Drink of the day will be Key Lime Aid...2 parts Parrot Bay Key Lime Rum..1 part Vanilla Liquor...1 part sweet and sour mix..It's lite , refreshing and doesn't make you feel bloated. The best part is you can relax have several and still not have slurred speech...till you run out of Rum. |

Just mixed me a little something that I haven't named, kinda been tryin to get the blend right for a while now... 3oz ginger beer (this one has Stewarts brand) Very tasty... The Stewart's ginger beer gives it a nice "bite". Next up will be a double Mai Tai (don't have to work tomarrow) 2oz Flor de Cana 7 year So far this is my favorite flavor of Mai Tai mixture... I have been leaving out the simple syrup after reading here that the premade Orgeat is really just flavored syrup and I am bummed I forgetted to grab some mint when I stopped for limes. If you're going for the flavor of key lime in a drink the best route is to use fresh juice from actual key limes. The second best way (which pales in comparison) is to use Nellie & Joe's bottled key lime juice. |

Beach Bum Scott-that sounds similar to what I've been mixing lately...But I've used cheaper rum-Cruzan Estate Dark and TV's dark rum. Also I used coconut milk. And a squeeze of Meyer/lime (my lime is next to a Meyer lemon so I get a really tasty cross!) I've been kicking around the idea of adding ginger liquour, but haven't made it back to the store to get some. Right now I'm drinking the Mystery Gardenia from the Donn the Beachcomber book. Love that honey cream! :drink: The Lava Lounge...deep in the heart of the Enchanted Canna Forest! [ Edited by: Tacky Tiki 2009-03-01 17:45 ] |

Ah... I slopped together a Mai Tai and it's not as good as it should be... still damn good, but you know what I mean. I squeezed a fresh lime... \I never scrimp there, and I used Sailor Jerry and Appleton's Estate V/X, that should be OK... I didn't measure very well and maybe should have used the Black Strap or maybe the Myer's... |

Mai tai. Second of the evening. Started out with a Mai Tai, then went with a double Donga Punch. Now back to Mai Tai. The first was made with 2 oz. Appleton's Extra. Out of necessity, this one is 1 oz. Extra, 1 oz. St. James Extra Old. I prefer mai tais made from purely Jamaican rum. The Martinique adds a grassy, harsh flavor. It works well in spicy drinks (Donga Punch, 3 Dots), but I don't think it complements the flavors in a Mai Tai. |

Made my first home-made syrups today (cinnamon, honey mix) and celebrated by making a more "technical" drink than I usually do. And... my God... just... friggin'... amazing. Obviously, I didn't have the exact ingredients, and screwed with it a little... but it still came out being a thing of beauty. THE WISDOM OF PELE Damnnnn... I wish I had made a bucket of these. Goin' low key tonight. I'll have to try that Girl in Every Port. I've got a half a bottle of Sailor Jerry's and not really any recipes for it to go into. Used to drink the hell out of it, but once I started really getting into the cocktails, it's kinda just lingering back there behind the other bottles. |

Started a few hours ago: Two "Hundred Dollar Mai Tais" and then some Ron Diplomatico Exclusive Reserve straight up followed with an Ambien night cap. I'm fallling asleep as I key this in, It's a bit weird cause things start to get a bit jittery and two dimensional images start to show three. They may look sort of like they're pulsating or breathing or even sticking out of the page. The whole Ambien thing is strange, if you don't go lay down to sleep you start to go into a dream state while you are still awake. Sort of like turning into a sleep walking lucid dreaming kook looking for food or booze or sex or maybe a joyride in the car. No need to worry about me though, My wife strapped me to the bed, she got tired of all the shenanigans. Well at least I'll still get the sex part. Now I just have to get her over here. Oh great... she's asleep now, totally out... And now that I'm strapped down, I can't even reach her or anything other than this notebook computer. SHIT this sucks, shoutings no good, she is out stonecold. Oh well, another night wasted. Hey!Let me try to toss the notebook computer at her, maybe that will wake her. Here we go, one... two.... threee |

Uhhm, excuse me, but this is Mrs. Hakalugi. I just got beaned with a computer (I'll be okay, just a bruise) I then read Mr. Hakalugi's post leading up to it, I submitted his post as I don't think he had the foresight to realize what exactly he was doing AND so you could see what I've been having to deal with. Nevertheless, If any of you Tiki people ever see my husband acting this way, please tell him to stop and to go home where he can lay down in a bed and hopefully fall asleep properly! Lord knows he won't listen to me. I'm at my wits end. This sleep/awake shit is driving me nuts. Sorry for my rant but any help would be appreciated. Now please excuse me and go back to your tiki talk and photo association whatever. Thanks. -Mrs. H |

Damn... that sounds good! Right this sec I'm drinking some effed up abomination that was the remains of the Tiki orgy that's been occurring in the kitchen for the last few hours. I dunno what it is, but it's: Maybe I'll just call it a "Friggin' Mess". Earlier, the wife and I had a coupla Wisdoms of Pele, and some Rum Swizzles with blood orange instead of lime. Really pretty good. But right now... it's a "Friggin' Mess". |
