guess what stumbled in at DELUXE, a TIKI by Tyler!

sorta tops anything I may have found at the GOODWILL even if it was a ...

( local photographer named Con Bolland ,has a strange past)

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving !

Found these 2 Trader Vic's items for a grand total of $0.85 while out thrifting today.

Never found anything but mugs so a piece of glassware for $0.39 was a nice find. (I haven't washed the price off the back yet) However this poor fella was missing the pepper :

Then I came across this set which really made my day. I have only seen these figurines on here in someone's collection and never thought I would find any myself.

If anyone may know where they came from or who made them I would love to know.

I am not sure who the member is (sorry I am still relatively new to TC-but I know their collection was on their website under Clay Tikis) but they have a great display set up of these figurines.

Congrats leleliz... those figurines are really fine!

Mahalo Bongo! After some scanning through the net I found this photo from Wendy Cevola and her husband's website. They were the ones I was referencing under the Clay Tikis name. (I hope it is ok that I reposted the photo here if not someone please let me know!) I absolutely love the way they have their tiki room set up. Now that I know that there are more of these figurines out there I hope I come across more of them at some point. You can see the same two I found hidden among the foliage in their display.

Lately I'm into carved wooden fish. This one has become my glasses rest. Really, it may help...a lot less of "where the f** are my glasses..."

Even though my favorite thrift was packed with holiday shoppers today I did pick up these Treasure Craft items .

Mother/Father mugs, pineapple ashtray marked "Maui" and some S&P shakers (which kinda throws me because I am not sure what a barrel of rum and a skull have to do with Africa???):

Hope everyone is getting into the holiday mood :)

think pirates....rum....slaves.....most pirate crews back in the day consisted of slaves taken or traded from various countries including africa....

i happen to be reading a book right now that dispells the pirate myths we have all grown up with and paints a picture of what the reality of pirates was like back in their heyday......

the book is "under the black flag..the romance and reality of life amongst pirates" by david cordingly

in light of all this your s/p shaker set makes sense to me.....

Good point Tipsy. I actually have a cousin who lives in Africa . She married an African (well obviously) and they live in the French speaking country of Gabon. Whenever I see anything referring to Africa like these S&Ps I automatically think of them and the area they live in. I think that was why I wasn't making much of a connection between the country and the skull/rum figures.

I can see how the pirate angle makes more sense and thanks for bringing it up :)

I like those shakers. I purchased my very first tiki mug (recently unearthed from my parent's garage) at Marine World Africa USA while on a grade-school field-trip.

Found this nice piece this past weekend..

:o Come to think of it, this looks similar to one of the cannibals on DBC shelf? And didn't I see something similar under Svens bar?

WOW! I LOVE that carving! And I love that you're using it as dinner table center piece! Keeps folks guessing about what they're having for dinner!

Has anyone seen this one on a menu? Probably a hot grog drink I would imagine...

That's a very interesting piece - looks like Otagiri - the first I've seen with a Moai image. I have a similar mug with the Kon-Tiki image and 'JP Co' printed on the bottom.
