That is the very one I saw several months ago & missed out on. Nice find kiara! You should post a pic of that guy in the cannibal & Kon Tiki Cleveland forums for posterity. Shit gets lost in this thread |

Found this round formica table in Springfield, MO a couple months back. The artwork is actually embedded into the table. I thought it might be some sort of bizarre one-off thing, but posted it to the Texas Tikiphiles FB page and someone said there's a couple of them at a bar here in Austin. So presumably these were mass produced? Anyone know anything about them? I'm trying really hard to find a spot in my home for it. I think it's so cool! |

Mike, I saw one here in the kansas city area a few years back but I didn't buy it because I didn't have a spot for it. As I recall it was the same image but the table top was square and it had a different base. So they are out there but just don't know their history....yet! I think I have seen the image on other things too, maybe a menu or napkin....I bet Dusty or Sven know more. [ Edited by: 8FT Tiki 2016-05-11 14:58 ] |

The table image is a take on an image from the Trade Winds in Tulsa Oklahoma as seen in this thread. And a photo from DC's collection. "Anyone who has ever seen them is thereafter haunted as if by a feverish dream" Karl Woermann [ Edited by: uncle trav 2016-05-11 16:45 ] |

Hello all! First post on the forums here. I was driven to finally sign up after a long period of lurking after a stretch of luck in the field. Considering I'm in the middle of Coal Country, PA, it's a rare thing to come across anything resembling tiki, Hawaiiana, or even nautical items that aren't Hummel figures. That's why I'm convinced I must have been granted a small boon by the gods of tiki after suddenly finding this lot within the space of two days! Hawaiian Island Products 1974 "Hawaiian Hula Dancer" resin & lava ashtray (or, as the S.O. calls it, an "ass-tray"). Inexplicably found at a nearby flea market that has more of a reputation as a place to find discount seconds boxes of sandwich bags. She had seen significant use over the years, but a good cleaning and judicious application of shoe polish to the interior of the bowl has brought her back to her former satin-y lustre. Only a day later, the antique co-op across the street from our house held their annual spring festival. One of the stands was an LP trader. I almost passed him by, but the crazy thought of "you never know, there could be a Les Baxter album or something hiding in there" crossed my mind. Color me surprised when not only did my first Martin Denny crate dig appear: But several more exotic discs were uncovered as well! (I am particularly fond of the Drum Suite) Let's see if the streak continues! |

Hang10tiki, that,s so cool you found a bunch of Larry Rivera albums. I met him about 8 years ago when I was on vacation on Kauai. He was performing at the hotel I was staying at. Such a nice guy and still had a good voice. He still lives there I believe. |

Finally hit the goldmine! We had a productive day at the flea/farmer's market today... including the original Twilight Zone DVD box sets 3, 4, and 5, thus completing my collection... and I passed up some generic Libbey Tiki mugs to find a set of souvenir carvings from New Zealand. Got them for a pretty decent price, since I think the lady selling them was just happy to see someone who was actually interested in them! |
