They belonged to a travelling salesman guy who did a whole lot of travelling(...and a whole lot of smoking while he was travelling.) He died, and his daughter sold them to me for a good price because she wanted a matchbook enthusiast such as myself to enjoy her dad's collection. this was the batch. the pile is about 4' x 4' and is knee high When I found them, I did the swipe test. That's where I run my hand through it quickly, and if I spot a tiki matchbook by just glancing, I look to buy the whole lot for a good price, figuring there will be more than that one in the batch. When I did the test, A Bali Hai thet I've never seen and a Rayal Tahitian came up right away. I asked the price, bargained a bit, and then walked away with the lot. 3+ hours of initial sorting found these: About 70 with tikis, or from tiki bars: Some nudes and pinups A couple hundred various hawaiian About 300 more interesting ones worth a second glance: That's it this week. I think he looks a bit Easter Islandy? and a side on view... He's kinda got a wood grain effect to him in a mustardy yellow...there are no makers marks on the bottom...
