uncle trav thank you for the compliment and the photos. I will never complain about 30 degree weather again. hang10tiki so cold. ================================== Although I won't open Wish List #5 until after Thanksgiving I am working on the first order for hang10tiki. It is a thank you for all the effort he put into gathering all of my previous Tiki Bob's and posting them a few pages back. I also added them to my Gallery page. His wish was for a full size Tiki Bob holding a small Tiki Bob mug. This was LoriLovesTikis idea for a past Wish List however hers was with a small Bob statue. Here's what I came up with for his Wish. It takes around an hour to fine tune the mug enough to carve it. I always start with the face. Next I carved out the design. I left the area where the hand will go flat. hang10tiki said he really liked my recent Marquesas Island Bob so I put the name of his home tiki bar on the back in the same way I wrote Marquesas on the other mug. I forgot to take photos as I did the designs so we'll just skip ahead to adding the hand. I made the hand which I also forgot to photograph. They I made the flat area on the mug sticky a couple of millimeters deep. They I added the hand and pulled down clay to lock it in place. I started the small Tiki Bob mug in the hand. Using the big Bob as a model I kept lengthening the chin. Now he looks like a Tiki Bob. Next I carved the designs all around this hand which you'll see in the pinups. Two days and he was finished except for fine tuning when he is dry. I will make the tiny Bob's nose less wide at that time. Pinups. hang10tiki will this fulfil your Wish? Cheers, Wendy |

hang10tiki I am so relieved!!! Love the newest photoshop. See why you deserve some work from me. LoriLovesTiki see what you started...something really great and fun. Thank you! cy I've been watching your newest carvings. They make mine look really easy. I swear they are NOT. lunavideogames you are right Chippy should be checking in here from time to time or we might forget him. I'm happy to see you here. MaukaHale I'm bowing to your message. Are you in deep snow? Tiki501 hi Jamie. Are you working on another beautiful lamp? hang10tiki counting calories is a good thing. I'm on a break but after the holidays I'll be back to no oil. TikiHula I'm trying really hard to get you to love Tiki Bob. RVICTOR and I like your work too. It's wonderful to have you posting your mug art. =================================================== You all just made my day. Nothing is better than having messages to read and respond to when I come to post again. My head is swelling to the size of a large pumpkin from all the kind remarks. Tiki Bob is getting conceded. Stop that Bob. Here's some loose ends or just fun photos. Did I say fun? I bumped one of the tikis on the large Frankoma volcano bowl and knocked it off. I believe the bowl is now dry enough to use the MadDogMike technique of using Magic Mend. I did and glued it in place. If it doesn't stay on when I fire the bowl I will try again using glaze to glue it in place. First time in my life I have seen brown mushrooms and they are growing in my backyard. In the front yard I found the regular poisonous mushrooms and I squished them to prevent kids from picking them. We need to fertilize the lawn but due to the drought we haven't done that yet. Once again they showed the Moai when talking about a Christmas show in Sacramento. ========================================================= My newest Tiki Bob is going to look much better later on. I have a supply of abalone disks and rhinestones. I've carved spaces for the abalone and the rhinestones that I will add after glazing. Posing. =================================================== Now it's time to read a good book and relax. Cheers, Wendy |

hang10tiki Dan loved your latest creation. So did I. It would be fun to make a mugs mug like that. TikiAno how is Tiki Ari and Maya doing? Yes the little Tiki Bob is a hollow mug made on my finger. =================================================== Here are a couple of Tiki Hunting trips that Dan and I went on that were within an hour of our home. On the first day of treasure hunting we went to Claim Jumpers in Roseville and found the best tasting buffet brunch we have ever been too. That was last Sunday. At the Treasure Trove we spotted these statues but Dan's only looking for tikis. He passed on the cute drink dispenser. We found the same walking stick as last time but since we have one he passed on this as well. He did find a new plate with the Place Of Refuge tikis on it so that went home with us. ==================================================== Two Days later we headed past Roseville to Lincoln and Loomis. The fall colors were finally in play. I found a carved wooden bird that I brought home. We found a beautiful nursery and I posed for this photo and Dan showed off his new hat. A tiki free zone but we had fun anyway. ======================================================== Am I having way too much fun with Tiki Bob? It's fun doing these and relaxing as I get closer to opening Wish List #5. I'm converting Tiki Bob into a peanut mug. First the top rim. Eyes and forehead. Under his nose. Adding on the ears. Cleaning his ears with a wet brush. Finished the face and ear carvings. Hands and arms built up with sticky clay. All done and posing. Close up's with a flash, Bob will always pose for another photo. He's a ham. What do you think? Are you tired of Tiki Bob? I still have ideas for him to execute. Cheers, Wendy PS I'm going to work on the Hawaiian Shirt Swap soon. I took a photo of Dan's shirt and printed it. Now his shirt has been returned to the closet. This will be my inspiration for the painting. [ Edited by: danlovestikis 2014-11-21 10:38 ] |

hang10tiki I remembered one step left undone on your mug. Here it is... ======================================================================== It's Saturday many of you are having fun now or will later so I'll just share another repair job I did for Dan. Dan couldn't resist this vintage statue for $20. He had fallen so in love he didn't notice that her arms had been broken off and when glued on there were big chunks of glue sticking out. She was also missing fingers and spots of paint here and there. But since she was made of plaster and so incredibly well done I consented to do a repair job. Not a perfect one but enough so he could display her in his tiki jungle room. This technique can also be used to repair broken tiki mugs etc. First I broke off some of the chunks of glue. Next I used Elmer's Wood Filler to build up bracelets around the arm fractures. With both covered I let her sit for a couple of days. I checked to see if the wood filler had cracked. It hadn't so I didn't need to do more than to sand the bracelets flat. Her fingers and one toe had also gotten damage in what must have been a bad fall. Using Elmer's I built the fingers. They dried overnight and then I used a wet paper towel to sand them. I was lucky enough to have a ceramic paint that matched her headdress so I painted the bracelets. To remove the brush strokes I wet my finger and gently ran it over the gold paint. I finished both bracelets. I found the right color for the base. I painted it and let it dry. My last step was to paint all the flesh areas and to paint her finger nails red. All done and posing. Dan found a perfect place for her in the tiki jungle room. Now it's time for a Tiki Hula visit. He should be at the door in 10 minutes. Cheers, Wendy |

TikiAno what's next the chocolate mix??? If you go to Marketplace and we do too I need to place an order. I love his expresso, I mean expression! On Dan's face too. LoriLovesTiki They did and thank you for the suggestion. TikiAno I think he's getting some help with the hula. hang10tiki the swap entries are looking fine. hang10tiki (o: I can never see enough of Dan. GROG's cute too. hang10tiki as you can tell by the Art Deco woman Dan collects what he enjoys looking at, that's all it takes. ========================================================== Tiki Atari rewarded Dan and I for our work on his Kickstarter project. The mugs and t-shirts are by Horror in Clay. ========================================================== We had a visit from Tiki Hula yesterday. He wanted to take flaming photos of the Al DEAD bowl and the Albert's Tiki Village bowl. First we ran to Bev Mo for some 501 Rum. He said this brand is only good for burning not drinking. He said it should be named We set up the MadDogMike studio and Tiki Hula poured in the rum and set it on fire. Inside the coconut mug. View one and view two. Next up is the AL DEAD bowl. He poured in the Rum into the three pony tails and the center of the Fez. We both took photos. My camera didn't have a fast enough shutter speed nor enough light so they were all blurry. We were happy with our photos and called it a day. ======================================================= Time to write bills and make some dinner. I hope you all had a good weekend. We sure did looking at all the fun messages. I hope GROG didn't miss his. Cheers, Wendy [ Edited by: danlovestikis 2014-11-23 20:00 ] |

Wendy & Tiki Hula - those flaming Al Dead shots are FANTASTIC!! Wendy, you told me to post pictures of the kitchen when it is done so here's some - There are are more on my FB page. Since we're hosting Thanksgiving all those finishing touches needed to get finished and they are! And the tiki has creeped into the kitchen! There are a couple of carvings on the wood between the kitchen and the tv room as well as The Book of Tiki and a couple of mugs. The Tiki Pop book was too tall and since the wood doesn't stick out very far only a couple of the smaller mugs. We don't want anything to fall off!
Edited to add pictures b/c I wasn't logged in. :) [ Edited by: lorilovestiki 2014-11-23 19:22 ] [ Edited by: LoriLovesTiki 2014-11-23 19:26 ] |

Starting off the day with two super fun posts just starts a smile that won't go away. LoriLovesTiki I had just seen your kitchen on facebook and commented. Instant replay for all our tiki peeps! Your kitchen is marvelous. The colors perfect. You must enjoy just standing there and cooking must be enjoyable. Good job. We have two dishes to hang in our kitchen and then there's no room for more. Creeping is a good thing. hang10tiki I'd seen Notche's huge volcano bowl lit up at Tiki Oasis this was a first for me and it was as you said freekin. hang10tiki good job on the frame. Everyone is going over the top this year. I hope I can do my shirt justice. Bought a new Gecko piece - I got Dan a different Gecko'z tiki but 1/2 has that glaze. Very nice. Planned a January trip to Oahu - will you visit Gecko? Hit Frankie's - hello Ten n Amy n Tanya. Off to Red Rock Casino wow how did you sneek that photo. I almost got my camera taken once for a casino photo. U B Sneaky Tiki. =========================================== Thank you two for the photos, now we're cookin and drinkin them in. =========================================== First I posted Timber Cove's carving of the tiki that looked like my painting and now a friend sent me a photo of his tattoo. Not a contest but can you guess who this is? I won't tell without his permission. =========================================== The wooden bird I found in Lincoln responded well to my chisel. I removed the messed up white eyes. I glued in abalone disks. Now my bird can see to fly. =========================================== We found a parking lot sale and it was our lucky day. we found these two masks. Oh no we need wall space! I really like PNG masks with Cassowary feathers. My favorite bird as a toddler of 26 months old. My mom loved National Geographic and made me a scrap book of photos. The Cassowary was my favorite. Dan always wanted to drive the full size version on this car. =========================================== I got out the tattoo book again and choose a pattern. It was hard to copy. Once I got this far I just continued outlining the design. I sanded it with a brush and water. All done and posing. Now it's time to head off into backup traffic to get to downtown Sacramento for my PT appointment. |

LoriLovesTiki thank you for posting the photos. All my friends are asked to share here. Sometimes I'm blessed with a post. Love the kitchen. TikiHula Wait, Wendy, you didn't post a photo of what is under the skirt of Dan's new girlfriend?? Tiki Hula asked that because he knows that unlike a Barbie Doll this statue is anatomically correct everywhere! kingstiedye you know him so well. ================================================ Yep, I'm still relaxing and making Tiki Bob conversions. This one is the Aloha Coconut Tiki Bob. I just started with a design. I left a place for a hand. I made a coconut. I cut a piece of clay for finger lengths. I separated the fingers and attached the hand to the main body. I added the coconut to the hand. Next I filled in the blank area with carving to match the rest of the design. All done and posing. Close up of the coconut. This is really relaxing for me. Soon Wish List #5 will give me different things to do or I'll just fire and glaze these Tiki Bobs. Cheers, Wendy |

Philot I have to keep the Flower Power Bob very 60's. Bright colors and fun. Now that Wish List #5 is getting close I like to think back to the hardest pieces I ever made. Yours is right up there on top. I love a challenge. I'm glad you like the Bob's I always worry when I take a break that everyone will get tire of them. hang10tiki small coconut mugs are just plain cute. Tiny Bobs too. Thank you. TikiAno I'm glad you think that this one is up there with hang10tikis Bob but his took two days vs one to carve. It's going to take you 25 years to perfect your Tiki Ari. What is his name on the birth certificate? hang10tiki plus you are tiki hunting up a storm. Where do you find the time? LoriLovesTiki you started something with not only me but other artists as well. Think of the guy on Maui! ========================================== There is nothing better than to find messages here. Thank you all so much for taking the time. You keep me going. ========================================== I got out the tattoo book again and found a design that I've seen Gecko'z use but was confusing as to how it was done. I got one going and cleaned it with water. If I didn't use water it would look like this. I just started playing with the swirls. Then I decided that I would add rhinestones to this Tiki Bob too. So I even made a place in the center of his eyes. ================================================== A DOUBLE POST FOR THE HOLIDAYS! I'm still raiding the tattoo books and I found a HONU. I started with the shell and then worked on his arms/flappers/wings what are they? They are in the shape of tiki faces. I finished off his shell and did the other "thing". The are not perfectly matched but close. Lastly I carved rings around the tiki to add a design. All done and posing. ==================================================== Clay is just so much fun to play with. Busy hands keep out of trouble. I wish you all have the very best and Happy Thanksgiving. Post your best photo here. Even if there are no tikis in the view or it's a few days later. So Tiki Ano does he get the turkey leg tomorrow?
