Mixologist by trade, Bartender by wonderful necessity, and life long Tiki enthusiast by DNA coding. Been a prohibition mixologist for the past ten years and a lover of Tiki drinks since....forever. So, I got a job as a bartender at the infamous Don, The Beachcomber!!!! And want to become a Tiki devotee. Would love to hear from you guys!!!! |

Aloha from sunny Alicante, Spain. My name is Guillermo and I've just gotten started on bone carving of all sorts. Found your forum through Google. I have no previous carving experience and started as part of therapy after watching a couple of videos on youtube (Louie The Fish, Rick Gunter and Santi aka Antipodart) and was immediately hooked -never better said! I decided that my first project should be a sea turtle following Rick Gunter's tutorial and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! Second has been a tiger claw and will continue practicing. Here's a small (and terrible) clip of the turtle just prior to finishing: http://youtu.be/P1apN58NRPU?list=UUE7Z3_YKW9ApH9qVLASpdsQ And hope you can see these photos: I have several tools that I use for other interests that will be useful: typical Dremel and flex shaft, another "generic" no brand Dremel look-a-like (but much more powerful!), a micro motor set, and lots and lots of burs (diamond and TC). Hope to make new friends and learn more things here with you guys and share my experience with you. Thanks. Oh... Where was my mind?! Hooker??? Hooked it should have been ! hahahaha Mind wondering corrected! Well the fact that I live in Spain don't mean that I'm Spanish, now does it? hahahaha Though I am 50% I'm half breed 50% American/Spanish. Lived half my life abroad, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Spain, France, Germany, UK... so many countries but then again who's counting! Proud of my heritage, and will not deny my half breed... then again, aren't we all half breed one way or another? Proud of my spelling/grammar too and in 3 different languages: French, Spanish, English. Enough politics... Many thanks for your comments. It encourages me to continue. I feel that every piece that I carve has a bit of me in it; I have considered selling them and my entourage also encourages me to do so but I don't know... I'm now working on two new sea turtles I guess just to prove to myself that this was not a first timer luck thing. Will see! More to continue... [ Edited by: OSSEUS NATURA 2014-11-18 14:10 ] |

Hey TC'ers! Jay Brooks here, returning to TC after a long hiatus (originally joined in 2004 - hypnotiki). I quit my day gig to stay at home with my new boys and that has allowed me to kick my carving addictions into high gear. I've been carving like mad and have been hitting local art shows and fairs under the Aloha Texas Tiki Co. name trying to spread tiki far and wide here. I hope to meet you all and share new carvings as they take life. Can't wait to get inspired by all you have to offer... I also may post some Clouseaux stuff as we come out with new releases and such. Many Mahalos y'all! |

Aloha e from the Big Island Tiki Centralites! I wanted to introduce myself and invite you to listen to a holiday Christmas tune created by your truly. I'm a steel guitarist who has lived in Hawaii for almost three years now. I live in a tiny town called Honomu, it's about 15 miles north of Hilo on the east side of the Big Island. Population 500! Many people have visited my town on the way to the famed Akaka Falls. It's a land of steep cliffs, pounding waves, winding roads, forgotten sugar mill ruins covered in vines, and rural tropical splendor. Picture yourself in the evening on the lanai in a quiet village on the Hamakua Coast, the east side of the Big Island. With a lilikoi margarita in hand, you hear the sounds of distant ocean surf and the mesmerizing conversation of coqui frogs. Warm breezes blow by scented with cloves, night jasmine, ocean, and sugar cane mixed with wild kalhili ginger from upcountry meadows. It's the holidays on the Big Island! Mele Kalikimaka to all!! |

Greetings to all at TC, as with others I have been a lurker here for some years now and decided that I needed to become an true TC member and contribute. My interests are in all things Polynesian, with a love for Maori Art and of course Tiki. I've had a blast following Wendy Cevola's thread in the Creating Tiki sub forum and am exited to be part of her wish list #5. Thanks to all here and I look forward to getting to know the TC community. Tyber Tiki |

Hi, I'm Rob, I've been making tiki drinks since 2000ish in college when my girlfriend bought me the first two Beachbum Berry books. Now that I'm a grown up I love having a fancy blender, filtered fridge ice-maker that crushes ice and all the ingredients required... things I only dreamed of in college. I joined cuz I have a few questions, enjoy the drinking! |

Hello, I'm Juan Cena. I'm probably best known as a commenter on Deadspin. I also post at The Outhouse and BellGab. I have a Pinterest page called Luau Cindor. It's about my dream tiki-themed sports bar with a focus on NBA and College basketball. It has a lot of great Tiki and b-ball related pins, along with music, and photos from Asia, Oceania, Africa, and other exotic places. |

"It's about my dream tiki-themed sports bar with a focus on NBA and College basketball" Oh my you are new. Sports bar and tiki, It does not, I mean you can't, it won't? If video killed the radio star, then Sports bar killed the tiki bar star. What the hell, good luck, welcome. |

Here's one way to look at it. Adding sports to a Tiki bar is bad. Adding Tiki to a sports bar is good. |

I think the killer is that sports is a loud cheering environment, while Tiki bar = mixed drinks / Sports Bar = Beer and a shot. Tiki bar food = exotic dishes from the far east / Sports bar food = Wings from Buffalo. Sports types are more likely to associate Party City with tiki than say Witco, Not you, just sayin. But hey if you can put the two together and love it go for it. Good luck. |

I think tiki and sports can mix... As long as the sports are surfing, fire-eating, and semi-competitive zombie-imbibing. Also - new here, too. But not new to tiki. AK |
