Trying out the Tanduay White in a daiquiri. Really good, tastes like a combination of Bacardi 1909 and Diplomatico Anejo. |

we have a different label for the Tanduay silver here. is your bottle straight from the RP? |

That's my understanding. Up close the label reads "Export Quality" above the logo, and in the blurb underneath the medals reads "Produced for export by Tanduay Distillers, Inc. 348 J. Nepomuceno St., Manila, Philippines". The back of the bottle states that it was imported by "GGT Global Imports, Colton California". |

From what I get on the company website, yours is a special product for the US only, and it might be older than mine, which carries no age statement. The only place I could find anything about the bottle I have is this page |

Sipping R.L. Seales rum, neat, from a small beer glass so I get a nice concentrated aroma as I sip. Mike -- congrats on the nice mint. Truly a worthy endeavor, sir! |

I got the idea from this thread http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=51254&forum=10&19 To make the ice mold I put a metal shot glass at the bottom of a pint glass (any glass with a flat bottom that's wider at the top than the bottom will do) and put shaved ice in one scoop at a time, packing it down as hard as I could in between scoops and making sure the top (what would be the bottom when freed from the mold) was as flat as possible. After an overnight stint in the freezer I took the glass out and let it sit and warm slightly while I made up the scorpion. When the drink was ready I popped the mold out, put it in the bowl, filled the shotglass with lemon extract and set it on fire, and served it up. |

It's the first Scorpion I've ever really, really liked. Before now it had always been one of those drinks with a name that was better than the actual product. The use of aromatized wine really elevated the whole thing, and everyone at the table remarked on how much they liked it. When I jotted down the recipe I just wrote "blanc vermouth" instead of "white wine or lillet blanc", so I ended up using the Dolin Blanc I'd been using to make the Mojito Caballitos from POTC. It was more than equal to the task, but I'd really love to try it with some Cocchi Americano. I think the slight bitterness it has would give the drink greater tolerance for sweetness and let me give it extra heft by using a richer orgeat. [ Edited by: PalmtreePat 2016-04-12 01:14 ] |

For the Shark's Tooth I used Zaya dark rum, fresh lime and lemon juice, grenadine, and allspice dram, topped off with a splash of club soda. The club soda really seems to bring the flavors to life. |
