The last of the Santa Tiki Bob's is a doozy. He comes from the largest of all the Tiki Bob molds we have made. hang10tiki Christmas won't return until these are dried. He is so tall I decided to cut off his head so that with his santa hat he wouldn't reach the ceiling. Then it was time to add the beard and to start his hollow hat. Hey he looks like a cone head from Saturday Night Live! Then came the hat detail. I did the Curve and the ball and then made the white area of his shirt with buttons and carved his beard. I added arms down his sides. To keep his hat from bending back I stuffed the hole with paper towels. I learned my lesson, wait a day or two for the hole to be cut. Next up doing some carving on his jacket. More tomorrow, Merry Christmas, Wendy |

Hamo in old age with white hair you can be a really cute Santa! ================================ Here he is the super tall Santa Tiki Bob. Maybe he's in his favorite Mr. Rogers sweater today. Close up. Here they are all together for a convention. I had a request for heights so here are photos with a ruler. I do so love playing with Tiki Bob. Wendy |

Catch up photos of the rest of my activities. In 1994 on a drive in Sacramento, CA Dan and I came upon a wonderful house. We stopped to take photos and we met the owner. The house had been in their family since 1930. I did a small practice painting and then a large painting. I tried to paint each individual rock. I allowed the family to have professional copies made on canvas. But as we downsize the tiki collection I am also downsizing everything in the house. So now this painting hangs in the home I have admired for decades. I just noticed that the huge tree I had painted is no longer there! ======================================= I love numbers. So we had to take a day trip with 02/20/2020 came up. We love good quality casino buffets. I heard that the Hard Rock Casino had open in Wheatland, CA around 50 miles from us. So we picked up Dan's sister Kathi and off we went to the middle of nowhere. The blue behind the guitar is animated and flaming. Really cool. The buffet was small but good quality. Example, steamed cauliflower with sundried tomatoes. We didn't put a penny in a machine. After the good meal we just headed home. A fun outing for sure. Wendy |

Wish List #8 (2018) Phase Five has a very long list of people wanting super carved Tiki Bob's. So I made a whole lot of them and I will glaze them as I want and then when they are all done I will start with the first request and let that person choose until they each have one. Then there should be a few extras to offer up. This one however has been made for Robyn Yednock-Haas. A Tiki Tapa Bob. To be glazed in blues and greens. None of my Tiki Bob that I sculpted and made molds of have eyes. I add them at the time I carve the Bob. All done and drying slowly. Tiki Bob is one of my best friends and I play with him often. The parade of Tiki Bob's begin. Once in awhile the slip doesn't come out of the cast and I get a mug full of sticky clay. When that happens I cut out the bottom and empty out the sticky clay. Then I get to work to turn the mug into a lamp base. I make a top with a hole and press it into place. I smooth it down the sides to make a firm attachment. Then I cut a hole at the back bottom for the cord. For this Tiki Bob I did the rings and then the texture. All done and ready to dry. Sometimes I wire them and sometimes I sell them and let the next person do the work. Fun times with Tiki Bob make my day, Wendy |

Just a reminder that the reason I have so many Tiki Bob's is that the casts were drying out. So I just did them my way. For those on the Wish List that wanted a customized Tiki Bob I can still do that. Here is one Wish that was easy to accomplish. Josh Badham asked for a regular Tiki Bob nothing fancy. So I did the two versions. Style one has lots of lines. The second one is with texture. I will see if either is what he had in mind. Cheers, Wendy |

On the Wish List I have a number of people waiting for a supercarved Tiki Bob. I'm hopeful they will find one they like in the batch that I have carved. If not a time will come when I offer them up. Here are a couple more. Tiki Bob's face shape dictates what I can carve. I love to do one while watching my best friend the TV. Opal Hunters, Gold Rush and Oak Island (my very favorite) . I love to watch men digging holes in the ground. Cleaned up and the eyes added it was time to carve. One more ready to dry. A fun day in the neighborhood, Wendy |

Progress Report on the parade of Tiki Bobs. I decided that I would just carve them all and if people on the Wish List do not find one they like I will cast one for them and continue in the future. Years ago I found a plastic flower on a sidewalk. It reminded me of Flower Power in the 60's. Since it is stiff I make a paper version and wet it and stick it where I want a flower placed on Tiki Bob and then I carve around it. Once I have all the flowers done I did the peanut texture for the background. Here's a tapa supercarved Tiki Bob. The parade continues on day by day. Thank you for watching it go by, Wendy |

The fun continues with three more Tiki Bob's. These were all very dry but it doesn't effect supercarving. It does effect the cleaning up of the mug in preparation for this work. Supercarved Tiki Tapa lines Bob. Tiki Bob the Whistler. This one was taken without a flash and this one with a flash. What a difference in color of the background. Supercarved Tiki Bob. |

Hamo thank you. I'm always happy when no one says Stop!! Enough with the Bob's. Soon I will but there are still some more. I am no longer pouring items ahead. However I could it's just these were poured a year ahead and that was too much too expect. Clay is designed to dry. ================================= The Tiki Bob supercarved parade continues. I started with building blocks and then I decorated them. This Bob was really dry. Wood Grain Tiki Bob. I do one Tiki Bob a day. I'm far behind in posting but I will catch up. Cheers, Wendy |

This is one long parade of Tiki Bob's Here are two more. This one was not so dry and easier to carve. I cleaned it up and added the eyes. Hmmm so what should I do? Got it swirls. I cut the shape with one tool and then I widened it with this wooden tool. All done and posing. ======================== The clay is very dry. I just use tools to smooth it. Then it's time to carve. All done and posing. Tiki Bob is such a model! Happy Hump Day. Hey there should be a mug for this occasion. Wendy |

It was so much fun to open a bag and find a Tiki Bob that hadn't dried out at all. So what should I do? Here are the steps. Anything can be used as a tool with clay. The sculpting is finished. It's not just that process that uses time it's the glazing. This one will take days to get it right. Playing with Tiki Bob is triple the fun. Wendy |

I call this one Tiny Squares Tiki Bob. Being hand carved also means it's not perfect. I just do my best. Am I done with the parade? Nope! Cheers, Wendy |

Thank you hang10tiki, you reminded me to post these photos. 14 years of owning a digital camera and saving photos in my computer allows me to show Dan's many birthdays. I took him to Black Angus for a free meal and desert. Then we went with friends to the Olive Garden. His present was his dream ladder. I made his request for crunchy brownies with walnuts. He's my sweetheart and why I'm able to make tiki art. I love him. Wendy PS it was fun to see which Hawaiian shirts we were wearing each year |

Hamo, Dan says thank you for the HB and for thinking he ages well. ================================= Here is a Wish for Greg Liebig. A Tiki Bob lamp. I think it's the first time I've supercarved a lamp. To make a lamp I cut out the bottom and then I make a top. Looks a bit warped but this has been cast so that it is thick and heavy. So then I begin to make it right. I level the top and trim all the sides. The I cut a hole on the top and at the bottom back for the future wiring project done by the buyer. Now he is ready to be supercarved. I just decide as I go how I will carve it. Notice the tiki on the table in the background? I stopped carving long enough to sell these four tikis. Then Dan comes down and rearranges everything so our rooms look good again. Back to carving. Now the tiki lamp is done and the room is back in order. I hid the card that explained that this tiki had been in a movie that Elmo Williams directed. It's a very old and special tiki. Half is a woman and half is a man. I've written about it before. You can search Elmo and have it come up. Thank you always for the visits, Wendy |

Dan used to have 6 of these in his collection but he sold them all to Eric Allred. The second PNG Tiki Bob will have coconut tree texture but first I have to fine tune the outside and this is a very dry mug. I think we did this way too soon. Also we ordered boxes forgetting that my new Tiki Bob's are taller. Oh well! It's a fine day in our little home tiki factory, Wendy |

Before they shrink during drying and firing they are 13 inches tall. These are from a different sculpture and mold that we did awhile back. They start like this and get cleaned up and eyes added. I will carve the lei into flowers. All done and posing. These make my muscles stronger because they are so heavy to lift. Cheers, Wendy |

hang10tiki, Dan and myself are or were hospital workers. So we know when things get tough you smile and crack a few jokes. My friend Alan posted this on fb today. Tonight I went through a stack of books to find one to start and... A few pages into the book it mentioned the Corona Typewriter. Imagine that! What a fun coincidence. I showed it to Dan who then said someone needs to do this to a can of Corona Beer. So here's a Cheer for you all. Wash your hands, don't ever touch your face unless your hands are clean. When there's no soap use hand sanitizer if you can find it. Live life to the fullest and keep on having tiki fun. Hugs, Wendy |

CyroTiki he is just so much fun. Thank you. Glazing is a bear. It took me years to get to the best place where the colored glaze didn't run into his white face. I had many ruined or altered Tiki Bobs when I started. I will again share my best methods when I get to the glazing phase. Best wishes for your project. ============================================ Back the men mugs. Here's the next style of Tiki Hula Bob. First always comes the clean up of the mold lines and the decision to carve rings or not. I did them. Next I do the coconut tree texture from the top down and the bottom up. This time I'm carving the sarong the man is wearing. Tapa style designs. All done and ready for your inspection. It worked out that at the end of this design I was able to turn the last section into a little fish. I sure didn't expect to make so many Tiki Bob's in a row but I had to since they had begun to dry after being in bags for a year. Cheers, Wendy |

This weekend we made a super fast trip to Medford Oregon for my sisters birthday. We had watched all the weather reports and leaving on Friday the 13th would be clear weather all the way up. It was a beautiful ride with green valleys and snow only on Mount Shasta We stopped for lunch along the way. It takes around 6 1/2 hours to get there with stops. Steve my sister's husband prepared a wonderful dinner for us all. Near their home are these fun street signs. At the last corner the home was completely hidden in front by bamboo. Around the side you could see a corner of the house plus more bamboo but not as thick. Their neighbor was equally strange with a home full of stacked wood and a guard dog who didn't move or make a sound. Sunday morning my sister and husband announced they had colds and we needed to head home. After a few minutes of giving them gifts we checked out of the hotel and hit the road. The 1610 sign was flashing so we left the highway at Redding to buy chains. The radio message said if you didn't have them they would turn you around. We were so lucky to find a set for our truck. We hit snowfall. No photos. We never drive in snow and Dan doesn't like to do photos so I just concentrated on driving carefully. Once the snow stopped falling I took a shot of the newly covered road. You couldn't see Mt. Shasta like on the way up. The other volcano was now a beautiful white. All the way through the Sacramento Valley there were only sprinkles of rain. When we got home for the second time we saw the racoon in our back yard. We won't leave food out for cats in the night from now on. We had a good trip and are now happy to be back home. Cheers, Wendy |

I started but carving a deep slash and then all the lighter grass texture. Then I did some peanut texture then it was onto the headband. He's all done and ready for your inspection. Tiki Hula Bob is wishing you all good health. Learn to never touch your face unless you have just scoured your hands including between your fingers. Please be careful I value all of you. Wendy |

hang10tiki we have passed those signs for decades. This time we stopped for photos. They are on the way to my sister's in Medford, Oregon. We are so happy we beat the main onslaught of snow and made it home. ================================ Here comes the last of the Tiki Hula Bob's although this one is a PNG Tiki Bob so he'll only count as one of the huge casts. When I opened the bag for this Tiki Bob I found a very dried cast. I cleaned it up while I thought about what would work best. Papua New Guinea of course! I began to carve. First the face and then the Witco woodgrain. He is all done and ready for your inspection. Tomorrow I will share a wish from a fellow who lives nearby. Wendy |
