I thought there may have been a Kahiki conection.
Thank you very much

these came from an estate sale where the tropical basement was really dated.
everthing was 'old school' tropical decor, sea shells, palm prongs, fake palm trees.
so I'm thinking
"are these the originals?or the reproductions that find on 'ooga moga'?"

Found my first pair of these Kon-Tiki, Otagiri S&P shakers. I think the mug is a home craft. It is similar in style to the white S&P's I found quite awhile back.

Great find Pauly!

I recently found a Terra Ceramics petroglyph mug for the (Kailua?) Kona Hilton. It's a variant of the color scheme I've seen.

Does the scratched out word look like KAILUA?

Found this tourist "fertility" piece. (That means there's some anatomically correctness going on.) Anyway, it's carved wood, is about 12 inches tall, has a little tiki guy on top and should make for a good spikey thingy to hold notes on my desk. I'm wondering where this little hut came from.

bigbrotiki posted on 02/17/2012

Nuttin' "fertility" related here, Bongo - you just got a dirty mind ! :D

I would love to have this in my model A-frame/hut collection, it's a souvenir from New Caledonia, depicting a chief's hut:

Two types of carvings from these structures made it into Polynesian pop: The roof finial...

...made it into the famous Montreal Kon Tiki rendering:

(...but not onto the actual building):

And the door guardians....

Were used in many Trader Vic's restaurants:

Find the roof finial in this line up! :

I went to the Mai Kai tonight for my 25th birthday and bought this in the gift shop!! I'm in love with it...the woman in the shop told me it was Doug Horne, I couldn't find a name/signature/number on it anywhere, so I'm not really sure..either way it didn't matter, I had to have it!

The design is by Doug Horne. I believe the piece itself is manufactured by SmokinTikis. To the best of my knowledge it's not a limited edition item so it's unlikely to be numbered or signed.

Thanks for the info Bigbro. I always wondered where the figure from the Bali Hai menu came from

Obviously a New Caledonian hut roof finial.

I cannot begin to tell you how rough the past couples of months have been on me. They have taken a toll and I feel like I have lost not only a father but a fellow tiki hunter to boot. I have been finding tiki here and there but really haven't had much of a desire to post. I am trying to get my mojo back, but it is tough.

These finds were from a craigslist posting and the seller was actually someone I bought from before...

Really nicely carved wood pineapple puzzle/jewelry box.

Incredible framed watercolor Wahines signed by Marcia (Hope) Young and dated 1969.

Wood carved tiki lamp Ku design. Original shade, which I hope to recover with tapa cloth.

There has been much more, but for the most part already posted by others in this or different threads.

Sorry to hear about your loss, friend. Something I am not looking forward to, but is inevitable as time marches on. My dad is way up there in years. Though not a Tiki co-conspirator, I am much of what he is. Keep on looking, keep on finding, and thank him.

Creamer from Port O' Call.

Found this tiki "dagger" this weekend. It has a carved wooden handle and a long straight blade made from(I believe) some type of horn. The cross section of the blade is oval. The overall length of the dagger is about 15 inches. Is anyone familiar with this piece or have an opinion where it might be from.
