Here's a couple of recent finds. I got pretty lucky on the ship's wheel. The "tiki" is a bit of a mystery. For unknown reasons, I thought it was a "knock down" piece from a carnival. But there's not a mark on it.

There is a hole in the back of his head. Maybe it's why he looks so unhappy.

Any ideas?

With your luck at finding stuff, you're gonna need the BOT! :) The earlier posted mug that you thought says "Kono Club" actually is from the Kona Club, a new, well done, classic style Tiki Bar in Oakland.

I will try it next time I go to Forbidden Island. Thanks for the infor to the two of you.

Brimfield was pretty good to me for the second Spring in a row. Wednesday's take:
A few albums for a buck apiece!

A nice Hawaii Kai mug, Tiki Oil Lamp & a CoCo Joe's I didn't have.

And this guy, 3 feet 4 inches of sexy Tikiness! The seller said it came from Rochester, NY, possibly out of the Aloha Restaurant.

Thursday was kinda slow. I just got this little Japanese float.

Today was pretty good.
These 2 Tikis for 5 bucks apiece. I figured they'd be good "hole fillers" in the lounge.

A nice lttle swizzle from The Outrigger

This killer Hawaii Kai skull mug

And this cool mug from Club Bali, 732 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida.
Has anyone heard of this place?

WOW!! very nice score Rick.

So Duane (Psycho Tiki D) and I lucked out and have crossed paths with a super chill guy who is selling off his late brother's tiki/Hawaiiana/collectibles collection.

We spent a few hours today at his place talking tiki and about his brother and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable Saturday afternoons I have had in a loooong while. We are going to also be helping the fella sell his stuff too--but Duane will post about that later.

Out of this first haul Duane got some really great stuff and I did pretty well with common mugs with a few rarer ones thrown in. All in all...yeah today was pretty awesome!

Now...for my booty!

Orchids of Hawaii bowl, Hawaii Kai skull, earring guy from Zombie Village, Kona Hawaii in Santa Ana, CA

Mark Thomas Outrigger, Leilani, some Orchids of Hawaii, Samurai Grog

Westwoods I didn't have

Treasure Craft ashtray, vintage paper coasters, Hawaiian phrase book

Two sets of tropical paint by numbers and a pink flamingo statue (FINALLY Tom SLick!!)

Not bad for 1 day!!

Z

Awwwww...
An amazing NorCal score, leleliz! I am both envious and impressed!

Man you aint seen nothing yet!! Just keep your eyes peeled for Duane to get home and take pics of his first haul. He got some killer stuff also.

Needless to say this guy's brother was a huge collector that no one on here got the pleasure to know. Today was killer and really it was amazing.

NorCal tikiphiles unite!

Hey Rick how did we miss each other today? I did alright too but I am far too tired to take pictures.

I didn't go today. I had to work.

Rick,

Nice scores at Brimfield, especially like the Witco and dude, I still haven't mailed out your mug, I am so sorry, but it has been a killer week.

To add to Liz's comments...because Liz mentioned this to our new friend, today was one of those days you might have once a year. His brother was a long time collector of hawaiiana and tiki and we only saw a fraction of what is going to be sold. More of that in Tikimarket place, but suffice to say we haven't even scratched the surface yet. I thought I had seen it all and I was so wrong.

Special mahalos to our host, his wife and children for letting us invade their space on a Saturday. I had the best time discussing collecting and the person who owned this remarkable collection. I spent more today than I have in awhile but I think it was well worth it. Todays finds...

Skipper Kent's/Zombie Village menu.

To make a little bit of my $$ spent today back, I will be selling the Bosko mugs! Don't know much about other than they are pricey! It is ok, the old owner knows!

Bosko Bumatay??

Bosko speckled Moai??

Larger Bosko speckled Moai??

Bosko Witco tiki mug???

Same as above with a crack.

A Trader Vic's shell bowl I haven't seen before, marked made in Japan.

Peanut mug from the Trade Winds in Oxnard California.

Earring mug from Zombie Village.

Moai mug from The Tikis in Monterey Park California.

Moai mug from Skipper Kent's San Francisco and Kona Hawaii. Repeat for me.

The ever smiling Tiki Bob San Francisco CA. Three peat for me.

Aku Aku Las Vegas Moai mug.

Hula girl bowl Kahiki Columbus Ohio.

Trader Vic red ceramic gold rim port light mug.

Salt and pepper from the Bali Ha'i At The Beach New Orleans, LA.

Two vintage chalkware hula girls.

A surprise!

The two chalkware hula girls outside.

Probably now, my most favorite piece I own. I have never seen anything like this before. Larger hula figure in a bamboo frame with raised barkcloth fabric. The palm and hula girl are chalkware. This is a real beauty and very heavy.

Chalkware together!

Long day, staying home tomorrow!

Later,

PTD

L

Duane you should of stood next to those chalkware pieces so we can tell size. Those are so much bigger than they look in the pics.

So awesome!

D, I love the hula girls & I'd kill for that Zombie Village menu. Great scores. Oh &, by the way, your mug's still here, too. I walked my ass off this week to find all that crap.

and Rick I have that pile of stuff we are swapping staring at me everyday. Good lord lets get on that!

After the great stuff I found this week, I stopped by my local hotspot, today to see what they had. I prolly shoulda gone straight home. As many of you know, when you have other people looking for you, they don't always make the best choices & sometimes ya gotta take the good with the bad. Here's today's stuff.
The ultra rare fork & spoon:

Your basic Monkey Pod:

I don't have a freakin' clue what these things are, but I coughed up the 3 bucks & smiled:

I do really dig this chair:

That's it for now. It's been a wild week.

The Zombie Village menu is a beauty! Great Bosko pieces and love the chalk ware girls!

I think --if you look on page 249 of this thread you will see a souvenir picture you got from a place by the same name but in D.C. instead if FL so maybe it was a chain?

Duane and Liz rock!

When I get the chance I'm agonna post a picture of a little plastic mug I bought that has a paper insert of Punchy from the Hawaiian Punch commercials... well... maybe not... it's so lame... damn you Liz and Duane!

This week's lot:

I was overjoyed to find this 16" tall Kavakava torso guy

It's in perfect shape

I bought this faded Maori patu...

and with a little TLC restored it to its former glory:

Cocojoe's KU hw 137

Three T vic's DC matchbooks and two Hawaiian:

I think it's funny that three of us found those Hawaii Kai skull mugs last week!
Buzzy Out!

I've been searching for 3 years for one & now they're coming out of the woodwork! It's especially amazing for 2 to be found in CA.

Not a total bust yesterday, but nothing to write home to Grandma about.

Large Treasure Craft fish snack and dip dish

Smaller detachable dip dish

Six mint unused Beach Bum Burt Mai Tai drink glasses

My husband found this in a box of photo's at his Mom's house. It was taken July 5,1952. My MIL is the one in the striped dress on the right.

Found 25 TV Menehune large swizzles (the ONLY tiki from a weekend in Cleveland :)

P

Scored a Hawaiian Inn Daytona orange sucker this weekend (as well as some nice briar pipes, but that's another forum).

I found these today in a small thrift store, I suppose they arent really "tiki" , but I think they are cool. They were still in the box wrapped in crumbling tissue paper and the little brass cigarette holders still have a "handcrafted" sticker. All 4 are stamped with the Lego logo and say copyright 1960 on the bottom, 3 of the 4 also have the Lego sticker.

They're Changseung, traditional Korean village guardian totems.

Very cool find USAF ...this same import company Lego is also well known for
producing these ultra cool polynesian girl busts .

An estate sale today brought me this commercial mixer which is a nice bar addition but after a I turned it around I saw it said “Don The Beachcomber” on it. When I checked out the woman said her husband worked at the Denver branch and that’s where it came from. If only this thing could talk what drink stories it would tell. The first thing that came to mind was this tread. http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?mode=viewtopic&topic=26988&forum=10&start=0

The only other tiki thing there was this 6 inch carving that looks very International Market Placelike but has more wear than you expect from from the carver there who started in the 1990‘s

Today's finds...

Witco style wood carved tiki candleholder.

Larger plaster tiki.

Jim Beam King Kamehameha bottle.

Three faced bucket mug from Hawaiian Gardens, San Jose CA.

Headhunter mug Islander Stockton.

Three records I didn't have!

Later,

PTD

Witco style wood carved tiki candleholder.

I actually found something almost identical yesterday. Although I may be wrong, I believe it's actually one of those old-style lighters...
At any rate, I just went ahead and popped in a part from an old lighter, and was a perfect fit. Would post an image, but my girl took off with the camera!

here's this weekends finds.....

the brown bowl is a trader vics bowl from 1971......i posted better pics under a separate thread if you want a better look. The asian paintings are actually old paint by number paintings....

I believe Hawaiian Gardens is the restaurant where my parents had their wedding dinner in 1942.

Does anyone have any info on this place? What years it was in existence?
I looked for it when I went on a trip to San Jose, but found no evidence of it. Also, the church where they got married had just burned down one year prior to my visit. I did find their first apartment however.

Thanks.

I've got a couple of the nudie mugs with raised bits (speckled not painted/glazed). Anyone know anything about 'em?

Almost forgot this, left it in the scanner...

United Airlines Royal Hawaiian Menu.

Had some great luck in the Atlanta wilds for once.
I found a stash of Tiki Farm mugs* at one place and a set of old style Trader Vic salt and pepper shakers at another.

Anyone know if Exotiki is based off a specific Horne painting?

The S&P set amuses me, because while we have a local Trader Vics, I'm pretty sure we've had the orange (newer) shakers for quite a long while.

*I bought one, hipped my buddy to another (which he bought), and left one (a shot mug) to be found by other folks.

Just a couple things this week:

Moai with topknot carving:

Madame Pele driftwood carving:

I can't make out the signature, but he/she did it in '75

Buzzy Out!

Tiki or Not Tiki??

Hmm...it's got palm trees, and it says "Hawaii" on it: VERY Tiki!

'BONEWARE' I love that.

Nice find. But are you sure she said Denver? I've never heard of a Don the Beachcomber being located in that city.

That darn wikipedia! It looks like there's a thread on TC of Don the Beachcomber locations that mentions Denver (and even has a pic):
