Hiltiki,

This guava concoction sounds delicious! What do you call it?

Aloha LaraColada! The combination of nutmeg syrup, lime and Angostura will remind some folks of Jasper's Secret Mix:

Boy, the Christmas Eve of Destruction tribute sure is tasty. Thanks, HH!

Opened up my birthday present. This stuff is dangerously easy to drink for something coming in at 112 proof.

Can't seem to post any pictures, but I'm having a Rum Scaffa, which is a room temperature drink of 1 oz rum (I chose Plantation 20th Anniversary), 1 oz Benedictine, and 1 dash Angostura.

I joined everyone toasting Tiki Central's 20th birthday last night with a Reverb Crash ...

Lacking a mug from 2000, I settled for the oldest contemporary mug in my collection: Crazy Al's Ono Lono, created by Tiki Farm in 2003 and later featured at Forbidden Island and Trader Sam's. Another highlight of that year was a little book by Sven Kirsten. Okole maluna!

Right now I'm enjoying my own drink to toast Tiki Central's anniversary.

A

I saw this old ad for a defunct Chinese restaurant that includes a drink called the "Chop Chop Zombie."

https://classicsandiego.com/restaurants/george-joes-chinese-village/1960-05-29-chop-chop-zombie-ad/

So I decided to create my own interpretation:

1 1/2 oz 151-proof Demerara (Lemon Hart)
1 oz Baiju (ByeJoe Red)
1 oz Grapefruit Juice
1 oz Lime Juice
1 oz Orange Juice
1/2 oz Grenadine
1/4 oz Falernum Syrup (Fee Bros)
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 dash Ginger Liqueur (Canton)
Blend with crushed ice on high for five seconds. Pour into a tall glass. Garnish with mint sprig and two crossed chop sticks.

Hmmmm... Tiki Central is not letting me add images for some reason. Well, I also posted this on the Tiki Recipes page on Facebook.

BB

Just made something I wanted to call a Rummy-Mummy - a rum-based Hanky-Panky/Manhattan variation - but that name is already taken, it seems.

2 oz Jamaican Rum
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
1 dash Fernet-Branca
1 dash Orange Bitters

Stir and strain. Garnish with an orange flag.

Hamo,
So, I will finally have some time this weekend. I'm going to try your Anniversary Recipe....which curiously doesn't have a name!! Looking thru all your other recipes, they have names......but, I must say, I especially like the Hamo Ka-Blamo !!

I'll try to get a picture to see how well it matches to yours

Good point. I haven't figured out a name yet. Maybe you can offer some ideas....

Hope you enjoy it.

Just made a Trader Vic’s Kava Bowl for the first time.

Its garnish is an ice volcano (“erupting” thanks to some 151-proof rum burning inside the lime shell).

It was a tasty concoction, but I think I drank a bit too much of it too quickly...

Yesterday’s fun

quick throwdown for friends yesterday
3 South American Rums
Lime juice
Lat 29 Orgeat
Peychauds
Kummel

didnt get amounts, shaker sampled, had nice balance, rum forward, dry and sweet, poured over crushed ice, wife and friends enjoyed it.
They drank, i had a juicy IPA and got to play Hot Wheels with their wee one

Fun fact:

This drink was formulated by Hurricane Hayward to fit in the Barney West inspired mug that Tiki Diablo made for my wedding guests. Here's Hayward and I on the night of my wedding at the Mai Kai, him holding said mug:

Postscript...

For reference, here's the 27' (I believe) Barney West tiki that inspired the mug. A few years later, after several decades standing guard of the Mai Kai, a hurricane took him down. R.I.P. Barney.

Well, I had no idea. That's super cool. I drink to you and the missus.

Vanuatu Sands, my TC anniversary tribute:

Mahalo for sharing, Mike. Sadly, still no replacement for Barney ...

On the brighter side, the drink (and Barney) are being honored on the menu at the Waikiki Tiki Room in Mexico City ...
