Here is a sample of some of the Mugs that GECKO sent me from Hawaii for The International Tiki Market place at DTB sun March 4. More picture to follow.

The Ding Dong Devils will be bringing serigraphs of Derek Yaniger's art for our debut debut CD "Tassels, Mai Tais & Mischief" (as well as T-shirts, and the CD itself).

We recently found our that Derek himself has sold out of the Ding Dong Devils serigraphs, so thanks to our methods of "passive merchandising" (i.e. forgetting to bring them to gigs, or forgetting to mention that we have them for sale when we do remember to bring them) we're now the only source for these now rare serigraphs:

We're also going to have copies of the two Deke Dickerson-produced CDs from our pre-Ding Dong Devils band The Fleagles.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Caltiki

Lot's of wrapping and packing to do this week before I start my journey West on Friday!

I'll be debuting my new 2012 collection of hand carved tiki decor this Sunday at Don's, as well as some new carvings of my most popular pieces from the last 10 years.

Oceanic Art inspired by the Cook Islands, Marquesan Islands, Hawaiian Islands, Papua New Guinea, Rapa Nui, and some Polynesian Pop inspired pieces.

I'll also have a brand new collection of hand carved tiki idols with me.

MAHALO! MAHALO! MAHALO!!! To ALL the vendors and attendees at today's event!!! I was told so many times that this was so much like the International Market Place and that everyone was so nice! There was a true feeling and spirit of OHANA and friendship that it was almost overwhelming!

Thank you to those that came from far-off places (Lake Tiki) and those that ventured from nearby islands (jungle Trader, Unga Bunga, Kathy, Eric Link, HipHipaHula, Cousin Dave, Ali-i, Poly Pop, John Coil, Joe Banks, and all the rest.)

Pictures will follow soon.....and so will the tales of a gathering of very tiki people!

Mark you calendar now for Sunday April 1st and be part of the new wave.

Great time with the Ohana, I am completely Exhausted, Thanks to all the people
who came out and a great bunch of Venders & to Don's!!!

Thanks Chris & Art.

I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!

Whew was that fun! Don's felt packed (in a good way!) with tons of people, art, and fun. A great way to welcome in March, particularly because it doesn't feel like March at all. We went away with some new treasures, as expected, and saw a lot of friends. Mahalo to the artists, the vendors, the staff at Don's, and to everyone that put the event together. Also thanks to The Smokin' Menehunes for providing an outstanding soundtrack to the day...it felt like if we walked outside the door, a Hawaiian beach would be waiting for us.

On to the photos...

kevin

Thanks for the fine pictures heylownine, I don't think I have seen Lucas this happy in a while
he was playing the music he loves.

Great to see Ben, Doug, Kinny, BigToe,Tiki Al, Sven, Tony, All of the Ding Dong Devils
Go Tiki, HappyChi, Roger, Hotiki, Matt, Jason and everybody else in the same room, doing what they do.

Hope Maui Rose is enjoying her new Mug Shelves, Too.

Hope you all got some good deals
Keep it Tiki, ya all!

true enough! I have loved hawaiian music since the early 80's, when I lived there. That love has never gone away! I just consider myself lucky to play it, and to play it at DONs! (which like the other poster said, makes me feel like there is a hawaiian beach right across the street!)

Fun day for sure! I had numerous Gin and Tonics (I Know, a tiki speciality!) and the food was great as usual!

Thank you Dons, thank you Art Syder, Thank you Soccer, thank you vendors, and thank you friends!

And THANK YOU to The Smokin' Menehunes!!!! Bong, Mick and Pat, you guys are great!!! You really set the mood and tone for our event! I can't tell you how many people came up to me and said the music was perfect!!! And putting you guys in front of the waterfall in the Hidden Village was like putting icing on the cake! (A perfect match!)

What a great event: To see the two back rooms used and filled to capacity was wonderful! Great authentic Tiki environs, amazing Tiki art and wares, good friends, yummy food and drinks, wonderful music...what more can one ask for!

I was thrilled to sell my ole 60s Tiki longboard to Art for decorating Don's:

(My Rav pretending to be a "Woody" in front of Don's)

But even as a vendor, one has to watch out to not leave the money one made at the other tables! :)
I can never resist the vintage look of Lake Surfer's carvings:

...and so I walked away with this cool rope-framed Kon-Tiki mask:

..and also inexplicably fell in love with Tiki Al's resin cast of this Coco Joe's classic :D :

Thank You SoccerTiki and Art for putting on another great Tiki Marketplace!

P.S.: Please do yourself a favor and go back to the previous page to view heylownine's most EXCELLENT eye candy images of all the folks and fun at this event!

My bf Donny and I had a great time while we could... as some of you know, he had an allergic reaction and we had to leave for about an hour.... but we managed to return and snag a few great items before the event was over. Cant wait to see and buy more at the upcoming tiki events! Great job to all that were involved.
