That's a steal. I recently paid 99 cents for one at the Goodwill; twice as much because it was a kolecturz item. Here's another one from the 4-pack - Kon-Stapatetiki. |

Excellent find Craig!! Oh yeah, do NOT wash the headhunter mug in the dishwasher and take care washing by hand. You do not want to wash the cold paint off. [ Edited by: Mr. NoNaMe 2009-04-27 19:35 ] |

To find a tiki shirt at a thrift shop here among the corn fields is a rare treat. The thrift shops around here are mostly filled with "country accents", Van Halen tapes and maternity wear. So this shirt was a fun find. It's not vintage, it wasn't made in Hawaii, but the colors are bright, it has tiki figures; so for my $2.50, I'm doing the happy dance! |

Weather is not cooperating with the attempt to hunt in the wild... Today was the Lodi Street Fair and I left early as usual. Nearly turned around to go home because the rain was coming down hard. Saw the usual suspects lurking on tables...Harvey's green Sneaky Tiki mugs at $8.00 a piece, one lone Peanut mug from Trader Dick's, one three faced bucket, unmarked...Second Hand Rose shop had some Harvey's hula girl mugs, one bowl, Trader Dick's smaller surfing girl mugs, etc. Passed on all of them. I did manage to find a couple of these, I didn't have them yet...
And this little number... The Tyree set me back a whopping $10.00! Later, PTD |

Got these this weekend from a Craigslist posting. The seller's parents used to own a Chinese restaurant and she discovered lots of unopened boxes of Orchids of Hawaii mugs in their attic from the 70's and 80's. |

Good score on all that old restaurant stock Gooneybird and nice amount of finds Big Kahuna. Glad to see the warmer weather is treatin' ya right! Found quite a few things from over the weekend and today but after 3 pics my camera died. Oh well. All but the Harvey's, jeweled peanut and Concave OMC moai came from the same Lodi street fair that PTD found his Tyree from. Others a stop at a new thrift I found this morning. Guy had a box of swizzles for only a few dollars but these were the ones I didn't have yet. I also really love that ashtray..or should I say ass-tray  It was only $1 because of the rain.

Thanks but do any of us REALLY ever take a break ? lol That fair that both myself and PTD went to had the prospects of being pretty awesome but it was really miserable-wet and chilly. It was a good place to get stuff for super cheap however which I guess was a good trade off. Plus I was diggin under dealers tables because almost all the vendors were either covering up or packing up. All in the name of collecting! |

Life is so UNFAIR! The great stuff some of you find (especially of late: leleliz) makes me sick! I am a victim of my birth I guess-- born where tiki just ain't. My BIG FIND this week : a Teidy Bear Cocktail mug. Sheez! I've tried to convince myself the bear is holding a tiki statue... but it's just a baby bear. I'm thinking of switching to collecting owls. |

If anyone has a picture of what oil lamp should look like please post. I should be able to acquire a new shade though The piece that holds the oil seems to be broken at bottom. Thinking of trying to convert it to support a flicker bulb. We'll see. Thanks |

Kind of dry around here but did get a few small things from the local flea markets. First up, I was pretty stoked to get the Frank Schirman piece on the left side. It is one I have not seen locally before and had averted me on Ebay a few times so now I am glad to have one. And only $5!! The above photo has two lighters in it. I like the brown ceramic one on the left. It is home made and signed on the bottom and dated 1966. The one on the right is quite old as well and is black lava. It is not marked. It came with a gold colored lighter but it should be chrome as the ring in the top of the lighter is chrome as well. Pretty cool pieces. Happy Hunting!! |
