tonight at a Caranval celebration, so I'm about to head out... might have a couple of beverages during the gig... Cheers!

Right now, a polynesian paralyzis.

White Russian, dude.

Pusser's (blue label).

last night, but did not post, two Mai Tais based on proportions from Trader Vic's as laid out in the Grog Log, one with Clemente and Appleton V/X, subbed Cointreau, one with Coruba and Clemente, subbed Grande Marnier. The disappointing part was being out of homemade orgeat, used Vic's outs the bottle, so being that was the case cut out the simple syrup and used just their orgeat(since its pretty much just simple syrup anyways). Having those reminded me its definitely time to make some more orgeat. Drinks accompanied by Os Mutantes.

T

A protein smoothie....first meal of the day :P

Slightly warm coffee. Since I'm at work that is all I saying about whats in my cup......

again did not post last night, 151 Rum Swizzle and Coronado Luau Special

Last night, in honor of Mardi Gras, I made a Sazerac, a Ramos Gin Fizz, and a couple of Pimm's Cup. The latter isn't a New Orleans created cocktail or anything, but they are quite popular at the Napoleon House there.

A little Mai Tai with Bacardi 8 year and Myers.

A Vesper.

Mai Tai with fresh organic mint and limes from my yard, homemade organic, simple syrup & orgeat and Coruba and Lemon Hart 151, YUM...!!!

Mai Tai - St. James amber, Coruba and Senor Curacao. I gotta grow some blinkin mint!

Intoxica drink i had not made before, Plantation Daze

And now from Intoxica, a Sundowner, using Cognac Salignac V.S, stretched out that lemon a little too much to get the one ounce of juice, leaving me with some bitter that should not be there
