This came out of a Myrtle Beach estate sale....Its over 6 foot tall with a crazy amount of detail... I would love to research it, but have no idea where to begin. Any thoughts on how to find information... or on the style, country, artist, wood ..... anything?????

It's Monkeypod wood. Probably done in Hawaii. It's a nice one. A bit larger than the normal tourist pieces you see.

Thanks.... Is monkey pod wood heavy.... Cause it weighs a freakin ton!...

Nui- score

TJ- Up and down pictures do not post correctly onto Tiki

Only sideways pictures.
If you want to post the up-and-down pictures,
You have to rotate them on your phone or computer before you post them and save.
Then post

I found these recently and thought they were cool. I don't know anything about them and would appreciate any information anyone has on them. Thanks.

Found this menu and this Lamp this morning at a junk shop. The Old Fashioned is plastic and from the Las Vegas Trader Vic's

Removed the Beeswax candle and set the tiki next to a Trader Vic’s lamp (right) that came from the Emeryville location about 8 years ago.

I don’t that think that the steel ring was original to this piece. There is a 3/4 “x 5” hole drilled into the top of this lamp along with 4 screw holes although the ring was held in place with 2 screws.

Went out hunting on a whim this afternoon and returned with this almost complete set (7/8) of Libbey Zombie glasses.

While visiting Des Moines last week, I scoured three different flea markets and came home with this Orchids of Hawaii bamboo mug. Only found a couple other things which I left behind (the Coco Joe tiki I came across was far too expensive). Since I wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped, I decided to treat myself to this “Fu Manchu” mug from Fong’s Pizza.

I have three Trader Vic's lamps like this one and they all have the same ring.
plus a plastic tube thing, I added the shade to that plastic tube.

See it here....

Mahalo Skip, I was hoping that you would chime in with some info on this version of the T. V. lamp

T

Yeah I think yours was just a smaller carving than they wanted for that lamp.

One of mine has a weird spring loaded candle thing.
And two are electric.

Finally got my own copy. Since I’ve had Tiki Pop for a couple of years, I thought I could do without The Book of Tiki. Boy, was I wrong.

I also appreciate the inscription, which I’m pretending was originally written to me....

Such cool finds. We have found some records but that's all. This album has burlap on the front cover.

Hamo you are a sweetie so it must be truly written for you. Wendy

Hamo- nice find “sweetie” :)
Wendy- that’s a good one

Pulled this batch off Oahu

H10: thanks, darling....

This was an internet “find;” I’d been watching Thriftbooks for months. Not a lot of tiki in the wilds of Colorado. Congrats on your big Hawaiian haul.

Cheers Hamo
I found my copy in a Portland bookstore
Enjoy

Nice finds Jon. Is there any story to dat "Kilroy was here” mug?
My wife found these very dirty earrings at an otherwise neat and clean thrift.I found the shirts at another thrift. Pic shows front half of both shirts.Unfortunately they are both older (size medium) and don’t come close to fitting me. I liked em so much that I could not pass them up. I’ll give them to my grandson who’s in training to be a Tikiphile. Not quite tiki, the box of thirty post card, matchbook, etc.reproductions have some awesome graphic art on them.I intend to frame them in two groups.
Cheers

Nui- great colors on those shirts

The Trader Vics Hawaii Peeping Tom mug:
(Ooga info)

This handled mug is mainly white, with a brown fence all around,
and a man peering over the fence on each side.
The design is reminiscent of the "Kilroy was here" graffiti mark from WWII.
The mug is crudely fashioned, as is common with the Polynesian Pottery mugs made for Trader Vic's.
Marked "Peeping Tom" in vertical letters down one side,
directly opposite of the mug's handle. Bottom has "P. P. Trader Vic's Hawaii" etched into it.

Been looking for this one for a long time
To add to my Trader Vics Hawaii collection

Cheers

Speaking of Trader Vic’s Hawaii I found this today

And a 2001 Tiki Farm mug:
Dental Handled Yellow

K

Kind of cool cared mask wall-hanging, 24 inches long, $3.00 at Salvation Army.

and, sorry, I have no idea why the images are sideways. They aren't in my files.

kaiwaza-
Fixed em :)

Photos taken up and down need to be edited:
Turn them upside down
Save em
Turn them right side up
Save em
Then post them

Cheers

Jim, that’s a very cool variation of the much sought after “Rounder “ shelf. I like it.
Congrats!

Finding Tiki artifacts in NYC is about as hard as finding teeth on a hen, but I did find a pretty cool Quon-Quon mug today for $3!
As an aside, does anyone else have tips on hunting in NYC?

Nice find T and D.

Slim pickings in these parts lately. Better than nothing, though!

new stuff:

A trio of Tongan styled carvings. I usually don't buy these any more, but each was a bargain. And I dig the canes these days...

Solomon islands nguzunguzu

Trio of Tiki Farm Moai mugs

Ive had this empty box waiting for them since 2007

Now I'm missing a mug that I never wanted

Saw the hat in the middle of a table of random ceramics and said to myself "What are the chances that's a DTBC mug?" Lifted it-Saw the imprint on the base, knew it was OG- and got that finder's tremble. Looked for seller and heard a voice from behind me say "Are you a fan of DTBC?" Crap, she knew what it was... I nod and ask "how much?" she says "$10. It came from a lady who worked at the one in marina Del ray. I'm selling her stuff and this was all I found from there" Happily paid asking price and walked away as though my feet were floating on air

Nice buzz

A lone menehune

I have found some cool and surprising stuff over the past 6 months while antiquing but yesterday's may the best yet. Well, next to the stash of vintage tiki mugs I found in a tiny town's antique store in November. This glass float is around 12" and weighs about 7 lbs.

BB

I am drooling over that float. Awesome find!

This week's stuff:

Milo Wood Madame Pele carving

Group shot of my carved wood Pele inventory

3rd version Ive found of one of these Lurline menu art trays. I assume there were all 6 made.

I have these two now-I had two of the Royal Luau at one time, but sold them during hard times

Tiki farm Brophy mug

I found this oddity of a lamp at a flea market yesterday and cannot figure out if it wants to be tiki or not. It definitely looks pre-70's based on the cord and has seen better days. If anyone can identify this I would greatly appreciate it. Perhaps place this next to a Christmas Story leg lamp?
