Sweet

Look different from the others I have...

S

I arrived here on Saturday afternoon and yesterday (Monday) we went to Bisbee in Arizona and i found all these in the two antique stores that were open. Pretty stoked and i still have 3 1/2 weeks here to go including a huge road trip after the Hukilau. Hopefully i'll find some more goodies along the way.

Go get em SwiZ

P

Great finds! I'll have to start taking tiki-only pics of my antique store hauls; right now I tend to take one photograph of everything I get, which usually includes vintage toys and children's books too. Love those Trader Vic's S&P shakers!

Found these in a Palm Springs thrift today. Pretty beat up and missing a cap and both wicks. Should look cool after I clean em up and wire em up with “flicker” bulbs.

Here's a curious little guy I found yesterday. The markings on the bottom end with "Tremain." Artist piece? It's heavy cast plaster or similar, and was made to hang on a wall. Any ideas?

I have a set of three, (I think?) of those plaster tiki faces. I'll see if I can find them and take a pic. A friend of mine from Chicago gave them to me a long time ago.

I finally found a personal holy grail mug I have been searching for for years. Not particularly rare and be had on eBay easily. I like to find them in the wild. The find is always sweeter that way :D

SilverLine found this wall hanger that is similar but not spot on to one I have. Part of a set of two. Mine are made of plaster as well but do not have any markings. The big guy is 11 1/2" tall. Most likely mine are hobby pieces.

Here is my set.

Nice find Uncle Trav, west side of Michigan must be the gold coast!

Nothing off the hook, yesterday, just an Orchids Of Hawaii R3 & a little, carved Tiki. The Tiki's got some age to it, but the only marking is 887 on the back of the base. Anybody have any thoughts? Probably a late '60s-'70s tourist item.

Cool! This just came up several days ago, and I bought another one made by them yesterday. That was the same one I passed on that was in the trio that I found two weeks ago.

Buzzy Out!

Thanks, Buzzy! Looks like I got my $9 worth. I wonder how to determine the age?

Mai Kai thrift store finds when I was in town for the Hukilau!
Derby Daiquiri:

and set of Shrunken Heads:

and much more that wasn't found in the wild, so I'll skip it…for now :)

Awesome set of shrunken head mugs - cool to see them stacked like that...

U

Picked up this "tiki" painting last weekend at an estate sale. It's not signed. Would anyone care to comment on possible origin, et cetera. Mahalo.

Found a few things at a couple of antique stores on this leg of my holiday including this.

There were another two that were slightly different, all the same price, but this is the one i liked the best. I know i have seen a thread on here with something similar which i'm sure the thread author talked about repainting it. I tried a few searches but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know the link or what these type of busts are from or the story behind them? There is no markings on this particular one but one of the others said 'Holland Mold' on it.

Great find on the Polynesian Girl. The best ones are made by Marwal. Here's a pic of one I have. I have seen a few different molds of the same basic design.

S

Thanks uncle trav. Here's a pic of the other two. The one on the left was the one with the name on the bottom and looks the same as both of ours but painted different again.

I've never seen that girl, on the right, before. I like her!

Lego not quite as heavy material as Marwal ,however very nice detail on their face.
I have about a half a dozen of each .

picked up this set of swizzles from the south seas saxony, wis. and an original mai kai decanter shown in situ at a local antique mall.

Yesterday I found a Langerman's Luau salt shaker at a local flea market. I initially hesitated buying it because it was not a complete set, but then I found out that even a single one is a pretty unusual find, so I went back today and got it.

They also had a Trader Vic's salt/pepper shaker there which is normally a non-event, but it indicated it was used as a movie prop in the upcoming "Dear Eleanor" movie which was shot locally. Without a COA it's more of an interesting tidbit than anything else, but it certainly makes me wonder what the setting was in the movie, which is supposed to take place in the 60s.

Excellent find TT. Besides being probably the coolest Tiki shakers around, I have never seen one before from Langerman's. Rather surprising since their signature mug is based on the same design as your Salt/Pepper shaker.

Although those moai SP shakers are common with the Trader Dick label, yours is probably the original version made for Langermans. Glad you went back and got it!!!!

Great find TikiTacky!
There doesn't seem to be much Langerman's stuff out there.

Here's my single:
http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=10744&forum=5&start=30&hilite=langerman

The mystery continues...
I was hoping that yours would be the other half of the set for the one I found, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Mine has just "Luau" on it, so the other must only have "Langerman's", yours has the full name.

(Also, they both seem to have two holes and thus be for the same spice, I'm thinking salt. So there's still no pepper.)

Here are my recent finds:

I got this at an antique store, but I don't know anything about it. Ever seen one? Know where it's from?

A Maori figure found at a vintage shop.

Five mugs, none of particular uniqueness (but all unique to me...and colorful), grabbed off Craigslist.

Masteryoda
Looks like the Christopher Columbus coat of arms
But I've never seen it on a PMP looking mug

Maori finds are always my happiest moments! Is that like 3 feet tall?

Buzzy Out!

Orchids of Hawaii R-86 Japan. Good deal on a bowl I didn't have.

T

Any one know what this thing is? Another one my mother sent me as a birthday gift. She said the guy she bought it from at the swap meet said it was some sort of hard to find bicycle accessory, but she couldn't remember what he told her about it. It's an obnoxious little bugger, lights up with a steady on, strobe, and cycling flicker. Talk about tacky tiki, but I get a kick out of it... :)

Also finally found myself a Tiki Bob. Paid more than I would'a liked, but way less than Ebay prices.

Congrats on the Tiki Bob!!

No tiki mug collection is complete without a Leilani and a Bob.

EJ

The light up green tiki was originally part of the Dyno Von Franco beach cruiser. It mounted on the front fender. You can find them online now as they are being repopped by Nirve.

Few things over the last couple weeks

Tongan, traditional, and Phillipine styled-tourist Hawaiian tikis

Got the middle one from HBtiki at the ITMP at Don's in HB. It's another Hawaiian Creations one.

Handled Westwood and Tommy bahama mugs, with a pile of menehune stirrer sticks

Hawaiiana coke tray

Buzzy Out!

Cool finds everyone! I picked up this almost mint Rossini hibachi for five bucks at a junk store. Now I can check another grail off the list.

S

Found these in a couple of antique stores whilst visiting El Jefe in Texas.

EJ

Look what I found in Swizzle's luggage while he was in the antique store.

Found these two glasse’s/highballs at a local Savers a day after a recent trip to Palm Springs and the Tonga Hut there.
Cheers

This is last week and this weeks haul.... no bad, not great...but all cheap.

Then I bought these 4 paintings...

or so I thought.... after buying them I determined they were silk-screened on fabric...

I searched and searched, and finally I came up with Keone of Hawaii Sportwear "men of action" made a shirt identical to it....

So at this point I believe I have a cut up hawaiian shirt that someone had professionally framed back in the 60's-70's....

Unless Keone of hawaii sold material too?

I've tried researching the company and got nowhere fast....

Why would someone professionally frame pieces of a hawaii shirt?

I didn't pay much for it, so I'm not mad...just have a bunch of questions that will probably never have answers...lol

I found all these a few years ago that I think are from the same company as yours

One of them had all the info on them taped to the back but I can't find the photo of it anymore. Can't remember the company either. It was a Xeroxed flyer from the company explaining how they were screened.
I sold it at the Mayflower Tikiyaki show, but I can't remember who I sold it too. Anyone out there buy that print with the paperwork from me? If so, can you post the flyer from the back of it.

Buzzy Out!

I think the painter is John Webber, however, we are more familiar with engraver, sculptor, "grapher" Charles Grignion's work.

Found this shirt. Not as cool as any other tiki find, but I was excited to see it.

If I remember right, Webber was the artist on Capt Cooks 3rd? voyage to hawaii....

Its an iconic image that many people have painted, engraved, silk-screened, etc

But all the ones I found and researched, none of them had the "keone of hawaii" printed above the mountain like this one does... except for the shirt.

I'm still thinking its either from the shirt or they made material bolts you could buy....

Best .50 Cents I spent all week....

No markings...orchids of hawaii style right?

Nice find!

Couple of pieces today.... I'm pretty happy with the maori head...

found the 2 1/2” x 5” copper relief plaque at a local thrift. Also grabbed the album cuz my wife thought the art on the cover was 60’s cool.
Cheers
