Friday Night Navy Grog.. First attempt at an ice cone .. how did i do ?

It's tricky to pull off 'first time, all the time', the pointy end is the tricky bit - that'd be good enough for me :)

Back-to-back 151 Swizzles. Swizzle #1 = DtB version and Swizzle #2 = Hurricane's Mai-Kai Tribute recipe. Two really good drinks!

A perfect daiquiri at Melrose Umbrella Co.

Had a Paralyzing puffer fish and of course a Mai Tai at the Bali Hai this afternoon. Went back after dinner and had another Puffer.

Trying my hand at a Scorpion.

Started with Trader Vic's recipe, then tried the Luau version, then back to Trader Vic's with like a 1/4oz more Orgeat.

The original TV version was a little too citrus. The Luau version tasted too much Gin. The TV version with some extra Orgeat was pretty tasty, still a little kick of lemon but I think that was the point.

Served up after a little blending in our Trader Vic's Mai Tai 80yr anniversary glasses from our local watering hole here in Atlanta.

Damn, gonna have to work on getting the pics to be straight

Grabbed some Captain Morgan pineapple rum today. Mixed a shot of the rum with a shot of triple sec, splash of lime juice, lots of ice and some mixed berry juice. Now I need a name for it....

Wanted to play around with my new bottle of Hamilton Demerara. Did a round of Atomic Grog's SOS tributes with it. Good drink. Everyone enjoyed. Then did another batch with ED8 and everyone liked it slightly better. The version I made last time with ED12 still tops em all tho.

Yeoman's Grog from "Atomic Grog"

3/4 oz fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
3/4 oz rich honey mix (2-1)
1/2 tsp. Don's mix #2 (equal parts vanilla syrup and pimento dram)
1 oz light Puerto Rican or Virgin Island rum
1 oz dark Jmaican rum
1 oz Demerara 80 rum
1/2 oz of soda water
Very tasty

Some drinks I forgot to post from Maui and Oahu...

This Mai Tai from the Hula Grill must have been the most bastardized Mai Tai I have ever had... 4 kinds of juices?!? Guava, Passion Fruit, Orange and Pineapple. It did taste fresh though. It wasn't the worst Mai Tai on the trip (the worst was at the Edge of Waikiki bar on the beach).

The only Painkiller we ever saw on a menu pictured here at Montage beach bar. Spendy hotel.

Mai Tai at Fleetwoods. This was actually really good with the Passion Fruit froth. Had like 10 over 3 days. Showed Tom how to make a Painkiller, then I found out he was just voted best bartender on Maui :)

This was the BESTEST Mai Tai from Monkeypod Kitchen on Maui. I really think that this is beter than any of the Mai Tais on Oahu, even House without a Key! Rob and Scott met up with us and had drinks. Great guys!

I made a Pineapple froth to put on my OG recipe Mai Tai. Turned out great! Used these rums.

Had a lot of fun and spent a couple evenings outside of Waikiki at Pint & Jigger. This is a Mesquite Smoked Manhattan. I tried quite a few of their craft cocktails, they were all interesting and tasty. Such a good break spot to get away from the super sweet tourist Mai Tais. Also, they still had a bottle of Lemonhart 151 on hand...

I wonder why you went with the bastardized mai tais? Just for the heck of it? When I see the ingredients not lining up upon reading the menu I just skip on to the other options.

Cause it said "Fresh Juices." You saw my Guy Tai :wink: had soo many with bad juice that made my stomach hurt. Really the only downfall to this one was that I couldn't taste the rum. It would be a great Mai Tai for a tourist that had never drank a Mai Tai before and hated booze. Also, it was my first drink on Maui and I wanted a drink I guess.

Had a belated birthday party with a few friends and made a variation of Blood of the Kapu Tiki I'm calling Fire on Tiki Island, cuz, well, I wanted to set shit on fire. Was pretty tasty.
