I found this matchbook at an estate sale yesterday:

Love's Pagen Den Oakland, CA"

The Tiki imagery is pretty swell. I have to do more research to see if they actually were a "Tiki Bar".

OGR

Cool visual MB. This was all I could find...different address and more traditional pagan spelling. Let us know more if you find it.

"LOVE'S PAGAN'S DEN 760 E 8TH ST, OAKLAND, CA (510) 832-3383 RESTAURANTS"

I don't find much like most of you maniacks but when I do I like it.

good will 1.99

Found this at a Carls Jr. last Friday. Blew me away!!! wtf?!!

He didn't happen to be there with a carved wooden tiki holding a soccer ball, did he?

From the tag:
"Coco Joe's No. 254 Aloha Hawaii Keeper of Time

With a lava framed stand inscribbed "Aloha Hawaii", lends a novel touch to Coco Joe's 3 minute egg timer-Hawaiian time of course! It may also be used when receiving a long distance call. Try it, you'll like it!made in Hawaii with lava by the Islands' one and only CocoJoe's of Hawaii."

That tag is all messed up. Why would you time a long distance call that you received? You're not paying for it
Buzzy Out!

Explain!

shootz, i think i might a couple of those back. mahalo again, ptd.

I bought a huge lot of matches at the swap meet today. They belonged to a travelling salesman guy who did a whole lot of travelling(...and a whole lot of smoking while he was travelling.) He died, and his daughter sold them to me for a good price because she wanted a matchbook enthusiast such as myself to enjoy her dad's collection.

this was the batch. the pile is about 4' x 4' and is knee high

When I found them, I did the swipe test. That's where I run my hand through it quickly, and if I spot a tiki matchbook by just glancing, I look to buy the whole lot for a good price, figuring there will be more than that one in the batch. When I did the test, A Bali Hai thet I've never seen and a Rayal Tahitian came up right away. I asked the price, bargained a bit, and then walked away with the lot. 3+ hours of initial sorting found these:

About 70 with tikis, or from tiki bars:

Some nudes and pinups

A couple hundred various hawaiian

About 300 more interesting ones worth a second glance:

That's it this week.
Buzzy Out!

I believe that's from Trader Vic's.

What's the sound of a jaw dropping? Great score Buzzy!

Hey there fellow Tiki Collector's... :drink:

I found this chap on Ebay (my favourite place) is he Tiki?

I think he looks a bit Easter Islandy?

and a side on view...

He's kinda got a wood grain effect to him in a mustardy yellow...there are no makers marks on the bottom...

He cost me £5 or should I say $7.52

May the Tiki be with you...:drink:
