Oh no! Sorry to see the crack in the bowl, but it sure is a beautiful piece.

Hope all goes well with Dan's procedure.

Hamo Any art I make with a girl, hula or mermaid takes multiple firings and even those I fire over 17 hours going on a pre=heat and slow ramp each time this is a risk. I must have trapped an air bubble between the mermaid and the bowl with I glued it with glaze.

littlegiles thank you, we are just about to leave for his procedure. We want his kidney stone to crack up. I'm just glad I didn't have someone waiting for this bowl.

Cheers, Wendy

How's Dan?

Hamo thank you for asking. He did really well. He was goofy from the general anesthetic and asked me the same question three times in a row before he was discharged. But no pain from the procedure. We even went out to lunch at Costco today. Thank you for asking. Wendy

Sorry about the bowl
But it sure is nice looking

You make ceramics
And
Dan-0 makes kidney stones
Ouch
Hope the lithotripsy worked to blast up the stones

I wonder if he could make a mermaid stone

You two have a good day

Cheers

Oh no! That's heartbreaking. Such a lovely bowl. Glad to hear that Dan is recovering well.

Sandbartender I've lost so few pieces to cracks that I can't complain...too much. Dan's drinking water non-stop. We both always follow our doctor's orders.

===========================

Once again I made some odds and ends out of casts that were still in plastic in the garage.

I had cast a small bowl and

I turned it into a green coconut.

I had four Frankoma Salt and peppers to use.

One had messed up legs so I cut it down and

made a necklace.

The other three looked like this and I worked on them until

they all looked like this one.

I glazed them and then put them together for firing.

Close up. The stuck together perfectly.

Then I made a salt and pepper set for Dan and

a couple of statues.

The necklace turned out and so did another necklace that was all I could save from a miscast lamp.

I'm super behind in posting so soon I'll spend more time catching up. Cheers, Wendy

All look great but that green coconut bowl is stunning!

Your coconuts are the best

I got slapped the last time I told some that.

But I’ll bet it was worth it

Had a quick San Diego trip

I could use a trip to the beach, H10; it was rainy, then cold and snowy, then sleet-y this week.

Looking forward to lots of catch-up posts, Wendy.

Has everyone seen Zerostreet’s recent piece?

Hamo- lil rain but no snow:-)

All the colors were out

Next hotel

PS- all the beers are 3-4 oz
:)

Next stop was amazing

Liquor store in front

Then you sit in the chairs by the fireplace,
the entire wall spins around and takes you to the hidden bar

The speakeasy entrance

The hidden bar

My favorite photo from the trip

Back to the Wendy show

Wow hang10tiki that's a lot of beer. What a fun vacation. I always knew you married an angel. Were you two celebrating anything? Thank you for sharing your trip.

OK Hammo it is time to start posting more photos because hang10tiki put me to shame. I have months of work to post. So here is the start of what I call the sanding, bisque firing, washing projects.

These photos were taken from 1/28/19 to 2/1/19. Yep these are catch up photos. It was so cold out that I had a heater at my back and I sanded in my kiln shed. The clay dust that built up will be taken care on in the future. The was water was so cold that our hands became numb even while working hard.

This is just the start of catch up photos. Thank you all for checking in and being a part of my world. Wendy

No
Just a lil quick run to San Diego

Lots of work on those tables

These catch up photos were taken on 1/28/19 to 2/1/19. Just a few showing some of the work on those days.

Buying slip so I can continue on.

I'm happy to finally be catching up. Wendy

More catch up photos of our work days 02/22/19 to 2/28/19

These show the work for the Sacramento Crawl mug, the Wish List #8 Phase Four and the Harvey's shakers.

The Tiki Bob separated but I will fix it with Magic Mend and fire it again.

I have been consumed with tiki work and Dan said his life is no longer his own. I do keep him busy helping me. I have a wonderful husband. Cheers, Wendy

Non stop busy

My bowl looks great (everything else is looking pretty good, too....) :)

hang10tiki every day is so tiki busy. I work until my hands hurt too much to go on.

Hamo it seems like it takes years to finish any wish but one day yours will be done.

===========================

Catch up work photos. These are from 3/4/19 until 3/18/19

As soon as the kiln shed is empty I fill it up again with more waiting to be sanded.

Our neighbors cat Scrabble comes to visit while we work and is rewarded with Temptation treats. Cats really do love those.

Sanding.

Dusting.

Loading the kiln

Two days later these come out to be scrubbed.

Out on the table while we dress up to keep warm while our hands freeze.

The kiln shed is filled with more projects waiting to be sanded.

The bottoms of my crawl mugs didn't come out of the mold well so on sanding day I have to really work to fine tune

them by sanding and carving until they look like this one.

There's so much to do every day that I can always go to bed knowing I accomplished something. Wendy

Good update

All those unglazed pieces reminds me of a big coloring book. I just want to come play. I promise to stay inside the lines. :)

hang10tiki thank you and here's another one.

littlegiles what a great analogy. I may steal that for use on fb.

==================================

More Catch up photos of the behind the scenes work. These were taken 3/18/19 to 3/21/19.

I sanded an entire day but I wasn't alone. Scottie kept me company while I sanded.

When I finish Dan comes out and does the dusting and I load the kiln one by one.

One layer and

another layer.

Two days later they are done and ready to be scrubbed.

We take them outside and start to scrub.

Hhang10tiki's mug was first. So far all the projects have been just fine.

These are most of the crawl mugs. There is one more table with

about a dozen on it. But they have all been fired and when the time is right I will do the glaze tests and then all these mugs.

It's not possible to show all the work that goes on in one day but I try to give you a good sample. Cheers, Wendy

Awesome
That shot of the mug looks great
Yaaaaaaaaaaa

hang10tiki it's always such joy when a project comes out of the kiln without blowing up.

===================================

Catch up photos from 3/21/19 to 3/24/19. More of the same steps of sanding, dusting, firing and washing and taking them back into the house until it's time to glaze them.

Another day in the freezing cold kiln shed sanding all of these.

The dust is getting thicker.

This is the mermaid bowl that recently cracked.

I took each piece outside after sanding and when I finished

Dan began to dust them.

We loaded the kilns bottom shelf and

top shelf and

two days later they were

ready to be unloaded.

We only wear these rubber gloves when the water is 40 degrees or colder. It gives us a small amount of comfort.

We have one plastic container for washing and the other for rinsing.

You can't see the bottom of the washing water. We can't even see or feel the dust that we scrub off except when it is in the water.
The other is for rinsing and it should stay clear if you are scrubbing really well.

All the wish items for Phase Four are adding up in the hallway. I keep them covered so that dust doesn't settle on them.

If you don't know what a Couroc Tray is you can find them on eBay. I have around 100 of them and I use them every day.

Thank you for the visit.

:)

More catch up photos these were taken from 3/24/19 to 4/7/19. More projects taking the next steps.

I'm starting with the projects in my hallways. Some here are still drying.

But these are done with the bisque firing and scrubbing. Now they wait to be glazed.

More on that same table.

Once they dry they go to the kiln shed to wait to be sanded.

Among these are four Tiki Bob's that are from my new mold. They are about 13 inches tall. The first one is a lamp base.

Sanding and

sanding.

The first level of the kiln is filled.

I'm sanding more and Dan continues to dust and put them in the kiln.

Dusting and

more dusting.

The second shelf of the kiln is filled.

I still haven't gotten all of these sanded. I could have fit them in but they wear me out.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend, Wendy

Great set of update pics

hang10tiki thank you. Are you at Tiki Caliente? If you are photos???

You guessed it more catch up photos. There were taken from 4/7/19 to 4/9/19.

Dan put all the boxes for the Sacramento Crawl mug together and also numbered them. He is my hero.

Our home is filling up with fired projects waiting to be glazed.

Two days after starting to fire the kiln was cool and I open it and found every item was just fine on the top level.

Cliff hanger....and they were all fine on the bottom level.

They were all carried outside for scrubbing.

The scrubbing tub water had to be emptied and cleaned then re-filled. This now becomes the rinse tub and the other tub will now be for scrubbing.

I condensed everything on my tables and even made some room for the next fired load.

I wish I could show how much work this hobby entails but at lease I give you a glimpse. It's a great hobby. Wendy

No
Skipping Caliente
Maybe someone else will post pics

Wahine has been asking for new vanity lights
Starting that today
5 areas

I’ll post pics later
Wish me luck

Cheers

hang10tiki you are good husband. Dan is too. Luck has been wished for you.

==============================

All of these photos were taken on 4/11/19. I had videos of us washing these and I posted them on facebook. Here are all the wishes and extras so far.

Some things have been finished, shown and shipped. It takes so much time from start to finish. I hope these catch up photos have shown that I work hard 7 days a week. It's just not a fast hobby. Cheers, Wendy

Not a fast hobby
But
U make it look good
