Awesome, Hurricane! I know what I'm doing tonight :)

I know I speak for lots of us here in saying your site has brought much cocktail joy to my home. I visit it just as often as my treasured Beachbum books.

Thanks for all your hard work & happy holidays!

Much appreciated, happy buddha.

If I can tear myself away from the Bum's new book, I'll have two brand new Mai-Kai tribute recipes in early 2014.

Okole maluna!

More like pink hooters
Lol

Awesome

Myrtle Bank Punch: Trader Vic (left) and Don the Beachcomber versions from "Potions of the Caribbean."

I have a feeling this book is gonna keep me busy for a while.

HH- two thumbs up...

Mai Tai

Mexican coffe and a slice of my wife's homemade fruitcake. I usually top the coffee’s with unsweetened muddled cream , fresh of course. This evening I sweetened and whipped the cream with a dollup of agave syrup. Nice

Luna- it is dark there...

Luna = Christmas drinks in the dark!

I got some LH151 for Xmas I have managed to fit in a Cobra Fang, a 151 swizzle & a Boo Loo :)

However, this might be my new favorite cocktail:

Ive had Montego Bays with every jamaican rum in my collection now:

Appleton 8 & 12 being surprisingly only ok, Myers being good, Coruba being great, Smith & Cross being interesting & strong (a good use of S&C, it blends well). Appleton VX is my fave - worth a try :)

Yeah last night was dark, easier to smuggle with no lights on.

Stopped at Ventiki for a quick Mai Tai. Tasty!

Appleton reserve, Rhum Clemente, lime, lemon, green chartreuse, canton, orgeat, simple syrup

Still enjoying time off work for the Christmas break - between me & my girlfriends brother:

The Bali Hai (Shelter Island) is overflowing right now (happy hour) so my wife and I walked back to the half moon inn and I fixed us a couple of ”Red nosed Zebra’s “ ala Trader Sam’s. Going back at eight for some poke and a Mai Tai.

Nui umi umi, I hope you make it in!

Happy New Year's Tiki-ites...anyone have an idea how old this Ron Merito is? A friend picked it up at an estate sale and it's awesome all by it's lonesome

H

Trying out Montego Bay, thank you AdorAdam. Nice drink, next one I will use a little less St. Elizabeth Pimento dram.

In relation to the "Spiced Rum" thread, I am drinking Kraken and Coke - easy to make and enjoying a loooong buzz on my birthday while shooting zombies in Left4Dead2. When you have a kid, that's a hell of a gift!

Mai Tai's at the Bali Hai (ISan Diego) I use to like em. Too much rum now-needs better balance.

Kill Devil, I think early 1950s. A google image search turns up a lot of poster and magazine ads from the early-mid 1940s showing a "White Label" Ron Merito with the same square bottle and label design. I didn't run across a mention of the "Gold Label" product any earlier than a 1952 ad, and taking a quick look at a couple of the 1940s recipes put out by the company I only saw references to the light rum. By the early 1960s the ads are depicting different label art and possible a move to round bottles so I would think your bottle predates that.

Cool find! Glad the contents are tasty!

Hayward's tribute of Mai Kai's Jet Pilot. I've never been to Mai Kai, but it must be a great place, because these tribute recipes are even better than Donn's originals. So much flavor.

I need a road trip
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Made my own version of Oh So Deadly. The color could still be darker, but I'm getting there! So here's what I did;

1/2oz fresh lime juice
1/2oz fresh grapefruit juice
1/4oz fresh orange juice
1/4oz pineapple juice
1/2oz honeymix (I used 1:1, but if you use 2:1, maybe reduce to 1/4oz)
1/2oz cinnamon syrup
3/4oz dark jamaican rum
3/4oz demerara rum
1 dash angostura bitters
