Jungle Bird

Made a pitcher of Sangria and added a couple of generous dash’s of Blood Orange Bitters. Delicious!
Cheers

Mike- now that's funny

Made a 3 rum scum
But instead of pineapple and OJ
I used a mango and coconut juice
Good

Making me thirty Jon. I'm just having a plain ol rye that's not worth a pic. Haha

Homebrew German-style apfelwein. Dry and a little sour, as is the style. Sorry no photos, but there's not much to show.

Not much time (and too many lemons and limes) left before Sober October, so just finished my bottle of Stiggin’s Fancy to make a Plantation Pineapple Daiquiri

"Sober October"? We don't mention that round these parts

More like October fest

Please excuse my language. Hopefully this picture of alcohol will make up for it.

I have gin I want to use up, too, so I settled on the Rickey-Tiki-Tavi.

Was out of maraschino liq and 151 Demerara, so I made my Hell in the Pacific with Plantation Overproof and Cherry Heering.

Looks good all
Below- nice pic little buddy:-)

A cheeky Navy Grog while I'm making dinner, to the SC recipe with Havana 3, Plantation 5yo and OFTD, plus a little float of Goslings for effect.

Let me know what you think. Pineapple is my favorite fruit, so I look for ways to build recipes around it. I was thinking about a classically-styled cocktail, and after playing with the falernum and maraschino amounts, settled on that version. Naming it was easy; I’d recently watched a Doris Day movie where she dances in a bamboo club and imagined my drink could have been the house cocktail, so I named it after the place.

Tonight, I’m having a Test Pilot.

1970s Singapore Sling

I visited a local farm today to pick up some apple cider. I watched fresh Michigan apples go from the crate to an over one hundred year old press to a jug and into my hands. Fresh apple cider, splash of bitters and a healthy dose of fine rum helps make a perfect fall day.

Enjoying a Peppermint Liqueur: E. Aldabo, Destileria Aldabo, Habana,Cuba Circa 1910.

Actually just sitting here enjoying looking at an unopened 1/2 bottle found today in an antique shop. According to the label it won Grand Prize at the Exposicion Universal De Saint Louis....presumably the Louisiana Purchase Exhibition, 1904.

They also made rum.

After a little more research I believe the exposition was the Saint Louis Exposition in Paris, 1900.

Merciless Virgin

Westbound Sloe Gin Fizz

Decided to crack the seal on another of my precious Jamaican bottles. This stuff is interesting. Hogo isn't as strong as it is on the Edwin Charley Black Label, but it's still very flavorful. Lots of dried fruit-type flavors, brings to mind the kind of date shakes you get from certain really old hamburger stands in certain parts of southern CA.

I’m observing Sober October, but I still had a hankering for something tropical, so I thought I’d see if I could come up with a good non-alcoholic “tiki” drink. I started with the Shirley Temple as inspiration.

1 oz lime juice
3/4 oz pineapple juice
3/4 oz passion fruit syrup
1/2 oz grenadine
3 oz ginger beer
2 oz club soda

Hatchet Hall Creole Negroni

Fog Cutter from Smuggler's Cove: Exotic Cocktails, Rum and the Cult of Tiki. A nice twist using pisco ...

First a Pegu Club Cockail-excellen,t imho.

Pegu Club Cocktail
2 oz gin
3/4 oz orange liqueur
1/2 oz lime juice
Shake and pour into chilled coupe.
Some recipes call for bitters. I used a dash of Orange Bitters. Nice sippin.

Round two was a Pyrat Cocktail. Okay, but will never be one of my favorites

2 oz Pyrat Rum
Juice of 1/2 lime
splash of Pineapple juice
Splash of grapefruit juice
Dash Bitters
2 oz club soda

Garnish-nutmeg and a cherry

Experimenting with drinks in pineapples: we tried the Mastadon, the Piñata and the Bumboat from the SC book, all at once. Think the Bumboat is still my favourite with the combination of rye, rum and almond.

Trader Vic’s Queen Charlotte Fruit Punch

A Mai Kai Demerara Dry Float. I used the non-rum ingredients from the Ancestor recipe, and the rum section from the Official recipe, then added more rum because it wasn't quite right.

This ended up being:

1/2 oz Havana 7 (the "gold Puerto Rican" rum)
1 oz EL 8
3/4 oz OFTD
1/4 oz Appleton Reserve
1/4 oz Velier unaged 151 (rum added before I added the Maraschino, so a ridiculous Zombie-level 3 and 3/4 oz in total - oops! Tasted great eventually though.)

2.5 oz lime and 1 squeeze lemon
1 oz peach syrup (subbed for passion fruit)
1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur
A generous 1/4 of date syrup

I also had a Black Magic (August 2017 version).

The Corner Door Bunch of Time

Got a pineapple with the intention of coring it and using the meat for tacos al pastor and the hull for a Boo Loo, but I got overly aggressive in my coring and ended up creating a leak, so I served the drink in a volcano bowl instead.
