Mike you outta start a thread a thread wid your glassware .

Tried my hand at a couple of Saturns this evening. first round I used Tanqueray, round two -St George Botanivore. Both were excellent. Btw, the St. George empty bottles are great for bottling your homemade syrups and mixers. The stubby bottles look good and easily fit in my mini-fridge out by the SharkBite Bar.

Recently I had a battle opening some of my less-frequently-used syrup bottles. I've decided to switch over to using only olive oil bottles and such which have the built-in plastic pour spouts. This tends to prevent the cap and bottle threads clean, so few if any problems are possible.

The WORST pouring bottles ever, in my experience, is Oronoco Rum. Very cool bottles, but not very pour-friendly. Sure is some good tasting rum though!

The Botanivore is the only St. George Gin I would use in a Saturn. The other two would overpower the passion fruit and falernum and upset the delicate balance.

Malahat spiced.

We did the tasting again last Weekend and noticed (and they agreed) that their regular white rum has taken on a butterscotch flavor with age. Apparently that happened before they bottled this batch of spiced that we picked up, because that's what I taste now (their flavored varieties start from the standard white rum base.)

Still decent, but I preferred it when it tasted like what I called lazy man's hot buttered rum. I used to taste all the different spices. Now I really taste butterscotch.

Mike, you da guy responsible for me drinking Saturns two days in a row.
My wife and I really like this drink. I cannot tell if your drink is packed with ice. I served mine in a tall glass packed in crushed ice. I also quadrupled the recipe cuz the recipe I use only makes a small kine drink.
Any tips making this tasty drink will be much appreciated.
Cheers
Edited to add;
Mike, just saw you new thread on Saturns. Mahalo

This was shaken and strained. I believe it was 2 times the recipe. Chime in on the new Saturn thread with your thoughts on how you're making yours.

I unfortunately will be out of town the next several days so won't be making any but will be checking out the Saturn Room in Tulsa on Sunday so hoping they have a delicious Saturn there.

Enjoying a new arrival on my doorstep today ...

Tanks for the tip Treg, I’ll drop you a line next time we’re down, maybe we can hook up at P:66.

I'm 'friends' with several drinks related pages on Facebook (Liquor.com, Punch, etc etc) & they post some interesting articles.

One article I read recently was about the 'shot & a beer' craze - a good beer & a good shot just because. Here's our non tiki two tonight:

His: dark cherry beer & rye whiskey

Hers: fruity cider & tequila

More like two drinks in one round (with no link between them) & sipping one then the other is a bit weird but hey ho :)

Atlas cocktail at Church and State downtown. THESE GUYS HAVE LEMON HART BEHIND THE BAR!

It's only the red label, but still.

Red label
I'll take it :)

Jon, Have you checked out the Ballast Point restaurant in San Diego yet? It’s on India Street at the north end of Little Italy.
Here’s what we’re having at the SharkBite Bar tonight.
Big Bamboo’s

Yep! It's pretty light and definitely has a subtle yet noticeable ginger after taste. I think I've only had one bottle so far but if I recall, were there any stronger ginger to it I'd be turned off.

From lunch today at Hatch in Tustin, CA. The "Walker" (zombie) and the Donn's Dream" (mai tai).
