yes, this, i knew before i saw boris' post. it's been featured quite prominently in quite a few polynesian art books.

The name Flygrestaurangen: Flyg means airplanes and airtraffic (related to english "fly"). Flygrestaurangen is airtraffic restaurant.

Even though I post a lot of finds I really don't have much of a collection compared to some of you hoarders :wink:
I have nothing in my collection from some of the more well known places like the Bali Hai.

So I have decided along with my 1 a day find you will also get a little poem.

I don't mind
when its only 1 find

No doubt. I've been hitting the thrift stores lately and coming up empty. My collection will include Mr Bali Hai someday maybe.

Well after a long dry spell I made out pretty good. I went to a few ports o' call that I let re-seed for a while and found a Jard Hawaii Kai mug with the OMC sticker intact and some mini mugs and my wife found the OOH bowl.

Then I found these BIG Frank Schirman plaques dated 1968. These are super detailed. Not a bad day in Michigan. The bill is for size comparison.

I really like the wall plaques too.

Im new to the whole tiki collecting thing, and today was my first trip out with the specific mission of finding tiki. I went to 2 different indoor flea markets and 2 Goodwill stores. All I brought home was this 10 inch Ku tiki and the Tattan plant hanger that Ill use for something in the bar..I found no tiki mugs or barware :(
I also left behind lots of those giant fork and spoons with the tiki carved handles and a pair of 8 inch Tiki bookends with a Made in Philippines sticker. They wanted $20 for the bookends. I thought that was a bit spendy. What do you think?

I haven't kept up with posting some my finds. So here's a group picture of some my finds in the past few months. I have expanded my collecting of mugs to bobble-heads, Hawaiian dolls & nodders, & figures.

I also found this cool glass shell lamp. Still looking for the right shade.

This Jim Beam decanter is from the 1974 Hawaiian Open Golf Tournament.

heh, i found one of those decanters in an antique store in a town of about 1200 people. in as good condition as yours. on a top shelf, over my head, in the back. you just never know.

I have to admit that the past couple of weeks have been "beddy beddy good to me" (to quote an old line). Two weeks ago I found a Mai Kai Rum Barrel (non-Tiki Farm) for $1 at a local thrift store, and two days ago I found two mugs for $12 at an antique store not far away. I love it when antique stores get snooty and have no idea what they are selling!

I am from Tampa and hit about ...hmm..well I would say 20 places when I home in July and got skunked at all of them.

I could not wait to get home to California!

Glad you find stuff Tam Tiki--no matter how slow between finds its better than nothing.

(There are some other people from the area as members on here btw in case you were ever interested in meeting other folks from online in person.)

Yes the pickings here on the other "west coast" are a bit slim at times. But as long as I'm rummaging through thrift stores my wife doesn't have to worry about me :)

I found these guys today. The monkeypod mug says Aberdeen of Hawaii on the bottom. The other says Maikai.

I just got these three Orchids of Hawaii orange Hula Girl mugs. The unusual part is that they have raised lettering for Knobby's Mai Tai on the back. Anybody ever heard of this place or seen these before?

found this today at an estate sell and Goodwill..paid 25 cent for the big shot glass
all the other goods cost my 5 bucks so i made out like a Tiki bandit

Super Score...love those TV "shotgun" glasses. BTW, That napkin (green) is from the Desert Inn...an early one...I have a matching plate. People (collectors) love the early DI stuff.

Man! Is that an unglazed Universal Studios Frankenstein mug?? And I too would LOVE to find even one big shot glass. None here after YEARS of looking.

My buddy Bernie's friend scored 6 of these for 2 bucks!

This wine bottle isn't really Tiki, but it's one of those eclectic pieces that make each of our Tiki bars unique.

I got that exact same fish wine bottle as a Christmas gift. Mine is missing the label so it is nice to see your's. Now i know what it is for.
