I may be finished with this wish for Richard Parker. His idea.
My last steps to finish it.

Thank you hang10tiki. Here it begins. I received another Wish so on January 1, 2026 I began. First a bit of history. I wanted to make a Missionary's Downfall bowl. The first one I sculpted was molded by Gecko. I don't know if he made any. I made one for Duane Orzol. You may note the missionary didn't know how to spell. This was a really hard cast so I tried a second version. I ended up only making one.
Then I made another one for Dan. Only this one was made. During our downsizing we sold it. Now the second owner or maybe third want's a painting of it. I can do that.
Just a side note. I finally gave up on the Missionary's Downfall and went with the Hot Tub Hula Girl instead.
Ryan Stowe's wish for this bowl changed when I informed him, he was missing the hula girl. But Dan had two and we sold one to Ryan. Now the painting will have the girl included. But he still wants the red outfit for the painting. |

Part 2 of Ryan Stowe's black velvet wish. This is the hula girl that Dan sold to Ryan so his bowl would be complete.
Ryan picked his frame and I printed out a huge photo of bowl and hula girl.
I cut it out. It fits perfectly. This is the orientation for Ryan's painting.
Copying is harder than just painting. Using a photo is a great help to make sure it will end up looking like the actual bowl and girl. This is going to be a weird but fun painting. |

When painting on black velvet I choose where to paint that protects areas from accidental smears. Here are some steps.

More layers on the hula girl body, the white eyeballs, teeth and lastly the black lips have been started. All for the black velvet wish of Ryan Stowe.

I took a break from flesh and started on the swimsuit and then the tiki. Ryan said it was OK to do texture on the tiki so I used a spike.

Ryan Stowe's black velvet wish has more steps done. Floor of the mouth and the tongue that holds the girl in place.

Looks like the Incas had hula girls back in the day. I got the little decorations on the swimsuit and then worked on the face. All the black velvet bumps are making it hard. This face will be done many times before there is an end result.

The only way to get this face smooth and free of bums that show in the light is to sand the paint. Black velvet is not easy to paint when tiny details are needed.
Next it will go into a frame for Ryan to see. May need tweaks. |

Note: paintings should be viewed from 3 feet away. These super close up photos show details that are invisible at 3 feet. |

I sent photos to Ryan and the last details he wants added are stars at the top and Monstera leaves at the bottom. I'll head to work!

Thank you hang10tiki. This is a horrible photo, but he sent it to show where to put the leaves and the stars. It's all blurry and washed out. Oh well. I started the leaves today. |

Here's a photo of Psycho Tiki D's HTHG and MD Mug and bowl.

I found that the tiny detail for a face isn't going to work on this rough surface. I added more skin tone paint and moved on.

I ended this 3rd day with more skin tone paint on the face. To make this work it will have to be smooth.
