On odd find... Promotional Tiki Mug for Weathermatic.

I've never seen this one before and not sure what to make of it. It feels very... hmmm... corporate.

It's 13inches tall and unsigned

Maybe Phillipines older style, or preTonga stlye Hawaiian carved?

Me thinks Poly-Asian crap, that one. The mixed blonde/dark hardwood is one sign. Being sold as an "interesting" feature, it's actually a sign of younger, cheaper material, in moi opinion.

I have a glass candle holder of this, same size but no markings on it. i assume the mug was made from a mold of the glass candle holder. where the words weathermatic on yours are, is a blank space on mine. I'm sure others have or have seen the candle holder. Did you get this on etsy ?? I saw one there recently and i notice it was sold.

Yes.. I got it on Etsy. I'd never seen it before and looked interesting enough. But it's nothing too special either. I did seem a little strange that what looks like a corporate give away was that unique. So yes, it being made from some sort of hobbyist type mold would make sense. Also, it has the flat bottom (as opposed to concave or recessed) which seems to be a common aspect of hobbyist mugs.

My wife bought me an early Christmas present during our last trip to Palm Springs. The bowl holds about 108 ounces, has 4 matching mugs and also a cool print-this was # 50 of 100
Gonna have to add another room.
Cheers

Mine:

Myers for sizing - I already had a carved mug but that one is slightly taller (from the Phillipines I think?), the maori tiki was just a good fun find!

Souvenir pennant. Nice neon colors & tiki.

LP i got from Ebay recently. Never seen it before. It's an Australian release featuring the Herbie Marks Trio, 1972, photographed at the Hawaiian Eye Restaurant.
Unfortunately, the music itself is disappointing, as it does NOT feature the accordionist playing that instrument.Instead, for this LP, he plays the organ. So, it's a very standard issue Hawaiian background LP. I was hoping for a strange LP...:) But it looks cool anyway.

I found this! Can anyone give me more information on this shirt?
All i know is that it was for the 45th Anniversary of the Disneyland Tiki Room, and there are a few other colors.

Anyone know more about this? Was it limited? Was there only a certain amount produced for each color?

This wood carving is about 25 inches tall and heavy. Just a tourist piece, but a nice find out here in the corn fields of Indiana. That's right... I found it in the middle of a damn corn field!

Sweet Daddy Tiki great find on those two. I love thrifting in October because I can always find vintage skull mugs--usually Kahiki or OMC around these parts. Glad to see its a trend in other parts of the world too :)

Been finding a lot these days but here are a just a few that are new to me:
Desk set

Wall plaque (been wanting this for a looong time)

Kapu card game with the decks still sealed.

Oh and I don't really consider this a true "find" but I did stop in at my fav Long Beach antique store and score 15 copies of this Black Velvet Masterpieces book for only $5.00 each which was pretty rad since the book is filled with tons of Hawaiian and female nude paintings that I have never seen before. Good book--pick it up if you get the chance.

It was a pretty good summer for hunting.

A few of the highlights.

Some matchbooks from the Pago Pago in Portland

A close up of the cannibal/zombie glass

At first glance i thought this was a regular run of the mill TV coconut with a weird treasure craft type glaze...

I flipped it over to see that it was from Trader Dick's in Reno. I thought I had every piece of barware from Trader Dick's, but I'd never seen a coconut mug!

And yes, the one in the back is also a bumatay. It was made as a ceramic statue. It's pretty tall, about 18 inches
