Just to show how persistence pays off I found these four Mauna Loa Detroit glasses at a place I never find anything but I kept going and today BINGO! Also picked up this vintage shirt in electric green. The pics don't do the color justice. Thanks. |

I found this Tiki at an antique store last week for $20.00. No markings or stamps on it. It has a male on one side and a female on the other. If any one knows any info on this Tiki please let me know. Its about 15 inches tall, dark wood. 20 bucks seamed like a great deal to me. |

The most un-tiki Trader Vic item I found thus far...I know someone else found this recently but I cant find the post. Where did this come from? It has Trader Vic written in the vase near the bottom edge (look close you can see the indentation kind of) and some sort of faded Asian stamp on the bottom I said what the hell for $0.99 |

Yup it has a bird on the other side too. Thanks for the info. Explains the Japanese character stamp on the underside. |

Gotta send a shout out to leleliz...liz sent me an email about an estate sale that started this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. I had seen the pictures and didn't think I was going to go cuz I didn't see anything I was interested in from the pictures. She told me to watch the video, which didn't really change my mind much, but since I went to work late today and the sale was on my way home I stopped by. I arrived exactly at 4:00 and found, no kidding, at least 60 people lined up outside. Should I stay or should I go? I knew out of all those people there in front of me someone was there for the tiki mugs. Reluctanly I decided to stay and waded through the swarm of people to where I thought the bar items would be found. As I pushed my way through the crowd, a woman passed me going the other way with a box and inside the box were all of the tiki items from the video...4 small Westwood shots, a black Moai mug, a PMP long limbed mug, etc. I rounded the corner and nothing tiki was left. I looked through the other rooms, nothing of any interest to be found, save a small wood carved set of tiki salt and peppers. I decided to leave, but I my way out, I noticed the lady with the box of mugs sitting on the couch and talking to someone on her cell phone. As she spoke she was describing the mugs and some other things she had. I decided to sit in a chair next to her and as she finished asking the person on the phone what they wanted I asked her if I could have the ones she didn't want. She kept the Black OMC Moai mug from The Tikis So San Gabriel and the four small Westwood shots. I ended up getting these...

picked up a nice moai mug from The Islands, phoenix az, its black and about 7 inches tall, at an estate sale today. does anybody have an idea about how common it is and an average retail price for it. in any case its worth much more to me than the $1.50 that i paid for it. i think that she was using it as a small vase. Thanks, Ken |

Today just 2 finds but worth the $5.49 I paid for 'em! Hilton Hawaiian Vilage Dragon Mug and a pair of S&Ps from the Hawaii Kai :
Found at the same thrift that yielded the 8 Stockton Islander peanut men and the Tiki Bob salt and pepper shakers. Good day at a great thrift! |

I found three Tahitian Lanai bamboo mugs at an antique store, and bought all three for under $5. I’ve noticed though that the writing on each one is slightly different, as are the markings on the bottoms. Does anyone know if these were handmade? Thanks, |

Just a couple recent finds from the Ozarks no less . . Got a pair of these Hong Kong Bar mugs in excellent condition!
And this odd little guy. There's a version of him in "Tiki Quest" page 62 but mine lacks the handle and has a rather odd top. He was a buck, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. |

Nice finds 1961, The bisque style peanut mugs are old OMC. They come smooth and textured and some are marked from the Luau Hut, Hawaiian Inn or Bali Hai. The green mug is very nice. It has a hobbyist style glaze which I think makes it quite unique....very cool! [ Edited by: Tikinomad 2009-11-02 18:12 ] |

My wife brought home these three bottles, a gift from one of her clients who knew I liked Tikis. All United Airlines, Hawaiian Open decanters. She brought home these two Suntory Royal ones from 1982 and 1986 and the Jim Beam Tiki from 1976 (Not pictured). All three are unopened. I can't drink Whiskey on account I brake out in handcuffs. A couple of friends sampled the beam and said it went down smooth and warmed them from the belly up.

When I left to go shopping this morning, I was hoping to find a mug, a matchbook and a dress. Here's what I ended up with. I found a Tonga Room hurricane glass plus some salt and pepper shakers and some Sheraton Waikiki swizzles. I always ask for a price when I see PNG masks. I couldn't resist this one. (He's less scary in person.) I did find a dress, and then I found two more along with a Sandwich Islands jacket. Now I have to find someone who can fit into the jacket. (It's a pretty decent size.) When I was walking the mask back to the car I found someone selling matchbooks. I was so happy to find the Kona Kove matchbook. I had just lost an auction on ebay a few weeks ago. About a minute later, I found this. The last Vicious Virgin mug that I found had been painted gold. It's nice to have one with the original glaze. After taking that load to the car, I took a different route and came across a piece of gravel art. These are the stools that came with the Witco bar that I found after putting the moais in the car. I couldn't fit the bar into the Saturn, obviously. Ookoo and Krustiki were kind enough to load it into their van. I think I'm done shopping for a while. :) |
