(Trader Vic's) Rum & Coke.

My ongoing experiment to make a tasty cocktail, phase 5 or something:

1 oz grapefruit juice
3/4 oz lime juice
2 oz El Dorado 12 yo
1/2 oz El Dorado overproof
1/4 oz vanilla syrup
1/4 oz cinnamon syrup
1/4 oz Falernum

Tasting quite good, not outstanding though.

Just saw this post....

What am i drinking now?

KWAWFEE!
:)

I'm drinking a Juan Ho (my own creation) and playing pinball.

3/4 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
1 oz. Mango Nectar
1 oz. Capel Pisco Brandy
1 oz. Rhum Agricole Blanc
3/4 oz. AGWA Coca Liqueur
1/4 oz. Licor 43
1/4 oz. Fee Bros. Falernum
3/4 oz. Passionfruit Syrup (Finest Call)
Dash of Angostura Bitters

Shake with ice cubes and pour into a double Old-Fashioned glass.

Since it's Easter I went the candy route with some left over stuff other people brought over. Mixed juice from a carton and whipped cream. (I thought the whipped cream might make some of the purists spit take their estate rum. Yes, I'm evil.)

Last night . . . the "Tropical Itch" and, as I have no Bacardi 151, I used Wray & Nephew Overproof (only one oz. though), Caruba for the dark Jamacian, and Wild Turkey bourbon, and Ceres passion fruit nectar. I made them in quantity and they were enjoyed by all - I now have three cars in my driveway . . . they all took cabs home!

started out with the Sippin Safari's "Dukes Pearl" using
Coruba for the dark
Old Mill for the light (lightest rum allowed in the house)
Looza Passion fruit nectar for the juice

First time making this pretty tasty!!!!

Then mixed it up a little and added 1/2 oz Monin Coconut syurp (to sweet/syurpy) so... the one in my hand now, I left out the Honey and put in 1oz coconut syurp....

I like alot...

After the Storm.....

Lime, Gosling's Black Seal, Fresca, Straw.

Simple. Tasty. I drink this one a lot.

"Blue Reef" . . . as written. Grog Log, Pg. 22

Johnny Walker Green Label.

Hey, I can't drink rum all the time.

Jet Pilot
Sippin' Safari recipe.
mmm mmm good!!

Beer. 'Smoke Jumper' Smoked Imperial Porter from the Left Hand Brewing Company.

belch!

THREE DOTS AN A DASH (...-V)
Using blood orange juice, Saint James Hors D'Age (only Martinique rum I have), El Dorado 5YO, John D. Taylor's Falernum, and St. Elizabeth pimento dram. Nice drink, but I fear the Saint James is too dominant a "wood" flavor.
I think on my next batch I'll cut down the Saint James by .5 oz and increase the El Dorado by .5 oz. I think that will produce a balance I'd enjoy more.

S

Tiger Shark (Sippin' Safari)
Not really diggin' it too much

Lani Honi from the grog log..... very yummy!

Bell's Amber Ale. Frosty cold and good.

Bacardi Ron Solera
Straight up no ice
no nada

Just fucking rum

Caucasions.

Well, I try not to drink during the week, but I just received a new Tangata tiki mug from Tiki Farm as a birthday present from my brother, so of course I had to christen it with a Fogcutter. And I can feel it working its magic already ...

Camelot Mead from the Oliver Winery (Bloomington, IN). We're celebrating daughter Katie who just accepted the offer of a full scholarship to Indiana University Chemistry grad school doctorate program with generous stipend to cover living expenses! Yahoo! She made it, we're so proud!

More drinks to follow!

Just made this up off the top of my bouffant...Soho lychee ( Go easy on the stuff, for Jebus' sake!)& smyrnoff citrus vodka martini, with just a touch of fresh lilicoi.ready to die happy now!
BTW, have any of you tried the trader Joe's thomyam rice snacks?
really yummy!!

Last night . . .
TVs Scorpion with fresh orange juice, lemon juice and pineapple juice and using a Virgin Island light rum and E&J VSOP brandy. Very tasty!

Always good to be among the drinking crowd! Right now: (And I'm gonna have more)

3 oz. Cruzan Single Barrel Rum
1/2 oz. App'eton Estates V/X Rum
1/2 oz. El Dorado Demerara Rum
1/2 oz. HW Orange Curacao
1 oz. Orgeat
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
Juice from 1/2 lime

Absinthe Drip made with Lucid.

Falernum Mai Tai with vintage Lemon Hart and Rhum JM.

Slop... I'm drinking slop because my little experiment of ingredients didn't work out and I'm not wasting this fine rum and so I'm adding more Coco Lopez and I'm drinking slop.

Last night: Astro Aku Aku modified as follows:
1.5 oz fresh lime juice
.75 oz papaya nectar
.25 oz of apricot nectar
.5 oz of sugar syrup
.5 oz Velvet Falernum
Dash Angostura bitters
1 oz El Dorado 151
1.5 oz Appleton Special

For my taste, it was a little too sweet and "fruity" and I didn't have any gold Puerto Rican rum so I used the Appleton Special.
The modified recipe's results were more to my liking.

I bet you feel more like you do now now than you did when you came in.

CARIBBEAN PUNCH
Used Sioux City Sarsaparilla, a silver Puerto Rican rum and Appleton Extra and all the other ingredients listed on page 36 of Sippin' Safari.
Interesting drink, a bit on the sweet side . . . but interesting nonetheless.

I made cocktails for the music faculty where I teach. On the menu was the Afterton, a simple creation of mine that uses white rum, pineapple juice, honey mix, and lime; next was a round of Navy Grogs and Ancient Mariners, and to end things for those who made it to the end, the 151 Swizzle, Mai Kai style.

A Double Rain Killer from the Sippin Safari before this it was the Tiger Shark...

T

Right now I'm bein' lazy with a

lager.

But last night (& later on) I'll be having something I threw together out of
1 1/2 oz Gosling's
1 1/2 oz Absolut (plain, no flavours)
3/4 oz Rose's lime
4 oz calamansi lime juice
fill with ice cubes & seltzer

Not that original (if it don't have a name already), but it's refreshing and doesn't make me throw up like some of my other alcohol-slams...

A rusty nail.

Last night . . .
Cobra's Fang from "Hawai'i Tropical Rum Drinks & Cuisine (Arnold Bitner & Phoebe Beach)

Used Appleton Estates Extra & El Dorado 151.

Right now . . . "Lovely Lovely" from Sippin' Safari, page 85.

No substitutions except for cutting back on the brown sugar by .5 TBS.

Only two to a customer!

...just a terrific Cuba Libre.

  • Mt. Gay Eclipse Silver
  • Mexican Coca-Cola
  • Nellie & Joe's Famous Key West Lime Juice

Say, I think I'll have another one?!

A Caesars rum punch.

Scorpion on page 60 of the Sippin Safari but subin'it all Rum don't like Gin at all.

Last night in the Tiki Room - a beer, two Mai Tais, a Test Pilot, a Tiki Room and a Waikiki Wipeout.

Today - nothing stronger than coffee (oh my head!).

Made a couple of Blue Hawaiis last night because I wanted to get rid of some sweet and sour mix that was about to go bad and finish off a nearly empty bottle of vodka.
