MadMax, That is the tackiest Lamp I’ve ever seen. If it were mine I would place it front and center in my tiki Lounge-The Happy Taalk Lounge. [ Edited by: nui 'umi 'umi 2018-03-05 23:05 ] |

Could that lamp be Treasure Craft in origin? The statue seems vaguely familiar. |

Yeah, tacky as all can be. I've done a few searches via google in an effort to find out the maker at least (thank you for the hint, Prikli Pear), but no joy as of now. I took a few closeup photos I can post if anyone really desires to see the full tackiness of this lamp. It will eventually find a resting place in the TeeNee Kiwi Tiki Bar once I am done with the build out. |

If you are doing google searches try "Plastart"..." Reglor" and "Romanelli" ... I saw a pair of these on 1st dibs one time...the wicker background ( leaf or basket ) was much shinier and in better shape...Sometimes there is a maker incised at the back bottom of the lamp. I have a pair of "plastart" tropical lamps with very similar shades... I'll try to post a photo of them. |

Notice how the shades are similar? The shades on mine are integral to the lamp because it's a tree they are leaning against and the shade is like the tree tops! Good luck in your search...It's a cool lamp! |

Thanks for the additional tips and the photos, Tikilease. I'll focus more on the plastart items due to the similarity of the shades. There's no markings immediately visible on the wood base or on the figurine. I'll look at the bottom of the figurine once I take it off the wood to clean it. All of the felt for the base is in really bad to non-existent condition. Here's a closer look at the figurine. BTW, it looks like you have a lot of nice stuff at your place. |

Thanks! We're as sick as most of the folks on here. lol Growing up in Orange County, Ca. in the 60's was a treat as tiki and surf culture ( and googie and Disney culture) were everywhere and inspired both of us. We actually downsized quite a bit when we moved from Costa Mesa to Palm Springs but are taking advantage of big built in shelves for our tiki mug collecio'n!! |

Well, mystery lamp aside, found a few mugs at a thrift store today for less than $14 for the lot. I think I did well there. Although this is not really tiki, found a pair of colossal prawns (30"+) as well. Still trying to figure out the lamp. I'll post when I do. Out. |

Madd: Nothing I can see on it anywhere. The bottom has the sticky remnants of a small rectangular sticker, but at this point I'm not sure that means much. I'm not too smart in the mug domain, maybe it's from some other location/mfg? [ Edited by: coldwarspacemonkey 2018-03-13 12:57 ] |

Cold: It looks like an R-3. I notice it possibly has a distinctive mark on it's right "foot" when compared to the others I have seen in Ooga-Mooga. Perhaps a 2nd? As a side note I did look for comments on the markings for several of the mug owners, but didn't find any indicating an unmarked variety of the mug. Mysterious. |

Thanks for checking it out Madd! I appreciate it. There is definitely a flaw on the right foot with too much pigment - your theory about it being a second sounds reasonable. |

Another day of thrift shopping... Actually passed up a few things, including a souvenir Tiki mug from a Maui luau, but did have to get the ugliest hippo in the world... The Reader's Digest set has six LPs with various songs by various Hawaiian artists. |

It's like I have reached some kind of transcendence! That and I'm running out of space for mugs, so I really do have to curate my collection carefully. There's only room for about three more mugs, so I have to really, really want them. I might even have to get rid of a couple more eventually. |

I’ve found that one, too (except mine has five LPs). Some good stuff there. My set had notes as to whether each track is suitable for ballet dancing; I’ll be interested to know whether you agree. :) |

I'll let you know when I give it a twirl  It is interesting that they're different... I double checked and yes, mind has 6 LPs, but the sleeves are much more generic than in your set, Hamo (they just have illustrations of instruments and musical notation on them, with a window for the record's label to see what record it is). I'm guessing that maybe mine was a later one, with an extra record thrown in but more generic sleeves like in any other RD set. |

Ah, speaking of vinyl, I've found a few albums over the past few weeks. Rough shape for most of them, but @ $2 per record not too bad. Here is last week's finds. And here is today's catch. Now I get to fire up the turntable to see what's worth keeping... |

OK. This is more Nautical than Tiki, but I am finishing a trip down the Southeast coast and was able to score some pretty neat stuff. Bad news is that my favorite nautical antique store in South Carolina was closing . Good news was that I was able to pick up quite a few nauticalitems at affordable prices, including this diving helmet, as well as some other cool stuff:
It’s Heavy!!!...I’m guessing around 50 pounds. I don’t see how they did it...and i’m resisting the temptation to try it on myself ....I hope to use it all in the tiki bar I am planning for this summer... |

Great score! I am also looking for a vintage diving helmet for my home bar build. Being 150 miles inland from the Gulf Coast doesn't help matters any. But that's a fine looking helmet. The patina of age give it a nice air of authenticity. |

I haven’t posted in finds in a long time. Found a cool Outrigger drink menu. The headhunter was an awesome score for $15! An older tourist piece most likely from the Philippines. 18” tall. Found out that he is anatomically correct after a wardrobe malfunction on the way home. Hard to find these guys with both the spear, ax and loincloth intact. |

Lucked into this hanging lamp find on CL. Was listed as "bamboo lamp" but turns out it's made of steel or brass or similar metal. This sucker's heavy! Big, too--39" top to bottom. And check out the detail. Once I get some flicker bulbs in it, it will be stunning. Now I just have to figure out where it goes. |
