Stone 18th at Fathom Bistro. Have I exclaimed that I love San Diego yet today?

Treg- u on fire

It's a classic daiquiri night with some nice new rums ...

I put the night’s special’s on the Sharkbite’s happy hour chalkboard; Mai Tai’s, Rum Babalu's, and Painkiller’s. We had a couple of P K’s and Rum Babalu’s-Neva got to the Mai Tai’s. Oh Well. No Pix, My camera has not recovered from Oasis.
Cheers

a Manhattan, baby.

Papa Doble, biznitches.

Tried my first “El Diablo” Not bad and it’s Tiki!

El Diablo

juice from 1/2 lime
1 1/2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce creme de cassis
4-6 ounces ginger beer

Squeeze lime into hiball glass-drop lime shell into glass. Add ice, tequila, and Cassis. Fill glass with Ginger beer and stir lightly. I used Barrett’s ginger beer and a top shelf tequila. Good ingredients= good drink.
Cheers

Oh holiday with the extended family, my night to cater, 1st up:

(You wouldn't believe the cheapness of the aged agricole, more about that later in another thread)

Then food:

Then a (very loosely) rum flavoured beer:

Cheers all!

Why settle for spirit flavored beer in a can when you can have spirit in a can?

Q. B. Cooler (Don Beach)
I was at Don the Beachcomber yesterday and tried this drink and liked it a lot. So I am trying it out at home, I have company coming over tomorrow for cocktails.
I also made the Aku-Kapo cooler, like this one also.
Like them both, not sure which one to make.

Back home
Grill time

breaking policy and having some pumpkin ales in summer; maybe it will trick my brain into thinking the heat is subsiding...

Last night the wife and I enjoyed a couple of Donn Beach Special Reserve Daiquiris (complete with frozen ice cove!) made with Appleton Extra. Always tasty!

Atomic Grog Jet Pilot tribute. Yumm!

a Green Isaac's Special.

An Aviation followed by a “Besame” cocktail. I luv “vintage “ bev’s as much as I do tiki drinks.
Cheers

Chief Lapu Lapu

I was really in the mood for a Donga Punch but I don't have any aged rhum agricole on hand so I punted and mixed up the cocktail subbing funky Batavia-Arrack for the funky Martinique rhum. It is actually quite a decent drink and the funk comes through loud and clear.

What is that? Is it from a recipe book?

Sorry I have been neglecting my posts on this thread. Super busy lately. Taking a week off, but I promise to have some good drinks for you guys soon.

I made my first ever batch of grenadine and made a Zombie using a recipe i found on the net. This is it in one of my Staff Sergeant Nuoai mugs.

Nice mug!!

My diet is over, I've lost 20 pounds in a month, and celebrated with a Kona Big Wave. :)

151 Swizzle and some tunes to relax my mind.

First attempt, a Manhattan, using my Luxardo maraschino cherries, OMG.

Yup! they can do that to you, but what whiskey did you use?
and do use a good quality sweet Vermouth, makes a huge difference.

And, ideally, that whiskey was a rye. That's the ticket for a killer Manhattan.

And I totally agree about quality. Vermouth. No easier way to ruin this wonderful cocktail than with an inferior vermouth.

I am going no-frills tonight, drinking and thoroughly enjoying Appleton V/X and coconut water in a hottub while enjoying a holiday weekend getaway.

daiquiri, using Plantation 3 Stars. out-freaking-standing!

Mai Tai.

Having the exact same Mai Tai right now, with Appleton Extra and ED12. Taking a page from Porpoise's "dry Mai Tai" and going with just .5 oz of lime and orgeat, scant teaspoons of curacao and simple, and a dash of Ango just to be non-traditional. This is fast becoming the house top shelf Mai Tai.

nice rum combo, Mike and Sunny! i like the jamaican dark/demerara combo the best.

enjoying a mai-tai right now myself! visited the Italian market yesterday and got a bottle of Toschi orgeat. it's quite concentrated, so for the first time i've followed the TV formula and used 1/4 orgeat with 1/4 rock candy syrup, instead of my usual method of using 1/2 oz orgeat while omitting the rock candy syrup. a necessary adjustment with the pungent Toschi!

dont have any 12 year old rums on hand, but i combined 1 oz RL Seale's Finest 10 y.o., 1 oz Plantation 3 Star, and 1/2 oz Barbancourt white. rums from 4 islands-- but very balanced and tasty!

Couple of Rum Babalu’s, couple of painkiller’s in my SharkBite Bar. Time to hit it.
Cheers

1 Shipwreck on the Rocks
1 Navy Grog
1 mystery drink (was good but way too strong at the end of my stay)
3 or 4 Murky Mojitos...probably my new favorite drink at Sam's - definitely not a mojito, fantastically in between a 151 Swizzle and a Queen's Park Swizzle. Drinking up Sam's supply of LH151 so I don't have to use my own :D :D

I made the Manhattan with Dickel Rye and Caprano Antica formula. It was pretty tasty.

Tried out some rums neat that I’ve previously tried in cocktails that did not impress. Plantation and 10 Cane. Just okay.
Cheers

A Mai Tai and a Mule at Billy’s at the Beach (Newport Beach,Ca.) Mule is made with rum, lime juice, topped with ginger beer ( Cock and Bull ). Very similar to the Rum Babalu served at Tommy Bahamas just down PCH.

Tonight I had too much, I can already tell.

Daiquiri: Cruzan gold, 1:1 Demerara syrup, and lime

Then another,

Mai Tai with Creole Shrub, V/X, and Clement,

Sip of Plantation XO

Another Mai Tai with Denizen 8

Sip of Plantation Guatemala XO reserve.

And now, off to bed!

Couple of of Aviation’s and Longboard’s.
Sleep tight!

Cell phone died last night so I have to post a "what were you drinking last night?"

Trip back north to visit the family and . . . Three Dots and a Dash!

Had the Three Dots and a Dash and it was very good. Also had a Martin Cate Dead Reckoning which was also very good. Ended with. Pula Puka Punch that was excellent!

Cuba Libre
Mex Coke and Havana Club 7 year.
