..my skin was numb cause i had already been drinking.....kidding.....but yeah, i was first drawn to some other mugs i saw , then i realized i already had those....they are kinda common mugs........then i turned to my left and saw these on a lower shelf...one behind the other...they were selling them as a pair. I thought "these have to be replicas..there's no way these could be the real thing"...then i thought "please let these be from hala kahiki!"....I turned them over to look.....no hala kahiki markings...but when i saw the omc sticker still on the bottom, i new these were the real thing!! |

I found this statue at an antique place by my house...don't know too much about it, and I haven't personally seen any like this. It says Pele Products, Volcanic Industries of Hawaii. I was wondering if anyone knows what it's deal is or if anyone has one like it (I'm sure somebody does!) |

What a cool statue, now THAT really looks like it was "born out of Lava". And the label logo is really cool too. I bet Buzzy and the others from the Coco Joe's gang know other examples from that maker, I had never heard of it. It would be interesting to line up a list of company names that at one point or another tried to follow the success of Coco Joe's and Hip in Hawaii, it's adding up to quite a few. |

First, what I didn't buy:
Nah, I left them behind because they were too expensive - if they'd been a decent price I woulda snapped them up.

Yeah, I saw them and I thought the same thing. Although, I did end up picking up the Coco Joe tiki, only to find it cracked and glued after I got home! So I got ripped off. Luckily, I've found some pretty good finds in the last couple of weeks that make up for it! Post soon to follow... |

Gotta wonder if the seller is a TC member and will see these and think "SUCKER"! LOL I don't care - I love this stuff! |

And furthermore - it's wet blankets like you that make a lot of us want to reach out and slap someone. Can't ANY of us be excited about the things we find? Does EVERYTHING have to be some mega-expensive "exclusive" item that only "those in the know" should have? Stop trying to rain on our parade. |

Some Treasure Craft stuff is OK. Personally, I only collect his signed pieces. If it doesn't say 'Antoine Treasure' on the back, I turn up my nose. |

What is with you people? Tiki David asked a question and Beadtiki got her beads in a bunch and flew off the handle twice! Maybe you should stop by a warehouse store and pick up a family size box of moist towelettes because the spaz family is who be should be doing the wiping. Sincerely Bora Boris |

If I "misheard" what Tiki David said, then I apologize for flying off the handle. The "tone" sounded incredulous to me, as it seems so many people are only too happy to make us new folks seem like fools. I don't know much about what's hot and what's not, but I liked the look of my pieces and wanted to share. That's all. |

This is the problem with online forums, it's so hard to tell what people mean when they post something. In daily life it's easy to read voice inflections and facial expressions to determine the meaning, but in forums you don't have that to go by. Did he say "you love treasure craft?" as in "Wow, finally someone else who appreciates it like I do!" Or did he mean "Why in the world would anyone collect THAT?" Or maybe something in-between. Only he knows for sure, maybe he can clarify what he meant. Certainly if he meant the latter then you are entitled to feel insulted by it. Anyone who collects anything lives in a glass house and shouldn't go down that road. I don't like Witco, but clearly a lot of people do and I can at least respect that and share their joy when they find that certain piece in a thrift store that made their day. And who knows, tastes change. What a person doesn't like today they may suddenly find interest in later. How many people were collecting Witco 10 years ago? I bet people were throwing it in the trash then! |

. . and now we return you to "Tiki Finds" already in progress . . Yes, I know this ain't tiki, but it's from the Hawaii Hilton, is really nicely done, and was cheap. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. I'm thinking Chinese New Year centerpiece/mug? A little taller than the average mug, hollow back. Anybody? |

Here are my latest non-ebay tiki finds. A few matchbooks. Has anyone ever heard of Hidden Harbor in Phoenix? And a 1960 postcard from the City of Refuge. Not a ton of shirts this week. Things were kind of pricey, so I had to leave some behind. I went a little crazy with the menus. Several had some serious condition issues, and I bought them anyway. I have a hard time resisting menus. (The Christian's Hut and Islander are in pretty nice shape though.) |

Wow, all those menus NOT on e-bay? Great find, Kate. I have never been able to use that Hidden Harbor matchbook, though it is so cool, and never heard anything about the place, unfortunately. It looks like a 50s joint that was not around for long. Is that Christian's Hut from Waikiki, or from Balboa? I still am hoping to find out about the original owners of Christian's Hut one day, all I know from Ray Buhen is that they were Hollywood agents in the day. |
