You all are doing a much better job at finding one thing a month, than me! I walk in lately, and my local thrifts are loaded with craptacular junkified country goodness! 12 thrifts in December, 3 in Jan. and all produced an incredibly humongous bag of nothing...
(I did recently buy an item on ebay though, but in MY opinion, ebay doesn't "really" qualify as finds, so I don't post 'em.)

He said there were about 10 things he saw, and described what sounded like Maori pieces. I got the location and went to check it out on the Saturday morning after Xmas. I drove all the way across the county to find the place closed until Monday the 28th. I peered in the window and saw nothing. On that Monday morning, my cousin was over at my house doing some electrical work and saw my maori collection and said, "Oh yeah, all those pieces I saw looked like those." Encouraged, I went to the store again when they opened aq couple hours later, wad of cash in hand, to clean them out. Unfortunately, ALL the pieces turned out to be newer African cost plus type crap. I did, however, find that tiki stuck way back in a dingy corner of the store, all by his lonesome. It looked like it was just there by coincidence and not part of the old lady's fabled collection. So after spending $20 in gas, two half days of travel time, I sucked it up and bought it.($15 would have actually been my hope for price!) Most tikis around that size i've seen usually usually go for $25-40 on ebay, plus shipping. At $20, that was still the most I've ever paid for any of my Maori stuff in my collection. Most Maori stuff I pick up in he wild is in the $3-8 range. I think I on;y have 3-4 that I paid more than $10 for.

Je je, Aztiki... not a candle holder, definetly a glass for drinking, I even found a napkin with a romantic message written in it inside. What is it?! reminds me of the glass skull from Indiana Jones...

It could have been a candle glass... but I see no sign of wax or fire in it... The size is of a normal drinking glass but I have seen candle glasses of that size too... But I can picture a candle glass like this for dia de muertos... Or to worship santa muerte... Oh boy, who knows?! There where two, I bought them, so, if anyone wants to trade, let me know...

Keeping with my shtick on this thread - here is a pic of tiki swag as found at a Goodwill store over the Christmas holiday - two vintage OMC Kon-Tiki mugs, mint condition, $2.99 for the pair...

SNAG! :) - at the same location found a vintage paint-by-numbers painting: tropical scene with palm trees, volcano & outrigger canoe complete in vintage frame but didn't snap a pic of that - was too elated after finding the mugs seconds earlier to photograph it in the rack, oops!

It's been a decent start to the new year! All of this was in only 2 days (and 3 stores) of hunting.

I got to the late San Jose bar Smoke just before the salvage guy was driving away. I got a pretty cool wooden Tiki to go in my corner, a framed photocopy of old Waikiki and a framed Shag litho (yes I took it out of the frame and its real). Paid $91.00. Does anyone know what the name of the litho is?

Tiki-swizzle, first Swedish tiki-artifact!?!

This is huge! This might be the first artifact of pre-revival Tiki-bar culture in Sweden! Common wisdom has it that that there were only general South-seas exotica in Sweden, such as Pippi Longstockings father who is king of a south sea island, and Bengt Danielssons, the Kon-tiki expedition member with the largest beard on the raft. No polynesian bars or restaurants or modernist swankiness, just anthropology, kids-stuff, and hawaiian-waltzes on 78's. This is evidence of something different. The restaurant, Flygrestaurangen at Bromma airport WAS a modernist, swanky place (by Swedish standards which are understandably lower than Californian of the same period)! It was a classy place with a international "Round the world" menu, grill and chinese. In the early 70s a cocktail contest was held there. Bromma flygrestaurang should now be the focus of local tiki-exploration.

Is it the first? Probably! Swedish tiki-profile Stefan Kery made extensive explorations including interviewing with Hawaii-musician Yngve Stoor's widow and came to the conclusion that there was no Swedish tiki-culture before his import. Another question is dating the stick. It is really difficult to tell from the looks how old it is. The spelling of restaurant as "restaurang" suggests mid 60s or later. The looks of the tiki seem definately pre-revival. Any help with decoding, or the sudden appearence of other swedish tiki items is most welcome.
