Well thanks to having Mahalo Tiki Peanut mug mold here I was able to make this variation for Dan.

He named it RAPA MOAI because the peanut mug is maori and the new face is a moai.

The classic version from the mold.

I am only changing the face and deepening the peanut texture on the body.

I carved the name in the flat back area.

Added the mouth and did the texture on the body.

All done. What do you think?

Dan is tired of his big bowl of soup so now he has found a new favorite burrito.

He thought I might not show him also eating my two avocado tostadas.

I'm sticking to my almost no fat (I had one slice of avocado) diet to reverse my heart disease. 18 pounds off so far!

Wendy, the moai wall plaque looks great and I'm glad it's going to a good home. And the moai peanut is inspired - love it. Great addition to the Jungle Room.

TikiHula Ahhh, what can I say but thank you. Dan looks and acts like that most of the time with me, he hides it from the rest of you. Your bowl misses you too.

Time for an update on Doo Wops mug.

This is where I left off with the eye on the forehead too low. The side gills were not right so that added to the fix it list.

I added clay to the forehead and added an eye. I then filled in the gill area with more clay.

I traced Ginger into the clay. This is tricky because you need to not turn the line into air bubbles as you add clay.

Now I start to build up Ginger's body.

Body and then lots of hair.

This will greatly change as I try to make it look more like the album cover.

While Ginger's body firms up I work on the monsters teeth, cheek and trace the shape of the gills.

Gills are now shapped.

Ginger's body is taking shape. She will have a top on like the album cover.

More to fix one step at a time. Wendy

Sadly, I wasn't kidding. I was watching tv and checking your thread at the same time. I think we watched a movie or two that night. We alternate between old movies (Film Noir is our favorite) and current movies we watch with the kids. This weekend I watched a few rather bad ones that fell in between "She's All That" and "Burlesque." LOL I would love to visit you & Dan. Someday!!!

Moai Nut = awesomeness. Think you need to cast these.....Curious if you'll go matching glaze to originals or another direction.....

hang10tiki Dan has been working on the last batch of 78's. He has them on CD. Next he'll be adding the sound effects. He loved his photoshop best but I liked my moai best. Thank you.

LoriLovesTiki we went out to dinner at 4 PM and then came home to watch TV until bed time at 8 PM. I did wake up to hear all the booms in our neighborhood but Dan slept right through.

#1 is yours. When it is time to glaze we'll talk again. All guests stay in the Buzzy bedroom surrounded by his pinups and zerostreets art!

TikiAno I think it should have the classic glaze. I hope I can pull it off because I need to do it for hang10tiki's peanut mug too. Maybe I will mold it!

zerostreet awesome burrito, good job, now Dan's wanting to find one that size. He has a problem with portion size. He said your burrito is just right.

Dan asked me to repair these two chips. One is on the Moai ear and the other on the foot of the Maori boat.

It's hard to tell but here I've used Elmer's wood filler to fix the chips. Over fill because it shrinks as it dries.

After they dried over night I sanded them.

I mixed some enamel paints called Glossie's by Liquitex and covered the filler. They are back in Dan's collection.

Update on Doo Wop's Creature mug.

I took a dozen photos on this day but all the changes were to tiny that showing the last photo of the day was best.

I'm only working on this one mug right now. There is a lot of detail. Closed down for the night.

There are many adjustments that occur during a sculpture. Here I've added one strap.

I put a new chin back on and now the head is turned towards the surf creature.

The face will change over and over again until it is right. I have to let the super soft clay dry after adding it and then add more later.

Both straps are on but as I look at the album I can see that the top of the suit needs to be lowered to make it a bit sexier.

lunavideogames bring a coat! We made it to Florida last night. We were up from 2 am until 10 pm. It is overcast, raining, windy and cold (low 60's) today. The forcast when we left said 80 degrees and Sunny, they lied!

zerostreet thank you so much. We signed up for the BOGO at the Mai Kai for 6 PM tonight. We are up and preparing for our trip north to see Benzart. Our rental car has to be returned by 7 pm tomorrow so we'll have to figure out our visit with you based on that time restriction. See you tomorrow.

Holler Waller we just got back after all day on the road. 200 miles total and worth every one. We love Benzart and the Mai Kai is over the top. We are having fun, fun, fun.
