Aw, dang it. Now you've got my mind all busy again, Wendy. Not as busy as yours, mind you, but pretty busy.

Those peanut mugs look great.. Can't wait to get over and glaze them.

I never got a response from the mods about changing my username so I just created a new one. I am retiring the bavtech on TC.

Yippee I love waking up to a good list of comments. I don't drink coffee. This is so much better.

MadDogMike its Wendy's Wish List. I just prefer Tiki Central to national.

Vamp the chocolate line is my favorite and didn't we all want to be the person stuffing chocolates into our mouth. Thank you for he link.

littlegiles this is just the first step into using my dried casts that can't be used for bowls. Thank you for giving me the push.

hang10tiki watch out the army is growing.

littlegiles my maniacal laugh is hehehehehehehehe.

Professor G I have your PM. Thank you.

Mahalo Tiki come prepared to work work work. Bring a few rolls of Brawny paper towels that come in half sheets. To get ahead tear them off the rolls and stack them up. See you Saturday.

The next Wish List #4 MAY mainly be making the Ren Clark mug clone. The one shown on the shelf I made in clay not ceramics. So If I do this I will be starting from scratch. I will not start until all current projects on Wish List #3 have been completed.

I need 12 orders before I will even consider doing this project.
I've started a list for those who would like one or more here:

Dawee Tiki 3
ebTiki 1
Tiki Wahini 1
Loki Tiki 1
Moai Mike 2
The Blue Kahuna 1
Michael Mon. 1
hang10tiki
Holler Waller
littlegiles
Sandra Dee

Progress Wish List 3

Philot's bowl is the biggest challenge this time around. Dan and I made the mold of an old bowl. We just made the bottom half.

This is the first time we have poured one.

We let it sit for 2 hours then poured out the excess. It looked as if 2 hours was just right. If it was too thin we would have poured more slip back in and let it sit longer.

We turned it upside down. No wooden supports in case it fell out. This was the scary part.

Turned it back over.

I used a very soft brush to smooth the surface some.

I let it dry over night. It was easy to remove from the mold. Now the bowl will firm up over time so I can work with it.

To keep it from cracking it will firm up while wrapped twice in plastic.

I sanded everything on the two tables that I've shown previously. Dan then blew off the dust inside and out.

I forgot to take a photo of the first shelf. This is the top shelf. I got every single item into the kiln. The cost is the same for 1 or 46 items. I was thrilled to have fit all 46 into the kiln. I'll open it up tomorrow.

Thank you all again for this mornings shot of caffeen! Wendy

Wendy's army has boarded this space craft and are preparing for blast off to invade a nearby galaxy. Some of them seem to be sleeping, obviously higher ranking officials. :)

It's not fair...the higher ups always get the relaxing posts, an' the rest of us gotsta work....

I would be interested in one of the severed heads Wendy...can you guess on a price range for it?

Hi Everyone, we've been working all morning on unloading the kiln and hosing everything off. Many projects will soon be in the glazing stage so keep an eye out for your work of art.

I've been in direct contact with many of you so I'll not repeat myself here. I'll just say I love it when you post to my thread and I read your comments several times.

Sandra Dee the size Ren Clark clone is the one next to the original, 2nd from the left. No matter how hard the glazing turns out to be the price will stick at $125 each plus shipping. I have 13 orders plus Dan so this project will take place this winter after Wish List #3 is finished.

PM me to be placed on the order list page 125. Thanks every one now I've got to go back to work. Photos tomorrow.

Cheers, Wendy

I need photos, more, more, need my fix, more......

:)

hang10tiki have the trimmers set in are you sweating yet? Here is your fix...

Progress Report:

I forgot this photo last time. This is the bottom shelf in the kiln.

I unloaded the kiln and put them out to be hosed off.

No no no don't you dare squirt me Dan.

Next they went onto the table to dry. I have a lot of glazing to do and I'm still making crawl mugs and Wish List projects. I'm chained to the house!

Out of the kiln comes my experiment.

This bowl was originally for Alii Tiki but now I'll make him a new one.

The Magic Mend says it will attach two bisqued pieces together. So I'm trying it with this Frankoma Tiki bowl and

with the Coconut Bob bowl. If this works it may become a routine way to make bowls.

I'm still working on the Eric October Bowl. I dipped it in water so that the Magic Mend wouldn't dry out too fast. I don't want to make an air pocket.

I'm not sure how this will play out but I'm still trying.

Today I'll clean two more crawl mugs and be done. Then I'll concentrate on the Wish List projects more.

I'm working on a bowl for Philot. It will have 2 removable centers, one a Mayan Temple and the other a Volcano. The feet of the bowl will by Jaguar's. This is one cool project.

First I check the bowl to see if the thickness of the wall is uniform. If not I add sticky clay. Sometimes the plaster doesn't pull out the water evenly.

Next using a wet paper towel I smooth it some.

I take the bowl and turn it over onto another bowl with plastic wrap on it so that they don't stick together. I do not want a rim that will interfere with the jaguar supports.

After adding the clay I smoothed it and wrapped the bowl in plastic bags until the next step.

hang10tiki are you good for the next few days???

Now I'll prepare for Mahalo Tiki and his wife Mary to arrive to glaze their peanut mugs. Cheers, Wendy

Oh boy!!!

Me and Mary had a lot of fun glazing the peanut mugs today. You and Dan are Great!!

Can't wait to see them come out of the kiln.

hang10tiki take 2 aspirin and call me any time.
Hale Tiki the Wish List covers a wide rage.
VampiressRN yep one of each that he can change according to the occasion or mood.
Mahalo Tiki Dan and I enjoyed the visit too.

Progress Report: I've made up a 24 HOUR CONTEST CALLED THE MAHALO TIKI CONTEST. All entries must be posted here before 9 AM Monday morning.

How long does it take three people to pour glaze the inside of 21 tiki mugs and to paint three layers of glaze on the outside and then to clean the bottoms?

Give me the hours and minutes and the closest person will win a Tiki Bob necklace that I will glaze in your favorite color. I'm sending the answer to Mahalo Tiki right now in case he wasn't paying attention to the clock yesterday. He'll choose the winner from these posts and we'll congratulate the winner here Monday evening.

Here's our work day.
Pour glazing the insides of the mugs.

Cleaning off the tops.

I was shaking a jar when Mary asked, "have you ever shaken one with the lid not screwed on tight enough?" At that moment I lost my grip on the jar. When it hit the ground it exploded. It didn't matter that the lid was on tight!

We chose really wonderful colors for these extra thick and heavy mugs.

Mahalo Tiki will sell these. They fire tonight. If you are interested send him a PM. ebTiki is already first in line to choose!

Mahalo Tiki has 20 mugs in 10 colors. If you count 21 it is because I made one for Dan.

Good Luck.

Now I have to change out my wireless modern which has been crashing my system. If you don't see me post tomorrow about this contest it will be because I haven't figured out how to get it up and running. So wish me luck too.

The contest begins, cheers, Wendy

Looks like you guys had fun...my guess

6 hrs 1 min

Looked like a good day,my guess 7 hrs 31 min

Sorry about the spill! Awesome peanut mugs! Are the molds for the peanut mugs a 2 part? I sculpted a mug for my home bar and might attempt to make a mold... I'm a little scared! My guess 3 hrs 42 min

L

Fun indeed! 8 hours 11 minutes

After so many years of watching "The Price is Right", I'm thinking of going last and biding 1 minute. Though I don't think those are the rules here.

So, "I bid, 4 hours and 7 minutes, Tiki Bob."

So can I get into the contest since I wasn't paying attention to the clock while I was glazing? Just kidding.

My prize is being able to spend the day with my wife Mary,Wendy,Dan, and being able to do something that is so much fun.

Thanks again Wendy and Dan!

7 hours 43.5 minutes . . . we missed you guys at the Mandarin yesterday, it was nice time with Marlene, Lois, Barbara, Audrey, Brenda and Matt!

Have a great week, everything is lookin' good as usual!

HT

4 hours 26 minutes.

Also, looks like a heck of a way to spend an afternoon!

6 hours 11 minutes.

Jaguar...my favorite animal...I can hardly wait for that one!!!

Looks like you all had a great time!
My guess is 3 hours 22 minutes.

What Fun! 6 hours 24 minutes and 28 seconds...

Love the Mugs! I guess... 2:37

I'd say that was dependent on how much alcohol was involved

2 hours and 20 minutes?????

Way to go y'all! The Peanuts looks great. Sure looks like fun was had by all.

As far as guessing goes, I'm tossing in 5 hours 17 minutes. :)

  • Dale

4:56 but who's counting

S

A lot longer than you'd expect. Does that include all the time spent talking?

B

I don't see much rum being spent so I'll say 9hours 5 minutes and 28 seconds..
If rum was involved there probably wouldn't be 21 mugs left to glaze... just from experience..
Good Job MahaloTiki, can't wait to see them!

ATP sez 3 hours 10 minutes

5 hours 37 minutes

I can see that there is one clear winner but the person made it by just a few minutes closer than another. I'll have Mahalo Tiki confirm and tonight we'll release the name of the winner. Thank you all for participating, Wendy

Alright.... It took us 5 hours 10 minutes to glaze all the mugs.

So that makes littlegiles the WINNER with the closet time. Only off by 7 mins.

Next closet was Holler Waller Time was off by 14 mins.

Thanks for participating in our little contest and Wendy will be in touch with the winner.

Wow
U guys are fast...

Good job littlegiles...

Can't wait to see a pic of u n your prize...

Jon

OMG! I'm so shocked. I feel guilty cause I won the amazing Japanese Lantern mug from Mad Dog Mike and now I have won a great Tiki Bob necklace from Wendy. I'm a lucky fella indeed.

Thanks!

  • Dale
