Last couple weeks or so finds

6 x 8 Tapa

PNG carved bamboo trumpet/flute. It has a neat woven piece around it

DeForest was around from 1950-70. No lid cookie jar.

Tiki face glasses

Couple mugs, hobbyist and PMP stickered

Buzzy Out!

DeForest kinda looks like a gingerbread Tiki. :)

This week was pretty good...
The one coco joes piece is a weird color and super light weight...
The big King Kamehameha is made of metal of some sort. No markings who made it.

T

Today's tiki haul. Part 2 of the estate sale I went to last week

Any one know anything about "Hip"? Number of prices from them. Mostly Coco Joe stuff though.

When it comes to Coco Joe's & HIP, Buzzy is the man to talk to.

Buzzy Out!

OK Buzzy here's one for you. The Coco Joe's Volcano Mug is shown on page 21 of Tiki Quest and I found one yesterday. I can find no other reference to it so my guess that wasn't made by Coco Joe's in Hawaii. Any thoughts? Or do you know of anyone who even has one?

I have my own thoughts about where it comes from but it's more of a hunch that anything.

That's the 3rd or 4th one Ive seen. Dan and Wendy had the first one I ever saw. I saw at least one for sure in the last few years go on ebay. I see no connection to Hawaii's Coco Joe's in it. My guess is that it's from a place I came across doing research on it called Coco Joes in either gulf Texas or Florida somewhere. Been a long time so I cant remember exactly where the bar was.

Buzzy Out!

Since I found this in Tacoma WA my guess is it may have come from a place that was called Coco Joe's Tropical Island a restaurant with a tiny bar that was in nearby Sumner Wa. I went there 2-3 times in the late 90's early 2000's it looked like it had been a small warehouse or a workshop that a German guy who was in love with polynesia/south seas opened. It seemed a bit rundown but had lots of rattan, bamboo, peacock chairs and a giant tiki head chained to the floor by the front door, don't know why it must have weighed 500 lbs. It looked like it was cut off a taller tiki. Then again it could have come from the travels of the thousands of army/air force personnel who have come through here.

Full Sponge Bob aquarium set on Craigs List - FREE (with fish)!

Love this thing.

Found this big old float with a hole in the top. Perfect to put a pufferfish inside and light it up. It didn't have any history with it but may have come from an old Polynesian restaurant. Found in a tiny town in northern Michigan in a grain mill turned antique shop. A rare find for Michigan.

Didn't pick one up yrs ago at the store
Found one here
:)

tikicoma good detective job. I like this possibility. Wendy

I always like to look for items that crossover into my different fandoms. I think I found one over the weekend. I am huge boardgamer and I found this sitting on the clearance rack at my local game store.

They gave me an extra $10 bucks off the clearance price as well since they know me. I can't wait to play it!

T

Been a long bleak summer. Took me all summer to scrap up this stuff...

This cool Treasure Island whiskey bottle was intended to be part of a decanter set. I haven't seen too many of these come up on ebay and none with the original bottle cap with cork and the original paper labels.

This cool old float has the rope crimped with a band of aluminum.

I love these cool african/exotica/jungle ceramics. One of them is marked Hollywood Ceramics.

Had a productive day at the Original International Tiki Market Place. A SvenTiki mug in a glaze I have never seen before, a Don The Beachcomber Kona Coffee pitcher (rare), Trader Dick's S & P shakers, a nice Kon Tiki lamp, PMP salt and pepper shakers and coffee mug, an East Winds coffee mug and the new Tikiyaki Orchestra CD.

The new ITMP was great!

, a nice Kon Tiki lamp,

I almost bought that back from him when I first saw it there. I found it in the wild a few years ago at the swap meet without the shade and sold it to him at Tiki Oasis later on. It looked real nice with the shade he made. About the time I decided I was going to get it on saturday, it was gone! Nice score!

Last couple weeks stuff:

Maori dolls on stand. I need to find some donor arms for the girl.

Big Toe Tiki Farm mug

Islands Phoenix OMC mug

Matches:

Buzzy Out!

Tiki Farm toothbrush holder

Found these, today!

I went to Fong Fest at Chef Shangri-La in North Riverside, IL yesterday and I came home with some great finds!

So I found a set of Disney's Polynesian Village Salt and Pepper shakers, a trio of wooden Marquesan tikis, and a mug from the Kon-Tiki in Waikiki! All of this for $30!

Martiki x 2
$1.98
Goodwill
:)

Last weeks finds. Nothing earth shattering but any find is a good one these days. Grand total spent $2.

No tiki left behind

Lonely salt shaker now has a home :)

T

Last week's finds:

Two Harvey's mugs, a little shot glass, Tiki Farm Moai from 2000, and two cool old nudie glasses.

Hey Jon , I like dat lil guy. Got anymo info on him you can share? Maker, etc.

Scored this crazy old bar stool set up and 2 boat hatch bar tops. Anyone interested send a pm.

Thought I scored a Mr. Bali Hai, but....Surprise!

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

What I've picked up recently probably counts as "just going to the store" for most of you, but here in the Alberta prairies, even finding a store that sells Tiki stuff is a find in and of itself!

From left to right: Tiki Farm SS Armada Geddon, a ceramic skull from Michael's Halloween decor line that looks great with the mugs, Tiki Farm's Connoisseur, and a shot mug from the Sip n' Dip (which we got on our recent trip to Yellowstone via Great Falls). For interested parties, the two Tiki Farm pieces were bought at the store Whyte Knight in Edmonton, which has a great selection of Tiki stuff.

I might as well post this here as well... A fish tank ornament from Wal-Mart that I took upon myself to repaint. It'll probably end up in a fishbowl diorama with the turtle and mermaid at some point. I've been making some of those over the last year, mostly themed to Jules Verne's "Mysterious Island" :)

Yes. His lonely brother is hanging on the wall in my bar :D. He looks Aztec or South American in origin but I liked it enough to hang it up years ago.

A gift from a friend.

Stopped by a matchbook club meeting on my way to the Rum Rhum Club at Tonga Hut yesterday and scored a few goodies.

I was thinking the same thing, Trav!

I looked on Ooga-Mooga and in Tiki Quest, and searched this site, but could not find this mug, with or without markings... anybody know about this one? Santo Domingo, which i figure means the city in the Dominican Republic... the maker looks like C ARTISTICA N

The long dry spell ended today with some good finds. Just when you think exotic Kalamazoo has finally dried out. Grand total spent $32.

Whew! After a summer long drought, found this Luau Hut Kon-Tiki Mug at a local Goodwill. Nothing special, but at this point finding anything is a win :)

Thanks!

Originally, for this fishbowl diorama, I was going to use Tiki figures from a Jake and the Neverland Pirates toy set. But on a whim I checked out the pet department and found this. A paint job later and it actually looks presentable!

Is it just me or did I find a Santa Claus Scorpion Bowl just in time for Christmas?

BK

Found a gaggle of PMPs, today.

B

I don't think they're for sale, but these hapu'u tikis at Volcano Garden Arts in Volcano Village have lots of personality so I wanted to share them. One of them has polygonum hair and the other has a small hapu'u growing out of the top as a head dress.

Family of 4 now safe and sound

Some latest finds...blue moI glass from magic sands. Placed it next to the OMC Mark Thomas I have for comparison.

And a Bali Hai headhunter mug....

Found this little gem today. Early label as well and goes great with my big bottle.

H

These are my today's finds from Don the Beachcomber ITMP.

Beautiful lamp for my Hula room from Bamboo Ben

a very nice painting from Ken Ruzic with a Bamboo Ben frame

Barrel shot glass from Tiki Diablo and a sticker from Bamboo Ben.

MAhalos Hilltiki!!

B

I love that Ruzic painting :D
