Of course, another post by Buzzy. Some seriously good finds lately. Very cool. The gaggle of voodoo tumblers is crazy. I was thrilled when I got one for Christmas-- my missus got it for me on Ebay. So sweet.
Anyway, Buzzy--
The glass tiki you've got there is pretty ubiquitous. Disney used them in the past, or possibly still does in Orlando. You can get a shorter version Red Robin when you order their "Mai Tai". With grenadine. Did I mention it has a lot of grenadine? I made up for it by stealing the glass. Actually, I made my wife put it in her purse, so technically she stole it. Now I use the glass for sno cones. I don't know much about the manufacturer on those. I'm pretty sure I saw a place a few months ago that sells them new. I'll think on it and see if I can't remember.

I have a few of the shorter frosted ones used by Disney from the Polynesian village if anyone has a green or ambler one to trade. I too would like to know the origin of these "goblets".

THey still make them, and you can buy them in singles, or sets of four online.

Polynesian at Disney World had them in frosted and non frosted, tall and short, with either "Polynesian Village" and "Walt Disney World" or "Poynesian Resort" (depending on whether they were pre or post conversion).

You can scrub the paint off if you try hard enough.

I bought a goblet like that in a frosted tan color maybe 5 years ago at Urban Outfitters. I see a lot of these goblets (both white-frosted and tan-frosted) at vintage stores and eBay. In fact, there have been like 4-5 of them sitting at my favorite store in Austin for maybe 3 months. I should probably take the plunge and buy them - they're great for holding garnishes or snacks at a party.

Posting this for a fellow TC'er "Kabuddhabuddha". He picked up an OOH volcano bowl the other day, paid a good chunck of change but could'nt leave it behind. What made up for the price of the bowl was a rare Polynesian Village mug from the 99 cents!!!.

I was in there last week and they had home tiki bars that were basically a slightly nicer version of the Mai Tiki bars that were discontinued at TARGET last year. They are golden bamboo. The stools are nicer than the mai tiki one's were and I believe it comes with 3 instead of 2. Just wanted to put this up in case anyone wants one. I believe they are currently $250 (down from $300)

Picked up a Dynasty Wholesale Ku mug at the local japanese steakhouse last night.. they sell em for 5$ apparently.

The waitress looked a bit confused when I asked if I could buy the mug..said she had to go ask..came right back and said hesitantly "Yes.. they are 5 dollars?" SOLD! :)

Now to get one of their volcano bowls on the next trip...

I found this hut shaped purse for my wahine for an early b-day present. Wooden mugs are below.

Two unmarked mugs from a 4 pack (as seen in Tiki Quest, on sale now), Offical Trader Vic's scorpion bowl. Bought it at the TX gathering, this was the floor model. Unless they restocked since then, it was the last in the place.

This is not a mug but a flat backed wall vase. 7" tall and it looks great with a straw and little umbrella don't ya think?

Vintage matchbook from Polynesian Village in The Edgewater Beach Hotel Chicago.
My little girl found this in a big pile of matchbooks. I'm training her tiki eye and it's helping already.

This is a favorite of mine. This Tiki Hawaii wall plaque is really colorful and has lots of different tikis. It measures 6 1/2" tall and 5" wide.

Finally, the Hula girl on tiki base. Been lookin' for one of these for a while.

Yesterday's sole find was a Tongan style Hawaiian tourist tiki:

It's dated. Now when I list it on ebay, I can call it "vintage."

Today: I see nothing but tiki forks on the horizon, and a book or two

The Hawaii guided tours book is actually a multimedia experience. It comes with some color slides...

and a record.

Published in 1960. It is like an early form of the internet.

Mimi (Puamana) gave me this Craft Master Colored Sand kit


A tiny styrofoam "primitive" mask that you spread with white glue (I'm pretty sure the supplied glue has dried solid) and pour colored sand on. It's still factory sealed and I think I'll keep it that way.

These are the 4 mugs I scored on a recent trip to the Washington D.C. area, all found in the same antique mall. Here's a brief description of each. The links go to a larger image of the mug.

  1. OMC "crossed-arms" mug: from the extinct Luau Hut in Silver Spring, MD. It appears as the Tiki Tumbler in this menu from Arkiva Tropika.

  2. Small Moai mug: unmarked, and looks like it could be homemade. I really dig the white glaze with blue streaks. Looks like a bar of Irish Spring!

  3. Dynasty Headhunter mug: non-vintage, from the Jekyll and Hyde Club in New York.

  4. Maui Lu Luau Daga Warrior mug: from the the Maui Lu Resort, Kihei, Maui, Hawaii.

My new Suffering Bastard I got up in Pismo Beach This weekend from a Tiki surf shop. They had a lot of small carvings from all over the world.

This is a mug I found at the thrift store a few weeks ago. It can't be used as it is cracked all over.

I missed hunting on Saturday and Sunday because of Oasis. Friday I stopped by the swap on my way to the event and picked up these guys:

What I think may be a shirman polyart and a couple of Maori wood items. I also got another set of tiki fork and spoons, but I resold them before I could get a picture.

Already posted this find under the Witco thread, but thought it was note-worthy to add it here as well. Found this Witco fountain, complete with the box and bowl. Purchased for under $200.00. Sat in a storage trailer for a long, long time. I am new to this infectious disease and so, can't believe that right out of the shoot I picked up on this deal.
I have a cottage in Canada on lake erie, which will soon be home to this brute. I have dubbed my crib the Erie Tiki, in my own world I like to call Tropicana-da.
This pic. was taken by the seller and is not my home or the afore-mentioned T.C. I will repost with pictures when he reaches his new place of honor.
