I was taking inventory in my SharkBite Bar and found that I had a lot of bottles that only had 2-3 inches of rum in them. I’m gonna make Main Tai’s with them til they’re all used up. Gotta make room for the incoming full bottles. I Have plenty of Meyer’s so tonight the other rums were Boltran and Plantation. I enjoyed em both.
Cheers

Furiemir, that Mai tai looks good.

I'm having Trader Vic's Daiquiri with a twist

2 oz silver rum
1 oz fresh grapefruit juice, trying to use up my fresh white grapefruits
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz maraschino liquor.
Very good.

Hey Treg,
That mug is supercool!
Is this recipe anything like yours?
Saturn
1 1/4 oz Gin (Bombay Dry)
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Passion Fruit Syrup (Trader Tiki)
1/4 oz Orgeat (Trader Tiki)
1/4 oz Falernum (Velvet)
I really like St George Gin (it’s a botanical gin)-would it work in this drink?

Had a nice Mai Tai ( Meyers and Kaniche) and was gonna finish with a Rum Barrel. I had everything in the shaker but the oj. I went into the house to get the juice ( my bar frige was full of other essentials) and sadly I had no oj. Not wanting to toss what I had in the shaker I subbed Pineapple juice. Not a Rum Barrel but very drinkable nonetheless.
Cheers

Just made my first Port au Prince. Used the Smuggler's Cove modified recipe:
1 ½ oz. Rhum Barbancourt Five Star
½ oz. Lime juice
½ oz. Pineapple juice
½ oz. Velvet Falernum
¼ oz. Simple syrup
Dash grenadine
Dash Angostura Bitters

Pulse all ingredients with crushed ice for two seconds in a blender (do not make slushy).

Subbed 3 star for 5 star and Fees for Velvet - cut the falernum sightly. Still a drinkable, refreshing, and unique tasting drink. I'll be making more!

Thanks! New mug :)

Yes that is the same recipe I use. I used Ballast Point Old Grove Gin in mine. It is one of my favorites, try it some time if you get the chance. I also made my own Falernum and Orgeat. I think making your own Falernum really makes the drink. I will post my recipe for it soon, people keep asking me for it. I pretty much stopped using Velvet Falernum, I don't think it has a lot of flavor.

I have not tried St George Gin, but I will pick up some on your suggestion. I was kind of turned off to their brand after spending $60 on their Agricole rum ((Tastes like olives)(YUCK!)). Saturn is one of my all time favorite tiki drinks, I make them all the time!

PS: I think that St George Gin would make a good Saturn, being botanical.

Btw, I ran a little bit short of my homemade pf syrup so I subbed Bundeberg Passionfruit beverage (carbonated) and did not add soda. Very tasty! Hope I can remember what I did next time that I’m behind the bar,

Finally drinking at home again! Tonight I decided to make a 151 Swizzle w/LH 151, subbing the simple syrup with cinnamon syrup. I regretted it at first, but after the ice has dilluted slightly this is actually very very nice!

According to Instagram it's national navy grog weekend. Since I don't post personal pics to my Insta/biz page, I'll share with ya'll here....

Had a buddy over so I made a couple rounds of Ancient Mariners (the Bum's take on a Vic Navy Grog). Got the best results from:

1/4 oz homemade allspice dram
1/2 oz Texas grapefruit (ruby red?)
1/2 oz simple syrup
3/4 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz Coruba
3/4 oz LH 151

Shake with crushed ice, adding more crushed to fill glass.

Added homegrown mint and Luxardos.

This was seriously delicious.

Tomorrow night I'll have an ice cone ready and probably recreate this recipe exactly.

Aloha Mike and Chelsea: Good to see you got a running start on your Mai-Kai matrimony.

Stuck at home with a car in the shop, I started out with Trader Vic's Tutu Rum Punch, which will be this week's Cocktail of the Week on The Atomic Grog ...

Next, I finally cracked The Mai-Kai's K.O. Cooler recipe ...

Turns out that Mariano combined elements of Don the Beachcomber's 1937 Q.B. Cooler (Sippin' Safari, Remixed) and 1941 recipe (Grog Log). Tribute recipe will be posted soon.
