A great plan! I was nowhere near so brave... Me and the missus were sitting down to watch a movie with popcorn. I was originally going to make a jumbo gin martini -- dirty, with skewered olives -- but somehow grabbed a bottle of tonic water and made a jumbo gin & tonic instead. Tonight I can take another shot at it, but it will definitely be a tiki drink. I'll keep the Zombie in mind.

I love those little sampler bottles of absinthe! Not only are they a handy and affordable size, but the cap is a a perfect measuring device for a nice dose.

Mai Tai’s and Hurricane’s at TikiTolteca. Good but not as good as the drinks we had at Latitude 29. Also had the great pleasure of meeting the BeachBum Himself-Jeff Berry. Amazingly both tiki bars are in the same building. New Orleans is awesome! I will post pix when I get back to L A Heading for Florida in the morning.

The Fitzgerald, one of my favorite non-tiki cocktails

Hula's (Santa Cruz) Painkiller!

Manhattan at The Galley. This place has some nice tiki-ish decor but the menu is sadly bereft of any exotic drinks save the usual orange juice-grenadine-Myer's float "mai tai" monstrosity.

No exotics tonight. Wild Turkey 101 Mint Julep

Barrel of Rum at The Warehouse in MDR. I don't see this winning any cocktail competitions but for a $10 drink that comes with a souvenir glass it's pretty generous with the booze.

Hey Phil, what's the recipe? I just got some Plantation 5, and I'm interested in trying it out.
