This North American table runner came my way:

Does anyone recognise this pattern? Is it possibly associated with a specific restaurant?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I like it when things like this happen! Yesterday we were in Omaha for a quick visit and hit some antique stores before heading off to the Mt. Fuji Inn and Mai Tai Lounge for dinner and drinks. Found this Mt. Fuji mug at the last shop before going to dinner . . $3.00! Good times!

Ron,

Great find on the Coco Palms ashtray, never seen one like that before!

I managed to hit a matchbook show on the way down to the Westside Nautical Crawl and found a few goodies.

Even had some extras to hand out as door prizes at the crawl!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share my flea marketing finds today!!! I'm new here and hope to find more new stuff to share. I also posted the Bill Erwin black velvet in the "black velvet" thread to get some more info on it if anyone has any input.

  1. Bill Erwin black velvet painting
  2. 1950's Hale Hawaii and Alfred Shaheen aloha shirts
  3. Moai mug from the Tiki's, Monterey Park, CA
  4. Coco Joe's simulated lava King Kamehameha
  5. OMC Japan Harvey's Lake Tahoe mug
  6. Floating lamp, it doesn't light from the inside, but I'm stoked to have found it

Had a 10 and 8 year old in tow with me this morning, they were not fans of tiki hunting, so most of my attention was focused on them and not the normal situation for me, but I still managed to find these items I did not have...

Small concrete tiki ashtray.

Aloha Spirit Hawaiian Art and Popular Design Schiffer Publishing 1998.

Westwood Tiki pitcher and four mugs.

Large Ali'i Gold Lono Tiki-This sucker is heavy and 15" tall.

This is one of the strangest Trader Vic's pieces I have seen. A yellow egg with a bunny on the lid?

D, what on earth made you pick up that bunny bowl & check the bottom?

On a tight budget right now, but I still managed to score a few things today.
Orchids Skull mug & Florida toothpick holder. $5.00 & $2.00

Neat little Marquesan Tiki. $7.00

I paid $8.00 for a Donald Duck Fruit Salad jar, full of matchbooks, just to get this one.

R,

I would have never even looked at this except the lady selling this had the Coco Joes Ali'i tiki along with some other newer Trader Vic's stuff. I asked her about the Vic's stuff she had and she told me about the bunny which was sitting on another table with some other non-tiki stuff.

She told me she purchased it at an estate sale and didn't even realize the Vic's connection until later on.

Nice finds on your LA trip and lately!

I scored two coconut mugs online for $5 each. One is a plain Trader Vic's (without the white "Aloha!") and the other is from Orchids Of Hawaii. These will be my first vintage Tiki mugs. Up until now everything I collected came from Tiki Farm.

I thought I made a good choice in the Trader Vic mug (although now I kind of wish it said "Aloha!" to give it some kind of distinguishing feature) but after searching TC, I realized the Orchids Of Hawaii coconut mug might not be so highly regarded. Depending upon when it was produced (the place I bought it from claimed 1950s or 60s) determines whether it's truly vintage or a more recent made in China, Dynasty "knockoff." Darn it! Orchids Of Hawaii just sounds so exotic!

Judging by the less than stellar pictures both mugs have clearly been used frequently. They're a little rough around the edges. Still, for $10 plus shipping, I don't think I did too badly just to have some coconut mugs in my collection. :)

It's been a good Spring so far!
Here's a few things from a few weeks ago, various sources:

Close-up of the chenille hula:

She's from Parkersburg WV (or so the decal on the bottom says).

I can't quite read the numbers, but I think it says it was from 1899, or 1889.

It had a couple spots where the paint had rubbed off of it. They were just on the surface, so I was able to mix a paint wash and they pretty much vanished. Here's before and after:
